"More Than You Know" was THE hit. I think it was just as big as "Despacito" here in Greece. Also, I've been meaning to check out MARINA's latest album. "Orange Trees" is cute and Lefkada is beautiful.

Underrated Bop of April 5th, 2020 Carly Rae Jepsen - "Tonight I'm Getting Over You"
Released: September 14, 2012 Album/EP: Kiss Genre: Electro-pop, Dubstep
Chart Success: #1 Ukraine #6 Belgium #20 Scotland #25 Slovakia #27 Denmark #32 Ireland #33 UK #38 Australia #40 New Zealand #44 Netherlands #49 Poland #74 Switzerland #82 France #88 Canada #90 US Billboard Hot 100 #32 US Mainstream Top 40
Background: The 3rd single off Kiss is a Max Martin and Lukas Hilbert penned breakup song that takes heavy dubstep and electropop influences and lyrically it is about what the name would suggest, getting over an ex. The song has a remix featuring the one and only Nicki Minaj but for I am ignoring it cause I don't care for Nicki's verse on it. In regards to chart performance this song similar to previous single This Kiss didn't perform anywhere as well as Call Me Maybe and this was the final single released from the record. Also, little fun fact Lukas Hilbert also produced "I Didn't Just Come Here To Dance" from Emotion, which is a BOP.
Rating: 10/10 I absolutely love the production on this song and the melody is just very catchy, it probably alongside Curiosity are my top two songs from the album. The lyrics are definitely nothing special at all but damn that melody, it's good af. I honestly believe this should have been the immediate follow-up to CMM over This Kiss, which was a pretty meh single pick to begin with. Though I am fortunate things played out the way they did cause who knows what would have happened if the rest of Kiss was a huge commercial success, we may not have gotten Emotion and Dedicated in the way we got them. Since Emotion cemented her as pop gold status and made her receive a huge cult following.Tags: Normi born Mylo13 💜 beach1 Choco .indulgecountry Crimsonio deepston BB🌕 Sambalada walt91 surfy fearlessarrow @jadenlefranks DistrictTwelve If you have ANY suggestions feel free to write them in this thread or in a personal message to me and I will get to them when I can, thank you for following along with me on our journey for great music!

Underrated Bop of April 10, 2020Madonna - "Nothing Really Matters" Released: February 22, 1998 Album/EP: Ray of Light Genre: Dance-pop, Techno-pop
Chart Success: #1 Hungary #1 Spain #5 Iceland #5 Greece #6 Finland #7 Canada #7 UK #7 New Zealand #9 Scotland #15 Australia #16 European Hot 100 Singles #26 Switzerland #28 Ireland #29 Austria #34 Netherlands #38 Germany #39 Belgium #41 Sweden #48 France #93 US Billboard Hot 100 #25 US Mainstream Top 40
Background: The 5th and final single release from the critically acclaimed Ray of Light is a dance-techno influenced number that is lyrically influenced both by the criticism Madonna always received for her image and music and also influenced by the birth of her daughter Lourdes Leon, two years prior to Ray of Light. The song is about the strength of love between her and her daughter is strong enough to block off all the criticism. This track was one of the first songs made for the album and was made before the album was even named.
Rating: 10/10 Easily one of my favorite songs of all time from Madonna alongside many of the other tracks on Ray of Light such as Frozen and The Power of Good-Bye, the production on this song is stellar and has so many minor details that are just wonderful. I also love Madonna's vocal performance and the melody and lyricism of the track are all likewise fantastic. If you pay attention to the production you can pick up on many ambient sounds and noises throughout the whole track. Easily one of the best productions I have ever heard honestly, the attention to detail is impeccable.

A top 5 hit in Greece? My impact! (even though I wasn’t alive in 1998 lol) If it's any consolation The song saw single release a year later in the 2nd of March I always put when the song is available first as the release date, hence why it's going off the album's release date

I loved this single when it came out. It's one of my favorites by Madonna. The video is weird but cool. I agree the production is great.

