I'll pick the one that doesn't have ten million samples and writing credits on their albums. I take it you aren't a fan of Beyonce, Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Whitney Houston, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, Elton John, or Marvin Gaye then? Man, I hate it when artists use co-songwriters too!

lmao at all the hip-hop heads choosing Kanye. listen, i like him too, but Taylor is so far ahead of him as an artist it isn't even funny How shocking that people who listen to Pop music... prefer the pop artist? and how shocking that people who listen to hip hop music... prefer the hip hop artist? your argument for defending Taylor literally falls flat reading your opening sentence bruh, she literally quoted rainie verbatim and just swapped the terms. I don't know why anyone would treat this thread as anything less than the troll poll that it is. This is like pitting Carole King against Dr. Dre. Literally makes zero sense to try to compare two artists serving entirely different audiences and who have to take entirely different approaches to their music bc of the very different expectations those audiences have, and this wouldn't exist if not for Kanye and Taylor's personal drama. The real tea.

I prefer Taylor, but I would be lying if I said I disliked Kanye's music. I really like many of his songs.

This would be an easy choice if Kanye had stopped making music after 2010...

This thread ain't it. Music is objective which is obviously the reason all these posts exist. Both of these artists are super talented (& obviously successful). Kanye can't do certain things Taylor does. Taylor can't do certain things Kanye does.
Take the whole "you should be embarrassed if you voted for Taylor" attitude and go back to the chart discussion threads. Taste shaming is out of place in here.

^ You're 50% right there. I did notice the anti-Kanye statements you're talking about but in no way did anyone imply that you shouldn't vote for him or that he isn't a great artist. Just saying, you can support someone without belittling someone else.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy trumps anything Swift has done. Then he also has Late Registration, Yeezus, etc. It’s too bad Kanye fell off the way he did as a person, because his music is genius.
Having said that, Kanye fell off artistically in a way Taylor did not. Still, his highs are higher.

A main reason why Kanye has so many people credited on his songs is due to all the samples he uses, and are you calling out Kanye West for using samples in his music? Seriously?

Uh, it wasn’t meant to be a troll poll. They are both acclaimed artist with excellent artistry, and have excellent music respectively. I literally wasn’t even making this poll because they’ve had drama. This is the music website, and these are two great musicians and I’m asking who people think is better. I’m sorry that offends you??!

I have to go with Kanye, he had six great albums in a row. And MBDTF trumps anything Taylor has done (hell, Kanye has yet to come close to topping it). But talk about a downfall, everything post Yeezus has been garbage.
As for Taylor, I like the vast majority of her music. But she's never been a particularly dynamic artist IMO. She has her moments, but across an entire album? She's never pulled it off the way Kanye has.

Kanye
I like Taylor, 1989 is a great album and All Too Well is an all-time favorite song, but she’s never made an album on the level of The College Dropout, 808s and Heartbreaks, or MBDTF

Taylor's melodies are far better and I like her lyrics better too. Kanye has far better production though.

ok so one dropped some of the best albums of the century. the other is taylor swift. admittedly, i haven't listened to all the taylor swift albums yet, but based off the songs i've heard Then you (or anyone in a similar situation, including myself) probably can't really say who has the better album if you haven't actually listened to the albums. An artist's best songs aren't always picked as radio singles. (Said neutrally, not just because you picked Kanye.)

For instance, judging "Lover" off "ME!" and "You Need To Calm Down" gives such a poor impression of the actual great record it is. Even "Lover" the song doesn't compare to the heights of "Cornelia Street", "Afterglow", "Soon You'll Get Better", and "Death By A Thousand Cuts".

Depending on the day you probably just got lost in my notifications bc I don't keep track of individual threads most of the time. And reading what your response was, I don't really see what in it poses a question to be answered. I wasn't offended, I just really thought you were trolling. Still don't see the point in comparing them either. Taylor can't do what Kanye does and Kanye can't do what Taylor does.
