Underrated Bop of 8/5/2020A. R. Rahman ft. Nicole Scherzinger - "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)"Released: February 23, 2009 Album/EP: Doll Domination Genre: Pop, Bollywood
Background: An English remake of the original Jai Ho made for the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire, the song was created through the combined efforts of many including Scherzinger to maintain the melody of the original song. The song was a massive international success, though it for some reason didn't go big in the US outside of peaking at #15 on the Hot 100 but pop radio stalled it out at #37 racist ass country. Rating: 10/10 I honestly love the original Jai Ho but I also really love this version of the song, I love that it maintains elements of the original song while making it an accessible pop song, Nicole sells the song well and its one of my favorites from her PCD days. So it's been a hot minute but I'll start doing these again lol I will be making a new addition to these though, I'll be adding in a new recently released/current underrated bop to each reveal that I think people should definitely check out!
Underrated Bop of 11/12/2020SOPHIE - "Immaterial"Released: June 15, 2018 Album/EP: OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES Genre: Electronic, Bubblegum Pop, Experimental Pop
Background: Track #8 off Scottish DJ and producer Sophie's debut album the song features uncredited vocals from Cecile Believe, who provides vocals for most of the album, lyrically the song discusses the feeling of irrelevancy and tackles gender dysphoria, a problem Sophie herself has faced many comments over in the past in this bubbly experimental electro-pop bop. Rating: It's a fantastic bubbly fun song that is cleverly written while also being insanely catchy, Cecile's vocals over Sophie's production is just stellar and dreamy. Do check out the entirety of this amazing album if you already haven't.
New Song of 11/12/2020 Little Mix - "Sweet Melody"
Background: The current and recently released single off Little Mix's 6th studio album titled Confetti, the song is a bass-heavy dance-pop track penned by MNEK and Tayla Parx and produced by the former that lyrically is about a guy who uses his musical talents to charm and play around and take advantage of his lover. Jade and Leigh-Anne immediately fell in love with the song upon hearing it from Tayla and Jade also mentions that she found it similar to there former hit single Touch but more grown.
Rating: Probably my favorite Little Mix single ironically since Touch, I really love the production and the the vocal performances on the track deliver from all 4 ladies. I am currently in looooove with the song if my pfp at the moment didn't give that notion away lol.

New Song of 11/12/2020 Little Mix - "Sweet Melody"

f**k this is probably the best discovery I've made from your thread. I've never been big into Little Mix though I've liked a handful of their songs over the years, but this is straight FIRE and the video is too. What a huge bop. Damn.

Aight ladies, gays, and the few straights out there on Pulse, we got a double feature starring Victoria MonΓ©t today!
Underrated Bop of 12/2/2020Victoria MonΓ©t & Khalid ft. SG Lewis - "Experience"Released: June 19, 2020 Album/EP: Jaguar Genre: R&B, Disco
Background: Released in the summer of this year, Experience is a Disco-Pop R&B bop duet between Victoria and Khalid featuring production work from SG Lewis, who you may be familiar with as he produced Dua Lipa's "Hallucinate" this year. The song is included on Victoria's 2020 EP Jaguar and fits in lane with the nostalgic disco pop vibes that have been very big in the pop scene this year. The song was released on Juneteenth of this year which is in the middle of Pride month as a celebration of Pride month and black people in general from both Victoria and Khalid. Rating: I've been a whore for this sound of music this entire year and this is up there as one of my top favorites, I loved it immediately upon first listen and it only has gotten better from there. I wish this got sent to pop radio but it seems like none of Victoria's work will ever get pushed there sadly.
New Song of 12/2/2020 Victoria MonΓ©t ft. Kehlani - "Touch Me"
Background: Also from Victoria's 2020 EP, this song got a remix that added Kehlani onto the song. The song is a very sensual R&B that doesn't hide its topic of sex at all. Both Victoria and Kehlani nail there vocal performances that offer even more vibey sensual sexy vibes to the song between the lyrics and production.
Rating: Currently am obsessed with this song, the chemistry they offer up on this song is spicy yet sweet. I definitely recommend checking out both of theses bops from Victoria.

Since we are approaching the end of the year, gonna spend the rest of the month sharing my favorites of 2022!
Underrated Bop of 12/18/2022 Foxes - "Forgive Yourself"
Released: February 11, 2022 Album/EP: The Kick Genre: Dance-Pop, Electropop
Background: Track #9 off English singer-songwriter Foxes' third studio album, best known for featuring on Zedd's hit song "Clarity". Forgive Yourself is a Dance-pop track that lyrically is about being too hard on your own self and self-love/forgiveness for your own shortcomings. The song is uplifting both lyrically and sonically as the production just becomes massive in the chorus. I'm a huge sucker personally for tracks that find ways to tackle personal topics and still construct an upbeat and uplifting song that doesn't feel like the message is lost to the production.
Rating: 10/10; after the chaos of 2020-2021, starting this year off with this and the rest of Foxes' euphoric album was easily a highlight and Forgive Yourself is admittedly my favorite song of 2022 altogether. It combines everything I love in a pop song into one package and as much as I love Foxes' I was surprised just how good and different this was for her.

Underrated Bop of 12/20/2022 FLO - "Feature Me"
Released: July 8, 2022 Album/EP: The Lead Genre: Contemporary R&B, Hip Hop Soul
Background: Track #4 off rising British trio girl group FLO, the track is a mix of contemporary R&B and hip hop soul in a style very reminiscent of Aaliyah's "One In A Million", with MNEK being one of the producers on the song. FLO vocally harkens back to the styles of 90s to early 2000s girl groups (Sugababes, En Vogue, SWV, etc) and this song is a song about intimacy with a lover. The title of the track also was the main inspiration of the EP's name.
Rating: 9/10; easily among my favorites of the golden year that was 2022 for R&B. The moment I heard the song I immediately heard the "One In A Million" parallels and its became my favorite song from FLO thus far, though their entire output so far has been nothing short of fantastic.
