I started working on this several weeks ago and meant to have finished this (outside of my tentative top ten) earlier...then too much life got in the way. Sadly, there is a chance that I'll throw something together towards the end. Luckily, I can count on up to two hands the amount of songs (about seven or eight) I'm not very familiar with (e.g. debut single, under-performing singles like "The Blues Man" and "So You Don't Have to Love Me Anymore"). However, it won't hurt listening to all of these again for old times' sake! ;)
My list should be in tomorrow if I don't make it tonight; this month has really tested me... lemme rephrase, pushed me past my limits tbh. :'(

Working on this now...hoo doggies, the preference revealer is gonna come in handy! It certainly did for me! I don't normally use that when doing rankdowns, but in the case of Alan Jackson I really needed it and even then I wasn't satisfied with what it spewed out so I had to do it a few more times lol. On that note...thanks to gardyfan we've made it to 10 lists! I'm feeling much more confident now that at a minimum we'll for sure have 15 participants which is where I was hoping we'd be by the time I closed this out. Speaking of, this is technically a 2 day reminder as I'd like to have lists in my inbox by tomorrow Wednesday, July 1st, but I'm more than happy to let y'all have a few more days if you need it. For now I still plan on doing a final reminder tomorrow and will give you more details then. Participant List:1. George Strait Junkie 2. someguy 3. Kanenrá:ke 4. sabre14 5. tim 6. castleoblivion26 7. ClevelandRox 8. bboat11 9. .indulgecountry 10. gardyfan

SUBMITTED! The only songs I didn't care for much were around my bottom five. Can't wait to see how this unfolds!

Yaay!! This is the rankdown I most eagerly anticipated. Alan is my favourite male singer and this is the perfect opportunity to re-listen to all his singles, even those that are not among my favourites. So are you still going to do this BackwoodsBarbie? I'd hate for you to miss your most eagerly anticipated rankdown!!!!!!

I'd hate for you to miss your most eagerly anticipated rankdown!!!!!! Oh thanks for going back to the thread and finding this! Yes we'd all still love to have you participate BackwoodsBarbie (and gonecountry ) so y'all still have a little more time to do so. We had a flurry of lists come in over the last couple of days which now brings us up to 16 participants!! Right now I'd still like to have all the lists in by tomorrow Saturday, July 4th, but if by chance either of you or anyone else need an extra day just let me know. Participant List:1. I'd hate for you to miss your most eagerly anticipated rankdown!!!!!! To paraphrase a great Ronnie Milsap I wouldn't miss it for the world. I was planning to send my list by the July 1st deadline but then Tim mentioned that he will extand the deadline so I also postponed the time that I will make/send my list. I may have problem with chronic procrastination but as I see it, any excuse to listen to too much of Alan's music for a few more days is a good one 😉.

This is hard, Alan's had so many great songs. I will get it in later today, God willing.
As far as non-singles, Designated Drinker w/ George Strait is one of my favorites

1. More than five songs were vying for the top spot. What song will be the winner? I'm feeling pretty good about "Gone Country"!
2. What songs will be in the top 5? "Gone Country", "Living On Love", "Midnight In Montgomery", "Here In The Real World", and maybe some kind of unexpected dark horse like "Gone Crazy".
3. What song will be in last place? "I Still Like Bologna".
4. What other songs will be in the bottom 5? "I Still Like Bologna", "It's Alright To Be A Redneck", "www.memory", "It's Just That Way", "Country Boy"...maybe "Hard Hat And A Hammer"?
5. What songs are likely to be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most: "Drive", "Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)". Least: "I Still Like Bologna, "Midnight In Montgomery".
6. Which album will be the first to be completely eliminated? Tbh I don't fully know off the top of my head which hits go with which albums... But I'll go ahead and predict Freight Train.
7. Which album will be the last to still have multiple songs remaining? NO IDEA!!!! Maybe Who I Am? It looks like it has both "Livin' On Love" and "Gone Country", and I predicted both of them for the top 5, so...
8. Any other thoughts or predictions? This is hard because many of his biggest hits are so polarizing on Pulse, I'm not sure which ones will be least affected by that! He has SO many songs that might be worthy of the top 5 depending on who was ranking them, like WWYWTWST, "Don't Rock The Jukebox", "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow", "Dallas", "Wanted", "Little Bitty", etc. but I don't think any of them will actually make it here on Pulse...

1. More than five songs were vying for the top spot. What song will be the winner? * (inhales through gritted teeth) This is really tough to say. I think "Remember When" could be a contender, despite being a ballad. I recall "Livin' on Love" getting tons of support to make the top five in the '94 Country rankdown, so it wouldn't really surprise me if it won here. 2. What songs will be in the top 5? * "Livin' on Love" seems like a favorite, "Remember When" might be able to make it, "Tall, Tall Trees" also sounds like a contender. I don't really know what else.
3. What song will be in last place? * Noticed lots of disdain for "Country Boy", but I think something else will be in last place. "The Blues Man" perhaps?
4. What other songs will be in the bottom 5? * "The Blues Man", and maybe a couple of his more recent songs like "The One You're Waiting On"?
5. What songs are likely to be most polarizing? Least polarizing? * Most polarizing will probably go to something like "Good Time" or "Jim and Jack and Hank". Least polarizing will probably favor some of his ballads like "Midnight in Montgomery" or "Remember When".
6. Which album will be the first to be completely eliminated? * I'll guess either Angels and Alcohol or Freight Train...have an inkling it'll be the former due to it being the most recent, though.
7. Which album will be the last to still have multiple songs remaining? * I see Who I Am having multiple songs in the top ten, hopefully.
8. Any other thoughts or predictions? * Super pumped for the album series; I might go ahead and take a premature dive in the next week or so! Heard some great things about his album cuts! :)

