I don't know if anyone else is interested in this (though people on /r/popheads and similar sites always seem surprised every couple of months when they dig up Radio Disney's playlist), but Radio Disney sometimes has interesting adds. They can't play a lot of rap or some of the more risque pop that tops the charts, which leads to adds of songs that don't get much play on standard pop radio, as well as some songs from the alternative chart. Here is their Top Songs list. They used to have a real Top 30 countdown, but it hasn't been updated in months and is no longer linked anywhere on their site. Added today: 1. BTS - ON (f. Sia) 2. Selena Gomez - Feel Me 3. Lady Gaga - Stupid Love 4. Taylor Swift - The Man 5. Niall Horan - No Judgement 6. Lauv - Modern Loneliness 7. Almost Monday - parking lot view 8. Afrojack - All Night (f. Ally Brooke) 9. Lennon Stella - Golf On TV (f. JP Saxe)

Icy, NASA, Fever Dream, and Love You For A Long Time! Radio Disney might be the best top 40 station right now

Most of Alec Benjamin's spins for "Let Me Down Slowly" essentially were Sirius and Radio Disney. (Oh My God is #12 here).
Too bad the station isn't localized anymore.

Interesting. I guess this is tied to their recent add of Icy, because they definitely can't play Reminds Me. ("Takeovers" are usually connected to promoting singles.)

Added today: 1. Demi Lovato - I Love Me 2. Shoffy - Tricky (f. Sabrina Carpenter) 3. Elle Winter - Yeah No 4. Now United - Come Together 5. Sean Paul & Tove Lo - Calling On Me Surprised to see no add for Never Worn White, considering how fast Small Talk and Never Really Over were added. (Yes, it's not a single, but that didn't stop them from adding First Man.) Also, due to the Kim Petras takeover, Disney is spinning Broken and Feeling of Falling again!

The fact that Radio Disney plays more new rock than any Top 40 station... and that variety in playlists too. Any CHR station you tune into right now is bound to repeat a song every 15 or so songs, with playlists ranging from about 30 to 45 songs. All other pop stations in the vicinity are likely playing those same songs, with an older song or two to shake up the mix. It’s commendable really how much better Radio Disney is than the other pop stations. They even have more variety than a standard classic hits radio station does.

Today is my 20th Radio Disney anniversary. The first song I heard on April 12, 2000 when I first tuned in was C'est La Vie by B*Witched. This date also coincides with DJ Ernie D's birthday. I don't really have a need to listen anymore: their Top 30, a mainstay for me for years, was reduced to a Top 10 years ago. It just isn't the same anymore to listen on the app. There's something special about the sound of AM radio, waiting for your song to be played, and recording it on cassette tape. I'll continue to listen to those cassette tape recordings, some approaching 20 years old!

I only ask because I've been curious to hear a few Radio Disney edits that you can't find online. In particular Genie in a Bottle by Christina Aguilera and C'est la vie by B*Witched. Added today: 1. Alesso - Midnight (f. Liam Payne) 2. Kelly Clarkson - I Dare You 3. A Great Big World - i will always be there 4. Thomas Rhett - Be A Light (f. Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, Chris Tomlin, Hillary Scott) The actual top songs page cuts off Hillary Scott's name with a "..."

I would if they played them in 2011 for their 15th anniversary flashback series but I'm certain those two didn't make the cut.

Nice to hear from someone else who's enjoyed the station for years. I listened to it on AM in my grandfather's car for a long time, for a while simply because I was a kid who enjoyed Radio Disney, but later because I felt awkward about the more risque music that would come on regular radio. I found out through DogstarRadio they played Genie in a Bottle last year, but it might not have even been edited. Standards have changed over time. (What A Girl Wants also played that month, and was listed as the "RD Version", which indicates edits, while Genie in a Bottle was not.)

A Dose of Buckley's new video on Radio Disney addresses a few of the issues I have with the station, though the solution he suggests proposes Disney having way too much musical control. I'd never heard that Loote song before, but if they're leaving the backseat reference uncensored in it, it's a sign they're at least changing with the times. I can think of at least three occasions in which Radio Disney censored references to the backseat: 1. According to this opinion piece, it was censored in Aaron Carter's "Not Too Young, Not Too Old". 1. The Chainsmokers' "Closer", which replaced it with an echo. However, I also heard the song with the backseat line on Radio Disney once, only for them to go back to the censored version the next day. Don't have an answer for that. 2. Hilary Duff had to re-record multiple lines in "All About You" for Radio Disney, including changing "You can meet me in the backseat" to "You can meet me in the sunset". This edit has been uploaded to YouTube.

I remember in 2011 when they goofed and played the full "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" with Nick Carter's line "Am I sexual?" before reverting back to the edit.

It's just something I remember. The first Top 30 Countdown I listened to was April 16, 2000, and I have it written down and dated.

1. Marshmello & Halsey - Be Kind 2. Lennon Stella - Older Than I Am
Why have they not added "Back To Me" by Lindsay Lohan? It has a good message, she has past support from Radio Disney, and it would need only two edits in the first verse that I could do in five minutes in Audacity.
I used to blame me when shit got crazy (Hey-ey) I can't think too much 'bout what they say (Yeah, hey) And now these Sundays got me feeling like Mondays (Hey-ey) I know I drthink too much, but it's okay
Or possibly a repeat of the "I can't think too much 'bout what they say" line over the last one if they're concerned about keeping the narrative of the song coherent. (Didn't bother them in The Man by Taylor Swift though. "If I was out flashing my dollars, I'd be a flashing my dollars")

While not officially on the chart yet, Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber's "Stuck With U" has started playing today.
