Random country question- is I Hope by Gabby Barrett a legit country hit? I saw it at #10 on iTunes and was surprised. Yes! It is currently #11 on Country Airplay and has been consistently amongst the most streamed country songs for the past few months. Sheβs also really the first idol contestant to take off since season 11 :) |

Not everything needs to be "viral", sometimes the song is just amazing. It's still odd a song that was so unlike anything on the charts, not only became a bit but topped the streaming charts and nearly topped the actual charts. I know hip-hop wasn't as dominant back in 2014 but still. It'd be like if the charts were full of safe, fun, light pop songs and then suddenly, Jesus is the One (I Got Depression) became a Top 3 hit. Like I wouldn't be complaining but I'd still be asking how the hell did this happen. |

TMTC fits pretty well in with Royals, Pompeii and Habits (Stay High) and other quirky indie-flavoured pop hits of that time. The year or two after it was a different story.

If bars and restaurants start to close nationwide quickly will that impact streams? Iβm thinking for places that play music all the time. Or is it not streaming platforms that most of those places use?

^Regardless of their source of music, be it streaming or radio, they do count, but probably only account for a small percent of the weekly numbers.