6. Which album will be the first to be completely eliminated? Tbh I don't fully know off the top of my head which hits go with which albums... But I'll go ahead and predict Freight Train. I got you! I was actually going to highlight what songs were left with each album as the rankdown progressed, so now was as good a time as ever to type it up: {Here in the Real World} “Blue Blooded Woman” “Here in the Real World” “Wanted” “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” “I’d Love You All Over Again” {Don’t Rock the Jukebox} “Don’t Rock the Jukebox” “Someday” “Dallas” “Midnight in Montgomery” “Love’s Got a Hold on You” {A Lot About Lovin’ (And a Little ‘bout Love)} “She’s Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)” “Tonight I Climbed the Wall” “Chattahoochee” “Mercury Blues” “(Who Says) You Can’t Have It All” {Who I Am} “Summertime Blues” “Livin’ on Love” “Gone Country” “Song for the Life” “I Don’t Even Know Your Name” {The Greatest Hits Collection} “Tall, Tall Trees” “I’ll Try” “Home” {Everything I Love} “Little Bitty” “Everything I Love” “Who’s Cheatin’ Who” “There Goes” “Between the Devil and Me” “A House with No Curtains” {High Mileage} “I’ll Go On Loving You” “Right on the Money” “Gone Crazy” “Little Man” {Under the Influence} “Pop a Top” “The Blues Man” “It Must Be Love” {When Somebody Loves You} “www.memory” “When Somebody Loves You” “Where I Come From” “It’s Alright to Be a Redneck” {Drive} “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” “Drive (For Daddy Gene)” “Work In Progress” “That’d Be Alright” {Greatest Hits Volume II} “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” “Remember When” {What I Do} “Too Much of a Good Thing” “Monday Morning Church” “The Talkin’ Song Repair Blues” “USA Today” {Like Red on a Rose} “Like Red on a Rose” “A Woman’s Love” {Good Time} “Small Town Southern Man” “Good Time” “Country Boy” “Sissy’s Song” “I Still Like Bologna” {Freight Train} “It’s Just That Way” “Hard Hat and a Hammer” {Thirty Miles West} “Long Way to Go” “So You Don’t Have to Love Me Anymore” “You Go Your Way” {Angels and Alcohol} “Jim and Jack and Hank” “The One You’re Waiting On”

1. More than five songs were vying for the top spot. What song will be the winner? I'm feeling pretty good about "Gone Country"! I'm glad someone is feeling good about me. This was a very challenging rankdown, IMO. I am hopeful for my #1, but feel my #2 is going to be wildly divergent.

1. More than five songs were vying for the top spot. What song will be the winner? "Don't Rock the Jukebox" is my guess. Very hard to predict tho!
2. What songs will be in the top 5? "Gone Country," "Midnight in Montgomery," "Livin' on Love," "Mercury Blues"
3. What song will be in last place? "I Still Like Bologna" prob.
4. What other songs will be in the bottom 5? "Country Boy," "It's Alright to Be a Redneck," "It's Just That Way," "The Blues Man"
5. What songs are likely to be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most: The one about 9/11, "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" | Least: "Bologna" (if anyone has this one outside their personal bottom 10... lmfao)
6. Which album will be the first to be completely eliminated? Freight Train strikes me as an album that will go quick. Neither single from it is thought of highly at all. I could see both being out in the bottom 10-15.
7. Which album will be the last to still have multiple songs remaining? Don't Rock the Jukebox cause I think it'll have at least 2 songs in the top 5 or close to it.
8. Any other thoughts or predictions? This is all a crap-shoot imo. His catalog is really hard to predict, because so many of his most signature hits are songs that have been overplayed to death and/or are highly polarizing. And he just has SO many hits, lol.

1. More than five songs were vying for the top spot. What song will be the winner? Going with "Don't Rock The Jukebox" seems like a good well rounded Alan song.
2. What songs will be in the top 5? "Don't Rock The Juke Box", "Livin' On Love", "Here In The Real World", "Midnight In Montgomery", "Drive (For Daddy Gene)"
3. What song will be in last place? "I Still Like Bologna"
4. What other songs will be in the bottom 5? "It's Just That Way", "It's Alright To Be A Redneck", "www.memory", "Blue Blooded Woman"
5. What songs are likely to be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most: WWYWTWST, Country Boy Least:"Livin' On Love" & "I Still Like Bologna"
6. Which album will be the first to be completely eliminated? Freight Train
7. Which album will be the last to still have multiple songs remaining? Who I Am
8. Any other thoughts or predictions?
I'm so anxious to see if some of my favorites can survive till the top half at least!

Thanks to all of those that have taken the time for the pre-reveal questions as I know those are never easy to answer when there's such an expansive discography such as Alan's. We couldn't have started the party without Kanenrá:ke so I'm glad to see he's back! I had anticipated on doing the first five reveals yesterday evening, but I must've been on Pulse at the wrong time because the site was intermittently going down and I ended up losing a couple preformatted posts I had been editing...so I just decided to call it an evening lol. With that said, I do plan on getting this underway later today and will reveal the bottom 5...and if time permits maybe even the bottom 10!

Howdy y'all! I'm about ready to get started on revealing the bottom 5 songs, but before I do I wanted to let y'all know that I'm going to kind of change up the format a bit. I often find I'm just repeating myself with the additional commentary as a follow-up to the reveal, so I've opted to forgo doing that here and instead will be taking a page from a fellow member and rankdown host who provides some stats prior to the reveal. In turn I rarely seem to offer my own personal thoughts on songs when I'm hosting, so I'll probably do a little more of that this go-around. Anyways, y'all will see what I mean here shortly lol.
Alright hang tight because the first song out is coming up and is going to be a complete shock to everyone :O
