My oh my! What a flirt this song is! I definitely turn this up when it comes on the radio and was ultimately sad to see this never be a #1 contender, although it did spend a brief amount of time in the runner-up spot as a consistent top ten contender. Oh yeah, and bboat11 scores a perfect ranking with where this peaked at on country radio back in '92. ;)
Now before I reveal the top two, I'll go ahead and do my commentary for them. I think both songs are pretty good, but not that great. I was astounded to see the support for what the eventual winner is gonna be as it was the most consistent #1 contender throughout the entire rankdown (with a few exceptions). The runner-up was also a consistent top five contender, finally ended where it ended up peaking at previously. One of these songs has a single #1 while the other has three. A few too many ranks outside the top 20 ended up pushing the potential winner into the runner-up position, but it's had a pretty respectable run. I'll be back in a few minutes! :)

“If Your Heart Ain’t Busy Tonight” definitely exceeded my expectations as I didn’t quite have it pegged to be such a strong performer in this rankdown. That said, it’s such an infectious jam that never gets old and one that I still love to hear today just as much as I did back then. Honestly everything from her What Do I Do With Me album is great and I’ve long considered that era to be one of her more consistent ones both commercially and critically as well.

I was astounded to see the support for what the eventual winner is gonna be as it was the most consistent #1 contender throughout the entire rankdown (with a few exceptions). You were astounded that "Delta Dawn" got a bunch of support? Lmao that's like being surprised when "Jolene" gets a bunch of support in the future Dolly Parton rankdown...

I feel it's somehow appropriate that "Delta Dawn" won this and was revealed on the day my nana was laid to rest, since it was one of her favorite songs of all-time, possibly the favorite. Truly a timeless classic in the fabric of country music. <3

Thanks for hosting, Cody Wants Out.... I wish "Delta Dawn" hadn't been #1. It's a great song and I really do like it, but it's not the pinnacle of her career. Great results otherwise, though. Tanya is such an important artist in country music.

Now it's my turn to be in the flopster's spotlight tim ! Haha that was just some good old harmless jabbing out of boredom! Even still, this rankdown had its fair share of floppiness going around which I think had more to do with the vast range of Tanya's discography encompassing over four decades that many also weren't all that familiar with. I personally think it's a fitting end with "Delta Dawn" coming out on top. Despite it being her very first single, it has gone on to become not just her signature song but one of the most iconic country songs of that generation. I just as easily could've put this as my top ranking song as well but decided to place it just within my top 3 if only because of overplay. "Down to My Last Teardrop" is a very worthy runner-up as it's one of her iconic songs from the early '90s that I still hear occasionally on the radio. Even after all of these years that is one song that I never get tired of hearing. Going back over Tanya's discography really brought back a lot of great childhood memories, so thanks again Cody Wants Out... for the hosting duties and taking some of us back down that memory lane!
