Music is Madonna's 8th studio album released on September 18, 2000. Her collaboration with producers Mirwais Ahmadzaï and William Orbit resulted in a more experimental direction for the album. It has an overall dance-pop and electronica vibe, with influences from rock, country and folk. The album was mostly recorded at Sarm West and East Studios in London, England. Elaborating a country theme for the album, Madonna reinvented her image as a cowgirl. Music was generally acclaimed by most critics and earned five Grammy Award nominations, ultimately winning one for Best Recording Package given to art director Kevin Reagan. The record was also a commercial success, debuting at #1 in over 23 countries across the world and selling 4 million copies in its first ten days of release. In the United States, Music debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of 420,000 units, making it her first album to top the chart in more than a decade since Like a Prayer. It was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for three million units shipped in the United States and has sold over 11 million copies worldwide. It had 3 proper singles. The lead single, "Music", topped the record charts in 25 countries worldwide and became Madonna's 12th and last #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. It was followed with another Hot 100 top 5 hit "Don't Tell Me" and "What It Feels Like for a Girl" which attained the top 10 position in several countries worldwide.

I love the whole album but some things just have to go at the bottom and she’s done better ballads.

And now we come to the end of the first day of reveals. Let's talk about a B-side/international bonus track. This was released on the Japanese and Australian editions of the album and was the B-side on the 2 track versions of the "Music" single. It was written by Madonna and Talvin Singh. The lyrics are in the Indian language of Sanskrit. An earlier version of the song that was produced by William Orbit under the name "Mysore Style" exists. The lyrics translate to this: May all be well with mankind May the leaders of the earth in every way Protect the earth by keeping to the right path May there always be goodness For those who know the earth to be sacred May all the world be happy Whatever I do Whether my body, mind, sense, organs, intellect, self Or out of natural inclination I make it all an offering to The all-pervading supreme being Listen here in case you haven't heard this before.

#10-8 were my #9-7, so I'm not performing badly...but how is my 10 still alive? The song I placed there absolutely stunned me with how terrible it was; I didn't think many would disagree.

I knew “I Deserve It” wasn’t a strong contender compared to the rest of my top 3. I hoped it’d do a bit better though.

Look at all the happy bottoms. Nobody's Perfect didn't deserve to go out first... And JOJO SIWA DERANGEMENT SYNDROME you don't need fancy graphics, the details and curiosities that you add to each reveal are great.

I found a way to do quick graphics so it took me about 5 minutes to make all of them. I will also make the ones for the next two rankdowns since I will be announcing both at the same time but they shall be due at separate due dates.

My impact. 💅🏽
The graphics are super cute. I always did love the overall aesthetic of the album packaging this era.

Good start overall. 10. Nobody’s perfect (8): even though the vocoder is a bit too much, I like the melody and production enough to escape my bottom 2. 9. I deserve it (10): This and my #9 were very close in points, but in the end I opted for this as it was the least interesting/ most boring to me. 8. Paradise (7): before re-listening to the album I thought I was gonna rank it in my top 5. I love the more Ray of Light type of production. The electro orchestral vibe is awesome, as are her vocals. However, this time around the lyrics made me rank it lower than expected

Perfect rankings on the bottom 2 and then things took a nosedive with me losing my #2. :'(
"Paradise (Not for Me)" is absolutely GORGEOUS. I stan. I honestly almost put it at #1 just because its such a pretty song.
I've never heard "Cyber-Raga" before in my life, but I dug it and I may have actually put that one above my bottom 2 potentially if it were included.

And with that we come to our next bonus/international track. This is a cover of a song originally by Don McLean. It was featured on the soundtrack for the film The Next Best Thing and was promoted as a single. It was featured on some international versions of the Music album. Her cover is much shorter than the original (it contains only the beginning of the first verse and all of the second and sixth verses) and was recorded as a dance-pop song. It was co-produced by Madonna and William Orbit, after Rupert Everett (Madonna's co-star in The Next Best Thing) had convinced her to cover the song for the film's soundtrack. Rupert also did backing vocals on it. The Richard "Humpty" Vission remix was included on the original promo CD and some stations played that version. Original: Richard 'Humpty' Vission Radio Edit

Yeah, this is one of my fave Madonna albums and I already knew the singles would end up on top regardless but I regret nothing!

I'm honestly not sure how they will rank. WIFLFAG has grown in esteem with more people as more time has gone by but the M and DTM are CLASSICS
