Top 5 Always Be My Baby Another Brick In The Wall, Pt. 2 Hey Jude Raspberry Beret Say It Right So their songwriters will be advancing to the next round. With Always Be My Baby, since Mariah Carey and Jermaine Dupri's discography apart from each other has been significantly larger than the songs they wrote together, I've decided to have one song from each. For Mariah, I chose "Emotions", the most popular song from her first couple albums. Jermaine Dupri worked extensively with several other artists, including Lil Bow Wow, Jagged Edge, Kris Kross and Usher, so I chose Usher's "You Make Me Wanna...". With Say It Right, Timbaland and Nelly Furtado also had hits apart from each other, but he still contributed to all the hits from her most popular album, as well as many of the album tracks, and they also had a couple other hits together (Give It To Me and Morning After Dark). But they still had enough strong songs apart from each other, with Nelly Furtado's first couple albums, and Timbaland's work with Missy Elliott, Justin Timberlake, Aaliyah and more that if "Maneater" does well enough to secure them entries in future rounds, they'll get two songs they wrote without each other. Round 5 is now open.

The top 5 will be revealed tomorrow afternoon/evening. #5 only had a 1 point lead over Uptight and has two #1 ranks.

9. Take Me To The River
Songwriters: Al Green, Mabon Hodges
Performer: Al Green Points: 185 Average: 10.12 Standard Deviation: 4.62 Released: 1974
Oddly for someone of my generation, I was for years familiar only with the Talking Heads cover of this song, not the Al Green original. When I heard his version, it was like a color blind guy getting those glasses that show you the full rainbow.

The next reveal is the only song in the top 8 without any #1 ranks.

Nice! Not sure which of these would have no #1s, but I’m guessing it’s not Hey Jude

Hey Jude vs Raspberry Beret. Same amount of #1 ranks but one of them had fewer low ranks.

Raspberry Berets not one of my favorites from Prince. Still a nice song but he has better. Glad that it won over Hey Jude though.

“Hey Jude” is one of my top two all-time favourite Beatles songs (alongside “Yesterday”) and “Rasperry Beret” is one of my favourite overall Prince songs post-Purple Rain.
I adore Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” also.
Great top three. 🙌🏿

For once I'd like to not have a much weaker rank in the top 2, but my #1 did win, so
