I like Drake but he is OBVIOUSLY biting Carti’s sound and flow, it’s acceptable because Carti and Pi’erre are on the song and because it sounds good but this is their sound that they’ve already mastered.
Drake does this thing where he rides the wave of more popular sounds (dancehall, grime, chopped & screwed) to more clout and success. Sure, it works, and more often than not, it sounds good, but it’s a pretty lame ass thing to do when you look deeper into it, especially when he’s doing it to artists that are much less popular than him and he’s taking their sound and making it his own.
Edit: However, without Drake doing this, note that we most likely wouldn’t have Migos, XXXTentacion, D.R.A.M., The Weeknd, or Wizkid as the popular figures in music that they are, or, were in XXXTentacion’s case.

Since the coronavirus situation is (hopefully) only going to be as temporary as possible, I'm wondering why they needed to make these permanent layoffs/cutbacks, and why they didn't just put them on furlough or temporary leave? Like, when things pick up again and the live sector starts returning, aren't they gonna need a lot of these staff back anyway? Leads me to believe things were already going way downhill for the biz even before the virus, and it seems like this takeover by Valence wasn't a very positive thing.

I don't see how this is a cash in on the current lockdown situation worldwide. Wouldn't a song be a about like isolation, or loneliness or distance if it was really going to cashin on the sociopolitical climate, rather than a TikTok dance challenge that would've been forced even if we weren't on lockdown? The video shows Drake in a mask dancing quarantined in his mansion. Exactly. Let's put it this way, the song and the lyrics don't refer to the current sociopolitical situation, but the video, which is of course a large part of the song's image and release, absolutely does. And it's not even in an insightful, or critical way like This Is America, and the fact that the video imagery doesn't have anything to do with the lyrical content of the song makes it all the more crass and comodified. I don't have a very strong view on this and it doesn't bother me a whole lot, but I mean c'mon, it would be hard to disagree with me. |

I wouldn't say Whole Lotta Red is as anticipated as Eternal Atake or Astroworld were but it's not too far off, the only thing preventing it from a big debut would be coronavirus streaming slump, I'm expecting over 150k.

Pissy Pamper will probably never be officially released unless the sample from Mai Yamane's "Tasogare" was removed and that would ruin the song.

Capital Bra is a German rapper who arised during the streaming era, and he has gotten 20 #1 singles in Germany, the most for an artist ever surpassing Beatles.
