To be honest this sounds perfect right now for summertime. Easily something to dance to when we eventually do get to come together again and throw a beach party or two. Not to mention Halsey's reach will be great with streaming (as already evidenced). I can easily see this being Kelsea's "The Bones" at radio. Hoping this goes very far; it seems like it's already starting to move the needle!
I'm not gonna speak to other songs that could've been released...because (lol) I still haven't had the chance to hear the album yet.

While I agree this is not a country song, I really enjoy it and can see it gaining traction at radio. I’m looking forward to hearing the ‘country mix’ without a doubt.
Moreover, in the midst of all of this discussion regarding would-be single choices, let’s not forget that there are still future opportunities for the more country-leaning tracks to get their due at radio.

this is my least favorite song on album "love me like a girl" or "hole in the bottle" should be her next single

I feel like I’m currently unsure about this song as a single choice on country radio...
On one hand, it definitely is the stand-out song from the album and I feel it’s among Kelsea’s & Halsey’s best tracks in both their discographies - but I do not think it is going to be the next ‘The Bones’/‘Meant to Be’. It seems like country has a love/hate relationship with Kelsea, and while her poppier stuff tends to do better than her traditional sounding singles I feel ‘Hole in the Bottle’ or ‘Half of My Hometown’ were far better single choices (especially HOMH).
It’s not that I want to criticize this song for being too poppy, because 95% of what’s on the country radio is crossover/pop but I am a bit skeptical about this one. I hope it proves to be a hit for her, but I don’t see it is as being an ‘obvious smash’ as others here seem to be thinking..

And just like that Halsey began working herself into the country industry. A very nice little track! Or, is Kelsea working her way the other direction? A song with Halsey, a co-write with Ed Shearan, and the only solo write she did on the album is about her love-hate relationship with LA. Seems she is feeling that age-old tug to be a pop star.

Kelsea will eventually go pop I think. Her music has always leaned towards pop. I also think she’d have more success in the pop genre.

I don't think Kelsea Ballerini will go full on pop as outside of her Chainsmokers collaboration I don't recall any of her singles going to pop radio, and I feel like if a country artist was going to crossover to pop they would need to be similar to Taylor Swift and already have an established relationship with pop radio beforehand. The only artists I can see in the foreseeable future crossing over is Dan + Shay but even then I have doubts.

I'm not a country purist by any means, but this is pushing it really far.

There's nothing even remotely country about it even by today's hazy definition. But, I really like this. They both sound good, and the Crossroads performance is excellent.

Country or not, this is a great song. I love the euphoric vibe that the production and instrumentation has going on, and the melody is really strong as well, and both Kelsea and Halsey sound great.

Love this song. Keslea’s new album is pretty good and this is def a highlight. Halsey is also fantastic, her songwriting is excellent.

Are the alternate mixes out yet? This is growing on me but interested in hearing the version serviced to country radio.

Has anyone heard the ‘country’ mix yet? I read elsewhere that The Highway played it earlier this week. Per Kelsea’s IG, it should be widely available this Friday.

I don't like that mix at all. Thankfully the original has grown on me.

I don't see how this mix is supposed to fit any better on country radio than the original mix? The clicking/shuffling/beat is actually more jarring than the original pop song.

LMAO this new mix is just as pop as the original. I love Kelsea but come on, you said a COUNTRY mix was coming.
Don't get me started on the damn clicking...to the original I go because the song was much better as is.

The mix is labeled as 'the other mix,' so I don't think this is the 'country' mix. The plan might be to drop several versions.

How about the label gave this an actual push? The song is hanging on pretty fine on Apple and Itunes, receiving Pop and Country adds over the last weeks. Its been taking off at country radio ever since her album dropped. Wtf are they waiting for? I can see this being another Meant To Be, or at least another The Bones

There's still nothing Country about it, I'm not sure why they thought it was with the mix. Don't get me started on that goddamn clicking. How about the label gave this an actual push? I can see this being another Meant To Be, or at least another The Bones They are giving it an actual push, it's officially going for adds today...I foresee an adds date for HAC and Pop soon as well.

I gave the ‘other mix’ a listen on my headphones (standard iPhone companions, for those wondering) and the clicking sound was less prominent than when I listened to it on my speaker. I also noted that the vocals were mixed differently, and a certain ‘depth’ in Kelsea’s voice that I enjoyed on the original track was absent.
