Mad'House was a short-lived French-Dutch group that formed in the Spring of 2002 based on a white label bootleg mashup made using Madonna's "Like A Prayer" and Black Legend's "You See The Trouble With Me". The latter began life as a bootleg too using a sample from Barry White's song of the same name and some other samples of DHS' rave classic "House Of God".The resulting re-recorded mashup went on to be a top 10 hit throughout most of Europe, peaking at #1 in Germany, Austria, and Ireland. This was given a U.S. release too. Based on the success of this, they covered Madonna's "Holiday" and "Into The Groove" which were less successful. They also released a full album of Madonna covers. They disbanded in the Fall of 2002.
I was never a fan of the vocals on this one as I am a massive fan of the original Madonna song, but I liked the idea of it since the Black Legend song's pitch was incorrect in the bootleg mashup (it needed to be pitched a little higher). It got a lot of play on Party 92.7 here. It has been said that the original bootleg is what led to Jonathan Peters doing his own mix that year with the additional Luz Divina vocals which became a classic at Sound Factory.
