I'm laughing at all of you in here expecting a song that's TikTok bait to be a masterpiece. This song was engineered to be a hit and it will do just that. That's all there is to it. He'll release a bunch of other singles before his album eventually comes out. Relax and enjoy it and if you can't do that, check out the other new songs/albums I posted about. Most of them are amazing. DO NOT DOUBT OR QUESTION THE DRAKE JUST SUBMIT

In sadder news, Bill Withers has passed away from heart complications. RIP. I'm really hoping some songs return, man really has created some timeless classics.

I can't believe the new Dababy song sampled Friends by Marshmello & Anne-Marie.

the sad thing about Toosie that it would have been a fine enough song if it had just had regular Drake lyrics

Most of them are amazing. or will it? I feel like Drakes ability to make viral hits is based off him being natural, but this track is the first time Drake feels like he's trying too hard. Most of it I actually like, and it's definetly miles ahead of Yummy. The problem is the chorus. Personally, I don't mind it. But I totally see how it's giving people Yummy vibes. Yummys biggest problem was it's chorus. The chorus of Tootsie Slide reeks of begging for Tiktok virality in the most basic way possible. Well, that was the entire point. Drake isn't hiding the fact that that was his intention. I get that this is his first solo single since Money in the Grave and everyone was expecting this huge, bombastic single and they got this instead and they're confused. Well, there's nothing confusing about it to me. Knowing Drake, he more than likely has a dozen other hits in his bag that he'll release this year, but in more ways than one, this song feels like the *right* move to make right now. Everything from the song itself to it's music video is a product of the time we're currently in. As for the quality of the song, could it have been better? Yes, of course, but as for me, I don't look to artists to give me their best material on their hits. I look to them to give me songs they feel have the best shot of becoming huge hits. Especially in the case of artists who release as much music as Drake. If you asked me to list you my top 20 best Drake songs, none of his biggest hits would make that list. It's not that hard a concept to grasp. This song taking off and becoming a huge hit is Drake's goal, as long as that is achieved, he's done all he set out to do. Here's an example. Right before the song dropped: As of right now: It went #1 on Apple Music US in 6 hours. That's the fastest any Drake song has ever done that. It'll probably have a decent debut on Spotify and radio will eat the song up. That's the whole point, lol. People using this song to determine that he's all of a sudden fallen off quality wise is hilarious because since December last year, he's dropped certain songs and several others have leaked and the reception all of those songs have gotten is that they're really good. I'm not putting that much thought into this song. I'm curious to see how big of a hit it can become, though.

Obligatory tweet about Bill Withers actually dying right at the start of the tracking week. RIP to Bill. “Lean On Me” has always been such a great song in my opinion. Such a talented artist.

He’s getting DRAGGED throughout Twitter because of this.
Many are calling him “desperate”.
Thoughts?

I can see Drakes new song debut high but I doubt it will have longevity.

Uzi took that chance and took an L because he failed to understand that dance challenges have to come naturally, otherwise they will come across as forced and will be rejected by the youth. This is Drake though, if he fails with this then it will show that absolutely no mainstream artist can start a dance challenge and succeed.

I thought we already learned with Yummy that hype alone will not carry a bad song

It reminds me of when DJ Khaled tried to desperately start that PATHETIC “Wild Thoughts Challenge” to get that song to number one, meanwhile Rihanna was literally chillin’ in Barbados that summer, not giving a single damn, preparing for Carnival. 💀😂💀😂💀

Let's be honest Drake is on a higher playing field than Justin Bieber right now people aren't tired of Drake if they were Life Is Good would've never hit the top 10 (since it's his impact.) and he would be flopping on all platforms right now with his new song.

Life Is Good might actually make it worse because there's a better song for people to compare the new one to.

God's Plan is probably one of his laziest songs and that song is now his biggest record. Worst case? This song debuts high and drops quickly. Best case? It debuts high and stays there (like most Drake lead singles tend to do). It's all still left to be seen but it's off to a great start in my opinion. All that's left now is to see how it does on Spotify and radio.

I hope Toosie Slide has a chart run just like Yummy, debuts high without going #1 and then plummets. That song is unbearable.
