New theory: “All My Favorite People” has always been slated for single #4 to perpetuate momentum until the MM3 era begins. In this case, we may be looking at a one-off single between projects considering that COVID-19 has postponed the RSVP Tour and altered the course of the album cycle.

As much as I don't care for that chart and I'm a fan of Taylor, she shouldn't have had that record to begin with, so great news for Maren!

I’m starting to get a little concerned on the singles future myself. Taking a look at this weeks Billboard country chart, if there was no recurrent rule in place, “The Bones” would be at #11 this week which I’m sure is stunting THAB’s growth. Another factor could be that the past 3 singles (Girl, the Bones, To Hell and Back) all sound pretty similar. “All My Favorite People” is doing great on the Highway, so I’m a little surprised that the label didn’t have that impacting now (perfect tempo song for summer) and release To Hell and Back afterwords.

I suppose the tempo is fairly similar (all three are mid-tempo) whereas AMFP is bombastic and loud.

I became a bigger fan of Maren when she did an online mini concert for the grocery store's Youtube page I work for. It was for those who were graduating high school or college. She played The Bones, The Middle, and My Church acoustically

Not sure I see this being a hit...it seems to be really floundering at radio. Personally, I feel that it just really lacks that "punch" that most radio songs need in order to succeed. It's a decent song, but it just doesn't strike me as a radio hit and I don't think it was a good choice to release this on the heels of "The Bones". I really think "All My Favorite People" should have been the single.

They may want to ditch this and try one of the 2 new songs Maren Morris released yesterday in "Just For Now" or "Takes Two"

"Just for Now" sounds like something that didn't make Hero rather than GIRL. That song is excellent. I actually heard it on the radio last night when Whitney Allen played it, and it was nice.
Still holding out this song can be a hit, though...

"Just for Now" has an insatiable melody and I'm loving it! That song is a worthy addition to be tacked onto Girl, but I still think there's better options for future singles so I hope throwing the new tracks out there doesn't indicate a plan to push either of those instead of one of the original tracks. Maybe "Just for Now" could work as a follow-up to "The Bones" on the CHR/HAC side of things though? "Takes Two," on the other hand, doesn't do much for me and I could've done without that one.

Yeah, so even with how slow chart runs are these days and “The Bones” being a recurrent smash, it’s time to admit this one just isn’t getting it done. Do they drop it now or just let it ride out the summer scraping the bottom of the 30s?

Do they drop it now or just let it ride out the summer scraping the bottom of the 30s? I say drop it now, this song is dead in the water, I mean it is telling that Maren Morris still hasn't been able to pass Tenille Arts who is a complete newbie nobody at country radio who is also a female. Like spending 12 weeks on the chart to only be barely scraping the Top 50 is just way too slow of a pace for an artist like Maren Morris.

As much as I genuinely like this song, I think we all can agree that this was a bad single choice. It never sounded like a surefire smash. And as we can see, The Bones was way too massive for this to stand out. So, I agree, it’s time to cut their losses and move on before Maren loses her momentum. The question is if they will or not. Kelsea was quick and smart enough to do that, and now she is gaining her momentum back. They should follow her example.
However, I do want to say how disappointed I am. I was excited for Maren after The Bones smashing. In a way, I thought radio would finally start playing her songs more at a quicker pace but instead we’ve seen two Luke Combs singles climb above this at an ease. This shows that it’s rare for a female artist to have a song shoot up the charts AND how important you choose the right single.
I hope they’ll go with All My Favorite People, she desperately needs an uptempo on the radio and I do feel like it’s the only one that’ll be a guaranteed smash at the moment. I’m just concerned Brothers Osborne might not let it be released so they wouldn’t have it compete with their lead...

They should drop this. Its not going to happen. The album still has AMFP, Gold Love and Feels. Send Feels out to smash in Autumn, then Gold Love and finish the era with AMFP. And the first two options DO have crossover potential to keep her afloat

I too wonder if they will drop this soon. I know several here thought this was a good choice, but as the follow up to such a massive hit, it feels like such a blah nonevent. I haven’t listened to the album since it was released so my memory is very hazy, but there have to be better choices other than “All My Favorite People” it they don’t want to go with that right now.

Well, I’m going to mention this now because this is related. But anyways, Kelsea’s Hole in the bottle is now Top 50. Considering Kelsea lost a lot of momentum from Homecoming Queen and The Other Girl, the label’s decision in scrapping TOG was a fantastic one. And now, we can see how she’s building her momentum again. The decision was made literally a few weeks ago. Meanwhile To Hell & Back was sent in March and it’s still struggling...
I guarantee you that Hole in the Bottle will pass this up very shortly. They really should follow Kelsea’s example and see when a single is just not working. Cut your losses and move on before it gets any worse!

I never saw this one becoming a huge hit, but I didn’t see it being an outright flop either. Starting to wonder if it has something to do with “Hell” being in the title. Considering the momentum she had following “The Bones” though, there’s seemingly no excuse for this to not be performing better. I’d dump this ASAP if I was her label and send out “The Feels” (perfect summer song) immediately.

I chose to be optimistic about this song's chances as it was an early fan favorite when the album dropped (not to mention that CHORUS!). But, I am officially on board for dropping. It's not like she really had a streak of any kind anyway ("80s Mercedes" missing the top 10 does away with any real significant streaks) and the radio is really missing a Maren Morris summer hit right now. AMFP is the obvious choice but everyone here is right to speculate that Brothers Osborne's team likely won't want that now. "The Feels" is an excellent option or even "Flavor".

Yeah, this one just isn't getting it done the way it should be after what has arguably become her signature song. It's one thing for the recurrent spins of "The Bones" to be an obstacle in the beginning, but barely being in the Top 50 after 12 weeks and being surpassed by another woman who is brand-new? For someone who just had a crossover smash hit on a level we haven't seen in years, this just wasn't the right choice. Regardless of "hell" in the title, the potential just didn't seem there for me. I would scrap this and send out "Flavor," "The Feels," or "Gold Love" in its place this instant.

"A Song For Everything" is a single-ready song too. Honestly, I really wish they went with A Song For Everything instead of this one if they were thinking about another ballad/midtempo. But it’s beyond time Maren gives us something upbeat so I vote for either The Feels or All My Favorite People.

What if "Just For Now" and "Takes Two" were released to kinda test the waters for how they would potentially be received as singles? "Takes Two" really shouldn't be anywhere near radio imo, but it has made it onto Spotify/Apple Music playlists so that might be an indicator. While "Just For Now" sounds like something that could potentially do really well as a single!
It wouldn't necessarily involve ending the era, since she kinda just shoe-horned those songs onto the end of GIRL on streaming services, lol.