Underrated Bop of 4/11/2020Childish Gambino - "3005"Released: October 22nd, 2013 Album/EP: Because the Internet Genre: Rap
Chart Success: #64 US Billboard Hot 100 #79 UK #81 Australia
Background: The lead single off his 2nd album is a song that lyrically is primarily about wanting to be with someone and not being alone. Though the song's interpretation is open as Gambino himself says, so the song is open to any real interpretation of the listener. My interpretation is that Gambino simply doesn't want to be alone in this crazy world. He wrote the song influenced partly by an experience when he was young and a house down the street where he lived had a big scary dog. He was scared of it but he got over his fear when he knew he had to walk his younger sister. He got over his fear by having his sister there, finding a purpose in it. So thats why my interpretation is that the song lyrically is about wanting to avoid the feeling of being alone.
Rating: 10/10 Easily my favorite song from Gambino and one of my all time favorite songs of it's genre, I love the flow, the production, and the lyrics. It is such a nostalgic feel good song that I can't just help but love every time I listen to it, it never gets old for me.Tags: Normi born Mylo13 💜 beach1 Choco .indulgecountry Crimsonio deepston BB🌕 Sambalada walt91 surfy fearlessarrow @jadenlefranks DistrictTwelve If you have ANY suggestions feel free to write them in this thread or in a personal message to me and I will get to them when I can, thank you for following along with me on our journey for great music!

Underrated Bop of 4/14/2020Nikki Williams - "Glowing"Released: December 4th, 2012 Album/EP: N/A Genre: Electro-pop
Chart Success: #1 US Bubbling Under Hot 100 #20 US Mainstream Top 40 #76 Canada
Background: 2012 and 2013 are two years really well known for electro-pop music especially with big productions and drops were the thing, this is one of those songs that fits that bubble. The song was I believe William's first commercial release that was pushed to radio...and probably the only one. The song lyrically is pretty straightforward and is about how that one special person makes you come alive and light up. The song is very much of it's time and did pretty decent on pop radio for a no name artist whose only other noteworthy thing is that she co-wrote and demo'd Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack". The song unfortunately like many song stalled right outside the Hot 100 and didn't go any further than #20 on pop radio. The one other piece of info about this song I can give you, Bebe Rexha has a co-write.
Rating: 10/10 I honestly absolutely love this, the song is probably really nostalgic for me cause I listened to it a lot in 2013, and anything from 2008-2014 has huge nostalgia on me. The song itself truly isn't anything amazing, but I love the melody and these types of songs were so my thing back then. Only other thing worth mentioning, this girl literally disappeared and hasn't had a single release since 2013 aside from one random feature in 2018. Underrated Bop of 4/14/2020Alexandra Stan - "Lemonade"Released: June 12, 2012 Album/EP: Cliche (Hush Hush) Genre: Reggae-pop, Dubstep
Chart Success: #1 Bulgaria #18 Slovakia #22 Romania #25 Italy #27 Japan #38 Hungary #70 Czech Republic
Background: The lead single off the reissue of the Romanian pop star's debut record Saxobeats, this song was a summery 2012 pop number that sonically is very reminiscent to the work of Ace of Base and Mr. President. Lyrically it's about the happiness and euphoria of being in love during the summer. The song incorporates a bit of dubstep in the bridge and in a few other places of the track.
Rating: 10/10 I love honestly a ton of songs that I have heard from Alexandra Stan, the regular person only knows her for Mr. Saxobeat but she has so much better. This song is both nostalgic in terms of it's sound and it is just such a feel good song, literally the type of song that defines summer. If you happen to like this song, I definitely recommend checking out more from Alexandra Stan. Some songs from her that I enjoy include Cliche (Hush Hush), Get Back (ASAP), Give Me Your Everything, and Cherry Pop (if you love Kpop sounds, that last one is right up ur ally).Tags: Normi born Mylo13 💜 beach1 Choco .indulgecountry Crimsonio deepston BB🌕 Sambalada walt91 surfy fearlessarrow @jadenlefranks DistrictTwelve If you have ANY suggestions feel free to write them in this thread or in a personal message to me and I will get to them when I can, thank you for following along with me on our journey for great music!

"Glowing" is a fantastic choice for an underrated bop. It's definitely rather simple in the way the song was constructed, but in my opinion a very effective song. I also conducted some research out of curiosity, and figured out it was the first song on my personal chart to go at least three weeks at #1 on there! So I would definitely rate it a 10/10 as well.
Also love your inclusion of an interactive suggestion feature; I will have to engage with that!

