Claims her album GIRL FROM RIO will only be sung in English and Spanish, no Portuguese. But the production will be Brazilian....
Wow...how can you have a Brazilian production and NOT have some Portuguese songs on it? lol
I am frustrated at the message it sends. In order to "crossover" or gain mainstream success, you have to completely change who you are and/or assimilate into what's popular.
Brazil is the biggest country in Latin America. There's so much talent, past and present. Many worldwide artists are coming to Brazil or collaborating with the artists because the music from there is hypnotic. Why can't Portuguese language songs and musicians (from Brazil and all over the Lusophone world) also be at the table? Why should a Brazilian have to sing in English and Spanish just to get attention?
Though I'm not surprised. Her last album only had 2 songs in Portuguese (with one that had a rap in English). She can keep it.
