I'm laughing at all of you in here expecting a song that's TikTok bait to be a masterpiece. This song was engineered to be a hit and it will do just that. That's all there is to it. He'll release a bunch of other singles before his album eventually comes out. Relax and enjoy it and if you can't do that, check out the other new songs/albums I posted about. Most of them are amazing. or will it? I feel like Drakes ability to make viral hits is based off him being natural, but this track is the first time Drake feels like he's trying too hard. Most of it I actually like, and it's definetly miles ahead of Yummy. The problem is the chorus. Personally, I don't mind it. But I totally see how it's giving people Yummy vibes. Yummys biggest problem was it's chorus. The chorus of Tootsie Slide reeks of begging for Tiktok virality in the most basic way possible. |

RE Aubrey Graham- I miss the days when a major act would take some time off, give fans a chance to miss them (even just a year of releasing no new music), so when new music was released, there was much anticipation, excitement, etc.
I have to give Robyn Fenty some credit in that respect- she took a break after having such a ubiquitous presence. Nowadays, though, for acts known for having a lot of collabos and featurings, you're still likely to hear from them at some point.

Hell must have frozen over because I appear to be in the minority and not hate Drake's song. He's done much, much worse, this is at least kinda catchy. If it has to become a big hit, so be it. You have to hand it to Drake, he knows how to play the game - he's had songs make it big cos of Tik Tok, now he's catering exclusively to that, and Tik Tok has only gotten bigger cos of Corona.
That being said, I will never for the life of me understand how people dance to this kinda music, instructions notwithstanding. It might be cos I'm Portuguese, so I'm used to dance music with latin influences - energetic, vibrant, larger than life, the kind where your feet can't keep still. How you make a dance song out of chill music? Who's gonna shake their jelly to "Tootsie Slide"?
