As the tiki torch shots and years pass on by I still find it hard to believe that Luke Bryan has gone on to become of the biggest names in the genre. I have nothing to add or any good words to say about him, so pass. Seriously, what is someone like him going to have to offer to the genre ten years from now? Two Margaritas :kii:

This is #1 on iTunes all-genre after his performance on American Idol last night.

This is the most confused I've been recently about a song blowing up in a big way. Like, I get why it's doing well, but this well? But at any rate, "One Margarita" is shaping up to be his biggest single in at least 5-6 years. Based on the way its been selling and rocketing up the airplay charts, it'll probably hit the top 20 on the Hot 100, something he last did with "Play It Again" in 2014.

Yeah this song is freaking massive as this has gained over 2000 spins since the start of May on Mediabase, is at #3 all genre on iTunes. Just such a hit on all fronts. I will not be shocked if we have a repeat of 2014 on our hands with this being "Play It Again" part 2 and just rules the roost at the top for a good month, and if I were any of the songs around this single (the singles from Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, and maybe Miranda Lambert) I would not be 100% confident in getting the Billboard #1.

As for why this song is blowing up so much, simple we are heading into the summer months and this is a perfect summer song, the song is also has a very catchy hook in the "One Margarita, Two Margarita, Three Margarita shot".

This is probably the worst song Luke Bryan has ever recorded. Hate that it’s blown up but hope it crashes and burns as easily... and quickly. Sadly, with it being the summer months and country radio’s obsession with crappy songs like this, I feel like we are in for a long stretch of this slaying the charts... and literally slaying our ears.

I honestly would not be shocked if this hit #1 on Billboard after Carly/Lee this week with Carly/Lee falling and Luke Bryan out pacing Scotty McCreery and Kenny Chesney by a lot (in the past 4 days, Luke Bryan has gained 2.6 million in audience compared to Kenny Chesney's 1.5, and Scotty McCreery's 0.8 million).
This song is a monster right now on the chart as besides Carly/Lee who are maxing to #1 this week this has the highest bullet and it isn't even close for others. With the US pretty much right at the beginning of summer season this song has the potential to last a while on the chart, maybe not "Beautiful Crazy" levels of longevity but I can see it spending at least 2 weeks at the top if not more. Especially since this song hasn't even hit the callout scores yet.

The faster "One Margarita" hits #1, the better imo, because I want it to get its time at the top and then get out of the way as to not hinder "Bluebird" from a #1. First decent song yet this album cycle! This one is great lyrically, but I do feel like it could've been produced better. There's just something... lifeless and cold about the production job on it, and Luke's below-average vocal abilities are not enough to put all the emotion into the song that it needed. It's miles better than the singles he's put out thus far from the record so I'd be in favor of "Daddy" being his next one at radio.

"Build Me A Daddy" sounds phenomenal compared to "One Margarita," but overall I still find it to be musically and melodically underwhelming, too. Good lyrics and I'm not sure what could have been done musically to improve the song, but as it is, it just doesn't really hold my interest I guess.

Comparing to the other songs that he has released from this new album "Build me a Daddy" is my favorite.

So with just over a month until the album comes out(should have just kept the original date) this is looking like at least a 2-3 week run at the top. With any luck this will block Sam Hunt's trash song from reaching the top.
So Luke will be starting single #4 right around the time the album (finally) drops. I wonder how many singles will come from this album, he only had 4 from his last one. 6 from Kill the Lights. I'm going to make a prediction that a deluxe version of this album will come out sometime early next year to prolong the era.

No diss to either song because I legit love both, but it's hysterical to me that you call Sam's song trash like this song is some musical masterpiece. Again, no disrespect to either song, but I think in a lot of people's mind they're both the same kind of song lol.

Kinda wonder if “Build Me A Daddy” will be the 4th single if we get a 4th single.

That and Luke Bryan has had pretty long album eras lately (Crash My Party went 6 singles deep as did Kill The Lights, while his last album went 4 singles deep) Given the fact that there will be 4 singles by the time the album is released I imagine this will be a pretty long album era for Luke Bryan

We are 100% getting a 4th single, since this is arguably the biggest hit of his career and the album isn’t even out yet. There’s only 10 songs on the album though and we’ve already heard 5 of them, so I’d be curious if we get more than 5 singles with such a smaller track listing this go-around.

“Build Me A Daddy” is the best damn thing I’ve heard from Luke since “Roller Coaster”. This honestly sounds like a career hit and one that I’ve been longing to hear from him in forever.

I would also certainly hope that 'Build Me A Daddy' does get released as a single, since it would certainly join 'Most People Are Good' at the top of my list of the best singles of his career. Any idea why his CD hasn't been released yet?

Any idea why his CD hasn't been released yet? It comes out in a month, on August 7th. It was pushed back because of the COVID-19 pandemic as it has affected things like being able to get CDs pressed and shipped to stores, etc. I think he probably would've been fine releasing earlier and the impact on an artist like Luke Bryan would've likely been insignificant.

It took me awhile to get to it but "Build Me A Daddy"...WOW. Easily one of Luke's best singles and the best from the album thus far. It was a little lifeless in terms of production but other than that it's an A+ effort for me and I would love to see this one get radio treatment.

Does this get 2 or 3 weeks atop the charts on Billboard? Normally I’d say a song this massive would get 3, but Sam Hunt is peaking around the same time with another large hit song. I personally would like to see this one rule the roost for as long as possible, because this definitely seems to be the “song of the summer”.

If this was 10-15 years ago, I’d say Luke would ride this out for 4-5 weeks. But that’s now how the radio charts work nowadays (other than a couple hits from Combs) with the long chart climbs and pecking order that’s in place for songs in the top 5-10. Sam’s on the same label team, so for sure they’re going to push him next week. After that Sony Nashville is prepared to give Miranda a large push for #1 and then BBR the same for LoCash the following week. When I was a teenager I hated those 4-5-6 week #1 songs, since many of my favorites stalled in that 2-5 range, but looking back I miss those days because those singles largely deserved the stays they had at #1. Those days for the most part are over. Huge radio hits are now rewarded through recurrent airplay.

I used to get annoyed seeing some song was #1 again for like the 6th week, but now I would open up to that with open arms. Longer runs at #1 definitely made big hit songs feel even bigger. Now I never want to see Airplay charts become like Hot Country Songs chart where we have the same #1 for 30 weeks because it’s so heavily influenced by success at outside formats, but I feel 3-5 weeks is a good sweet spot for #1 hits. The rock formats have a pretty good balance in this particular area IMO.

Gosh it bugs me how participation trophy esque the top of the charts. I want the top of the chart to be competitive firestorm where a song does get fucked out of a #1, I remember hell 5 years ago when "Die A Happy Man" screwed over 4 songs out of a Billboard #1 in December and January of 2015-2016 and then the next week Luke Bryan "Home Alone Tonight" blocked Sam Hunt "Breakup In A Small Town". That is entertaining, exciting, for me to watch the top of the chart be a borderline battleground and for certain songs to miss the mark and for actual big hits to be rewarded, instead of the manipulated system the charts have become. Now the only excitement is if a song below the Top 20 fails or not because if you reach the Top 20 on the chart there is a good 80% chance you will do no worse than a Top 5 peak.
It is also complete bullcrap that the song by LoCash will spend as much time at #1 as singles by Sam Hunt and Miranda Lambert when the positions on the Hot 100 speak for which song is actually a hit and which one will be forgotten by this time next year. That just rubs me the wrong way, especially this year where country music has had it's biggest year in quite some time.