Underrated Bop of 4/15/2020will.i.am ft Eva Simons - "This Is Love"Released: June 1, 2012 Album/EP: #willpower Genre: EDM, House
Chart Success: #1 UK #1 Scotland #1 Slovakia #1 Portugal #1 Belgium #1 Finland #1 Hungary #1 Norway #2 Lebanon #2 Netherlands #3 Poland #3 Luxemborg #5 New Zealand #7 Australia #8 Switzerland #9 Spain #10 Sweden #14 Canada #15 Czech Republic #15 Austria #18 Italy #23 Denmark #24 Romania #25 Honduras #54 Germany #10 US Bubbling Under Hot 100
Background: The lead single off the 4th solo album from will.i.am, as we all know for being apart of The Black Eyed Peas. The song is an EDM house dance track like many of it's kind during it's release. will.i.am and Eva both wrote the song, with the former being on of the producers on the track. Though Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia helped co-write and co-produce the track, Ingrosso being mentioned in this thread for his work on "More Than You Know". Max Martin the Swedish hitmaker himself also has a co-write on this track. The song was a massive international success but it never saw single release in the states for some reason, Scream & Shout was the first US single instead. Lyrically the song is another case of not being anything special, but I just love William's flow on the verses and Eva's vocals on the chorus over such a good production. It has all the elements I love from BEP is one thing I note.
Rating: 10/10 I have always loved will.i.am since I grew up listening to a lot of BEP and I also have loved many of his solo efforts over the years. I also already loved Eva Simons because I was familiar with her track with Afrojack, "Take Over Control", which was an absolute bop. Throw in production work from two members of one of my DJ groups and it just is begging to work. I absolutely love this song, it feels so nostalgic of such a better time and place, the production is killer, and I love William's flow and Eva's vocal performance. It all comes together to be something I just absolutely can't help but love. Underrated Bop of 4/16/2020Tori Kelly - "Should've Been Us"Released: June 2, 2015 Album/EP: Unbreakable Smile Genre: Pop, R&B
Chart Success: #51 US Billboard Hot 100 #16 US Mainstream Top 40 #64 Canada #91 Australia #94 Scotland
Background: The 2nd single release from her debut album, lyrically the song sees Tori singing about a relationship that could have been great but it failed to ever happen, therefore she is lamenting it. The song similar to her debut single "Nobody Love" stalled out at the same position on Pop radio in the US at #16, this peaked only 9 spots higher than Nobody Love on the Hot 100. Though internationally it did way worse than Nobody Love which is damn shame. She promoted the hell out of this song and your lying if you say she wasn't THE highlight of the 2015 VMA's. Ironically enough, around and after that amazing performance, pop radio pulled the plug on this song. Weirdly enough a similar thing happened to her next single "Hollow" in which pop radio pulled the plug after her Grammy performance, which once again was a killer performance.
Rating: 10/10 This was one of my favorite 2015 songs and I immediately fell in love with Tori Kelly with this song and Nobody Love, the chorus is infectious honestly and her vocals are just so good. The 90's R&B influence is definitely there and adds some charm to the song but honestly the whole song is just something I love. She was my favorite new artist in 2015 and I am still pressed pop radio did her dust. If you like this song, check out more from her, some songs I recommend is Dear No One, All In My Head, Change Your Mind, and Coffee. Also if you haven't seen her 2015 VMA's performance of the song, go fix that, it is stellar. Underrated Bop of 4/17/2020Wynter Gordon - "Dirty Talk"Released: February 17, 2010 Album/EP: With the Music I Die Genre: Dance-pop, House
Chart Success: #1 Australia #3 Belgium #8 Ireland #18 Scotland #25 UK #33 Denmark #50 France #1 US Hot Dance Club Songs
Background: The debut single release from Wynter Gordon who prior to this was known for singing the hook on Flo Rida's hit song "Sugar". The song is a dance-pop track with very sexual lyrics that screams nightclub play, which the song did get a lot of. Wynter delivers very light soft vocals on the song as she sings of very sexual bedroom fantasies. The song never got a push is the states but I do recall that radio was playing this on it's own to the point where it reached the 70s on Pop radio, which is a shame cause if she had gotten an official radio push this song could have probably done well. Since radio around this point was latching onto some pretty sexual songs or would come to in the next year when songs like Riri's "S&M", Dev's "In The Dark" and Enrique's "Tonight I'm Fucking You" saw a lot of commercial success. The song did see commercial success internationally but nothing else from Wynter ever saw much commercial success after this unfortunately.
