Maddie & Tae's latest album The Way It Feels is out now! The 15-track album contains the 10 tracks previously heard on the two 5-track EPs One Heart to Another and Everywhere I'm Goin' as well as 5 new tracks.
I haven't heard anything yet other than "Friends Don't" and "Die From A Broken Heart" but I'll be giving this one a spin over the weekend hopefully.

I'm definitely going to buy this one now on iTunes, to hold me over until I can go out and buy a physical copy when the world opens back up again Edit: Oop! iTunes just let me purchase the album for $1.09 because I had already purchased both EPs!!!!!! That's awesome!!!!

About the fourth time all the way through with this album. It's a shame that this album won't get the proper press run given the Coronavirus pandemic. Like Maddie mentioned in an interview for Apple Music with Kelleigh Bannen, the plus side of that is people are home and consuming a lot of music right now. I really want these girls to succeed and have a big break where they become the next a-list act. They are SO good together.
Here are my initial rankings:
1. "Die From a Broken Heart" - Longtime favorite even before it was the official second single. 2. "Water In His Wine Glass" 3. "Bathroom Floor" 4. "Everywhere I'm Goin'" 5. "One Heart To Another" 6. "Lay Here with Me" (feat. Dierks Bentley) 7. "Tourist in This Town" 8. "I Don't Need To Know" 9. "My Man" 10. "Trying On Rings" 11. "Write A Book" 12. "New Dog Old Tricks" 13. "Ain't There Yet" 14. "Friends Don't" - Not bad by any means, but I feel like the rest of the album is far better and they could've (and should've) went with DFABH or BF first. 15. "Drunk Or Lonely"

I remembered the album was supposed to have a story arc as they called this a concept album prior to the release. I just cannot find the arc after listening to the album. Did they ditch it?
Edit: Die From A Broken Heart is moved up to be 10th track of the album instead of 13th track from earlier PR piece.

I wonder if where you live is a factor on when you might receive items like cds from amazon considering whats going on with covid currently. Just trying to think of a reason why some of us are getting ours fairly quick and some aren't? Or some even getting cancelled or seriously delayed. Otherwise i would think anyone who preordered would get theirs this week, esp if you have a prime membership? Unless of course you live overseas or something.

what a fantastic album!!!! even with 15 tracks, i wasn't bored by anything. this is a step up imo from the debut and even that album was great. i have lots of favorites and i'm definitely gonna be revisiting this one in the future!

I don't think this album is bad, but I do think it is a huge stepdown from their debut album, mainly because this album feels a bit bloated at 15 tracks and their are some outright duds for me in "Friends Don't", "New Dogs Old Tricks", "Write A Book", "Everywhere I'm Goin", and "My Man".
For me my main problem is the production which for me when listening to this album feels very bland and faceless as it sounds very standard pop country. Reminds me of the production on Carrie Underwood's last album where it sounded like it was really going for production that was very vanilla overall to appease radio. Their debit album was much more in the traditional lane of country music and it stood out in mainstream country with how much fiddle, madolin, it used and stood out. Where as now those feel more token or almost non prescence. I get that country and especially women in country are taking from the Maren Morris Girl sound, but that sound does not work with Maddie & Tae's vocals.
I will say for as critical as I have been about the album, I did like songs like "Die From A Broken Heart", "One Heart To Another", "Lay Here With Me", and "Bathroom Floor" is a guilty pleasure, so this is not a bad album but among all the women that have recently released albums the last couple of months (Carly Pearce, Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBryde, Ingrid Andress) I would probably put this near the bottom of my list and this is an album that does not have much replay value.

I’ve been listening to this album quite a bit these last few days and overall I think it’s great. There’s a handful of songs that I keep revisiting so far and those are “Everywhere I’m Goin’” (love the I’m fallin’ like a Denver snowfall line), “Tourist In This Town”, “Drunk or Lonely”, “One Heart To Another”, and “Water In His Wine Glass” which is by far one of my favorite tracks from any album this year. The songs do tend to blend in a bit too much, though, which is why I’m not a fan of the recent trend of having so many songs on one album.
I’m just glad that they are having such a great run with “Die From a Broken Heart” and I hope the rest of the era is as much of a success as that song has been for them.

Forgot to pop in here and give commentary, but I cannot get enough of this record! I'm really glad that all 10 songs from the EPs got put on here because I loved almost all of those and would've been bummed if they hadn't made the record, but I'm also super happy they gave us an additional 5 new tracks on top of that. Having this much music from them is just great in a time when a lot of artists are barely giving us the 'minimum' of 10 tracks in total.
My standout favorite from the new material is 100% "I Don't Need to Know" which would have my vote for next single. I can't even relate to that song because my dating life has been totally nonexistent, and yet that song somehow feels so real even to me. The line The only thing worse than my imagination is all of these third party observations is hands down the single best lyric on the entire record. What a gut punch. That whole song is just melodic heaven too. "Die from a Broken Heart" remains one of the best things I've heard all year and I'm SO stoked that it's finally blossoming into a true hit single with it basically guaranteed to *at least* peak in the teens at country radio. "Everywhere I'm Goin'" is my other favorite uptempo on the record and I think it would also make a great single. "Bathroom Floor" would work too. "One Heart to Another" is just GORGEOUS and the hook is killer and so creative. "Water in His Wine Glass" is just stone cold classic country head-to-toe and they wring an incredible amount of emotion out of it. "Drunk or Lonely" is another one with a hook that is just spot on and it's another winning melody. The weakest song on the album for me is still "Old Dog New Tricks", but it's still like a B- song at worst... it just happens to be on an album with like 10 A+ songs around it.
Full of great harmonies, hooks, and melodies, the album is just fantastic and was totally worth the long wait to get here. I'm glad these girls are "back" at last! I hope that their comeback momentum continues because they deserve to be format mainstays.

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere or not, but for a still-up-and-coming act (yes I know that’s debatable in some aspects), they’re pulling quite strong streaming numbers. Good on them! Much deserved.

Much deserved. I've noticed this, and they don't seem to be on any big playlists ("Die From A Broken Heart" might be the only top 20 song not on a major Spotify playlist). This means people are going out of their way to stream their music, which is a great sign.

Yeah their streaming numbers are really good, it's telling that a song like "Friends Don't" that the music video has 18 million views on YouTube despite not doing much at radio (peaked outside the Top 30 on both charts) has the same amount or more than past Top 5 singles in that year ("Comin Home" by Keith Urban, "For The First Time" Darius Rucker", Luke Bryan "Light It Up"), not to mention "Die From A Broken Heart" also doing very well on YouTube as well (over 19 million views in about 9 months). The consumer and streaming interest is clearly there with this duo

Anyone have any predictions on what they’ll pick next??? I know their going uptempo, but I which it was ‘Lay Here With Me’. I feel like it’s gonna be ‘Bathroom Floor’ though.

They basically all but confirmed "Bathroom Floor" on Bobby Bones the other day, so that's my bet. Probably after the new year.
