"New music reflecting recent pain in her life" - :( - I wonder if she's writing this time around. She's such a strong writer and she has said in the past that she finds it therapeutic. Maybe that could be an outlet for her.

Can I Have A Kiss sounds so fresh. Maybe I’m old. Facts. I've been obsessed with "Can I Have A Kiss" and "Don't Waste Your Time" lately in a way I wasn't back in 2007.

I've been revisiting past albums too - MOL really holds up, specifically WYCTL. Feels like such a smash.

Oh, maybe we can get a follow up to “Maybe”... “Maybe Not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”
...she's said Maybe was about Brandon

She's told several people that over the years, I remember this because it shocked me. They met in May of 2006 and she started tour over a month later when she started singing it. I actually think there are several songs on that album that she used him as a muse for. eta: you made me go look for the first reference to it that I remembered, she's said it since then too. Nugget from my meet 'n' greet experience. I told her that my favorite song is 'Maybe,' and she told me that she actually wrote that about Brandon back in the day. It makes sense, since the lyrics are all about looking forward to a time when you might get to really know someone that you've just met but that you can't really get too close to now. I thought that was a pretty neat detail. It also supports the notion that she crushed on him as soon as they met. So adorbz.

Yeah, she's revealed over the years that much of My December is about him. He was married when they met, which works contextually for songs like "Maybe," "How I Feel," "Can I Have a Kiss" and "Dirty Little Secret." In fact, I remember her clearly saying that CIHAK was about two guys, with the verses being about one guy and the chorus being about another one. I think at the time most of assumed this meant the song was about both David Hodges and Graham Colton, but I think the chorus is about the latter and the verses are about Brandon.

Omg not Kelly giving me a mature, embellished version of my favorite album I've been revisiting past albums too - MOL really holds up, specifically WYCTL. Feels like such a smash. Hey there, the Meaning of Life rankdown is open! I'll be happy to get a list from you

Honestly (no pun intended), I'd much prefer a Stronger 2.0 over MD. Or at least one single on the level of Behind These Hazel Eyes (AKA her best song) where it's perfectly dark, poppy and and catchy.

I'm pretty sure it's just for season 2, but I won't lie that I haven't thought about the possibility of an album following this soonish. The mention of music in the Sunday Today teaser definitely put my ears up. I should probably wait to say this until that interview on Sunday airs to see what's said in it, but I also wonder if the timeline for a new album would realistically be the early part of next year? The divorce won't be finalized until December at the earliest and I'm guessing that she's been advised to not really say much publicly about it. If she's addressing the situation as a whole on the album, which I'm assuming is going to happen, it'll be hard to avoid talking about it or having the press run with things as they do.

Double post, I'm sorry.
They posted a teaser for the Sunday interview. Says the album is all the emotions from the beginning of a relationship to "the end of what it is now" and says she's listening to the mixes now. Which is leading to some weird moments for her with the kids because they're singing along not really knowing what they're singing along with.
People that were in The Voice audience this week said that they were told Kelly was finishing up her new music now. They didn't give a date like though like they did with Gwen (early next year).

"The whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now, and it's been very therapeutic for me."
The fact that she can talk confidently about what "the whole record" will be, coupled with the fact that she's already listening to mixes, makes it sound like she's further along in the process than I expected her to be. We now also have confirmation that she's putting pen to paper for this record, and I'm a big fan of that.

Excited as well - hoping for some personal writes/co-writes as well. BTW- she looks different but amazing in that interview. Is it her eyebrows or have we just not seen her much in make-up as of late ?

I'm surprised she's so far along with the album. I figured she's been casually recording here and there for the past 3 years and hasn't taken it too seriously given how incredibly busy she's been. I was hoping she scrapped a lot what she had and given this more "inspirational" period in her life, decided to change gears a bit.
With that being said...she said exactly what I needed to hear. Here's hoping there's nothing like I Dare You and it's actually as personal as she says it is. That's usually not one of her descriptors for her albums or songs so while I'm not getting my hopes up yet, it's definitely promising. Can it get more personal than My December??

I didn't know she was recording an album to begin with. I thought she said there were no current plans for one earlier this year unless I'm remembering incorrectly.

She certainly looks like she's about to drop an album--looks incredible in that interview clip.
Perched beyond measure. In my fantasy she just cranked out about 10 songs in the last few months since she had the time and, uh, inspiration and that's what we're getting, and that "I Dare You" and anything in that vein is nowhere to be found.

Is it her eyebrows or have we just not seen her much in make-up as of late ? i noticed the same the darker lip gloss could also be it, the way its applied kinda makes it look she has fuller lips? if that makes any sense lol EXCITED for the new album... as someone else said, hope she scrapped all those uninspired generic "anthems" like I Dare You and wrote most of it i wouldnt be opposed to her revisiting some old unreleased tracks (as she said she had talked with Aben about that) that could mirror her recent feelings

^I was just thinking about how fucking perfect "Racehorse" and "Don't Ever Give Up On Me" would be for a 2020 Kelly Clarkson album.

I am beyond excited! Can't remember her using the word 'personal' since My December. As MOL didn't perform all too well (for her standards) and everything afterwards didn't smash either I assume that any genre is possible. Hoping for some guitars to have their comeback.
Also hoping that everything before her tragic situation got scrapped although I would've liked to hear that Ben Platt duet.

sadly she could have release I Dare You standalone Vinyl and CD just done with it, simply it wont fit in the description of the new album, which obviously is all about Brandon. maybe she should do it along with the release of the new album, just to take our money, i am fine with it.

Nah, that would be assuming that there was nothing going on before the end of May. She's got a story to tell that began before then. I didn't know she was recording an album to begin with. I thought she said there were no current plans for one earlier this year unless I'm remembering incorrectly. She started talking about starting to work on an album back in November or December last year and then a lot more seriously in April this year.

I am ready for Kelly to fully embrace different genres and not worry about radio success since radio often pays her dust. I sometimes think that chasing radio hits has hindered her ability to really show people what she can do with her voice. Thankfully, with Kellyoke, she has the ability to garner more attention for her amazing vocal abilities to a wider audience who may not have been familiar with her voice.