Rating: 10/10 This song is a complete earworm, it is infectious and Wynter vocally delivers the exact voice that just carries the song. Over an amazing house production the song is just a really good club banger. I also do love my fair share of hoe anthems sooooo, this is right my up ally in terms of lyrics and sound. A little plus is that the good sis is from Queens, NY and more importantly the Jamaica area of Queens which I where I grew up. So gotta give her the same brownie points I give to Nicki. Underrated Bop of 4/18/2020Normani ft 6LACK - "Waves"Released: November 15, 2018 Album/EP: TBA Genre: R&B
Chart Success: #36 New Zealand #33 US Rhythmic
Background: Normani's second official single release following the major success of "Love Lies", the song is a slow smooth R&B track with very atmospheric and hypnotic synths throughout the track that lyrically is about the highs and lows of a relationship that has it's on again and off again moments meaning it is tumultuous. The song was surprisingly not a commercial success like Love Lies, and it was eventually swept under the rug when "Dancing With A Stranger" took off in January of 2019. It failed to even bubble under the Hot 100, they also released the music video by the time the song was done on radio.
Rating: 10/10 This song is a trance, I love Normani's vocals over the atmospheric production that just captivates you. 6LACK does his thing in the bridge and adds his rich adlibs in the final chorus, this song alongside "Love Lies" just showed the R&B direction is Normani's calling. I also absolutely loved the music video for this song, it compliments it perfectly. If you have yet to hear this definitely listen to it, it probably is Normani's best offering so far though I have loved all her releases thus far. Underrated Bop of 4/20/2020Aly & AJ - "Potential Breakup Song"Released: June 26, 2007 Album/EP: Insomniatic Genre: Synth-pop, Electro Rock
Chart Success: #3 Venezuela #16 Ireland #17 US Billboard Hot 100 #18 Norway #22 UK #31 Scotland #65 European Hot 100 #72 Canada #83 Netherlands
Background: The lead single from there 2nd album Insomniatic, it was a very experimental song that leaned heavily into a more electronic synth sound over the sister's previous efforts which were mostly just pop rock. The song's title and it's use in the chorus is rather self aware because they knowingly address the song as a breakup song and mention that there album just needs one. Which lets be real, pop albums always have break up songs of some sort in them so it's pretty meta. Lyrically it is exactly what you would expect by the title, it's a breakup song. The song is there biggest hit, reaching top 20 on the Hot 100 though ti didn't have much longevity cause there label, the ever so hated Hollywood Records took forever to send the song to airplay, the hype was kinda dead by then. I imagine this would have been a hit if it got radio airplay support much sooner cause it was selling very well and saw constant rotation on TRL and Disney Channel. Also this song lyrically is about Joe Jonas, who Aly dated back then and the birthday line is a true story. Well that and she apparently mailed Joe a piece of birthday cake to make him feel like s**t. That bit is a complete revelation to me while I was doing my research, the more you know lol.
Rating: 10/10 This song is so nostalgic cause it aired heavily when I was growing up and it was something I always loved. I love Aly & AJ vocally and I always love the slight rock approach there first two albums had. I think the electronic production and synth heavy chorus just lends itself nicely to a rock instrumental. Probably one of my favorite songs growing up around that time, in due part to Disney and TRL constantly playing it so it always stuck with me. Still a favorite from them and I'm so happy they are doing music again, check out there stuff, they are amazing. Underrated Bop of 4/21/2020Janet Jackson - "Feedback"Released: December 26, 2007 Album/EP: Discipline Genre: Electropop, R&B
Chart Success: #3 Canada #5 Belgium #8 Slovakia #16 Norway #17 New Zealand #19 US Billboard Hot 100 #21 Finland #27 Denmark #32 Ireland #34 Romania #36 France #40 Germany #41 Sweden #47 Austria #50 Australia #51 Switzerland #59 Netherlands
Background: The lead single from 2008's Discipline, Feedback was a major departure from Janet's previous albums and took on a much more electropop sound that gives Janet's vocals a processed slight robotic feeling to them. Lyrically the song is also very sexual and uses a lot of metaphors and analogies to represent climaxing. The song was Janet's highest chart entry in many places post All For You era but it stalled out and fell off the charts not too long after. Why you may ask? Janet was still being affected by the damage of 2004's Superbowl where she was unfairly blamed, barred, and blacklisted from just about everything because the world is garbage. The backlash was still affected her success and it is exactly why Janet hasn't had a big hit since Someone To Call My Lover. This song was also pretty ahead of it's time because electropop and club beats would become the it thing in literally a year later to where so many artists were doing it.
Rating: 10/10 A classic and probably my favorite Janet songs post All For You era, the song truly was ahead of it's time and is a total bop. I am still mad that this didn't get to be huge and I hate Justin Timberlake. Underrated Bop of 4/22/2020Marina and the Diamonds - "How To Be A Heartbreaker"Released: April 27, 2012 Album/EP: Electra Heart Genre: Electropop, Dance-pop
Chart Success: #3 Poland #18 Denmark #21 Ireland #23 Finland #29 Hungary #73 Scotland #88 UK
Background: Released as the 3rd and final single from 2012's Electra Heart, the song is apart of the album's concept which is supposed to a chaotic destructive character named Electra Heart who is inspired by American female archetypes, more or less she is supposed a beautiful girl who lives a reckless wild life and plays around too much to where she essentially ends up going crazy and commits suicide via pills. This track fits along the line of the reckless side as lyrically she is playing around with boys who she isn't in love with in order to avoid heartbreak altogether. The song is produced by the infamous Dr. Luke and also produced by Benny Blanco and Cirkut. All of whom also co-wrote the song with Marina.
Rating: 10/10 Probably one of my favorite pop productions and melodies is in this song, I also absolutely loved Electra Heart when it came out and still do. Conceptually it sees out a really bright vision and I think it nails it cause Marina prior and even after this didn't release music of this style, it was all a character that she created for this album. If you happen to like this song and already haven't, listen to Electra Heart and maybe consider watching the series of visuals Marina put out for the record, it helps ties it all together imo. Underrated Bop of 4/23/2020Kylie Minogue - "Slow"Released: November 3, 2003 Album/EP: Body Language Genre: Electropop, Synth-pop
Chart Success: #1 Australia #1 Denmark #1 Romania #1 Scotland #1 Spain #1 UK #2 Eurochart Hot 100 #3 Greece #3 Finland #4 Norway #4 Hungary #5 Ireland #6 Italy #6 Canada #8 Netherlands #8 Germany #9 New Zealand #16 Sweden #18 Switzerland #20 Austria #45 France #91 US Billboard Hot 100 #35 US Mainstream Top 40
Background: The lead single off of Body Language was released in late 2003, two years after previous lead single the worldwide smash Can't Get You Out of my Head. Following the massive international success of Fever, this song continued that train of international success attaining the peak position on many music charts including in her native country Australia. The song is much more sexually charged than the majority of Fever with Mingoue taking up a more sensual and seductive vocal approach with the song. Unfortunately, the song would be Kylie's last chart entry on the Hot 100 because the US is fucking garbage and ignores her existence.
Rating: 10/10 I absolutely love Kylie and Slow is such a good song that has such pleasant sensual undertones over a stellar production. It probably is my top favorite from it's album and one of my favorites from 2000s work. If you like this I recommend checking out Kylie in general, I'd say Fever is the best album to start with. Underrated Bop of 4/26/2020Kimbra - "Come Into My Head"Released: August 29, 2011 Album/EP: Vows Genre: Funk Rock, Indie Pop
Background: The sixth and final single from New Zealand singer Kimbra's debut album Vows, most of you might know Kimbra for featuring on Gotye's international hit "Somebody That I Used To Know". Althought that song was a massive hit, none of Kimbra's music really got pushed outside of Australia and New Zealand, a missed opportunity if you asked me. This song takes on a slight funk and rock influence to Kimbra' predominantly indie pop sound that most of Vows has. Lyrically Kimbra is singing about wanting presumably her lover to think and see things the way she sees them since there clearly is an issue of understanding between them as she feels misunderstood.
Rating: 10/10 Vows is a really good album and this song is tied with "Cameo Lover" as my favorite from Kimbra. I think sonically it's a unique sound that isn't very common and lyrically it is relatabale. The feeling of being misunderstood and seen as mad or crazy by your peers is one I feel pretty often. I think the song portrays that madness in a comical way and I think Kimbra just adds a lot of energy, attitude, and personality through her vocals on the song. I also absolutely love the music video for this song, definitely give her music and videos a look. I recommend the majority of Vows as a great starting point.
