Given the results so far, I definitely would not have endeared myself to most of the participants, had I worked on this and submitted. To clarify, three of the songs still in are songs that I ranked lower than "Angel" in the '88 Hot 100 RD. They were also pretty decently lower. There goes two of them. "The Flame" remains.

Some comments on 70-41: 70. Black and Blue (around #30): nice discovery; sounded more like classic VH; I had it 69. Don't Know What You Got (around #20): this is a classic! the vocals took me a bit to get into it back in 88, but once i got them, I became a fan. I could’ve helped it get a better rank 67. Just Like Paradise (30s): this was a surprisingly good tune that I liked quite a bit back then. It had the type of synth pop appeal ala All I Need is a Miracle that I liked. This album had pretty good material for David. I had Stand Up and Damn good around my 70s. 66. Sweet Fire of Love (40s): like U2’s sound mixed with blues rock; like it a bit better than Showdown... (in my 50s) 64. Walk on Water (9): One of my favorite pop rock songs of the late 80s. A personal chart topper even though it was only a minor hit in a tier 2 pop station. It became quite popular in parties and dance clubs at the end of the decade. 63. Lost in You (~30): strong vocals and instrumental (drums, guitars, pipes!); he can really rock when he wants to, and I think he deserves much more appreciation in Pulse; this was a personal top 5 back in 88. 62. Rhythm of Love (20s): this wasn’t as big a hit as Love will find a way, but the intro was used in a few tv spots back home, so it became just as popular in the end. Nice melodic intro, strong instrumental and vocals and strong beat, much better than the more boring Shoot (in my 80s) 60. I Wish I Had a Girl (20s): a minor hit in our #1 pop station and a personal top 15. Still like its more classic rock sound. 51. Don't Be Cruel (50s): A hit back home following the success of Ghost Town. It was a personal top 5, and I kept it in a good mixtape. Pretty good cover IMO. 50. Perfect World (50s): their last good hit, which made their last stop in my personal top 5. Still sounds good, with a nice genuine throwback style. 47. After Midnight (92): that would’ve been my remaining bottom 10/20; not a fan of the original, let alone this remake 45. Say You Will (20s): a personal top 5, which I liked much more than Heart (70s); nice music, vocals and power 44. Get It On (30s): one of my favorite discoveries in this RD, with pretty good instrumentation and classic musicality 43. Forever Young (teens): I also like this other side of Rod...the video sold it for me, as it connects the emotional lyrics about fatherhood. 42. Simply Irresistible (10): this still sounds like a good rocker! Strong, catchy, well sung; why so low?

30. I Don't Wanna Go on with You Like That - Elton John This is a great song. Infact one of my favorites from John. There was only so much I could do with it on this RD and I still Prefer the Hi- NRG extended remix as well. which I wouldn't have been able to rank high on this Rock RD at all.
29. Heaven Knows - Robert Plant Another big Arena rock sounding single. Like a louder version of Elton John's song except it has Robert Plant vocals.
28. Roll with It - Steve Winwood Another hit for Steve. The brass gives it a really bluesy Rock vibe too. It almost sounds like a beer Commercial. My favorite will always be "Higher Love".
27. I Know You're Out There Somewhere - The Moody Blues I enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I would. very cool 80's pop vibe. Didn't this get an Italo Disco remix. Kinda sounds like Modern Talking.
26. Bring Me Some Water - Melissa Etheridge A better Rock vibe for this chick, but I still can't do much with her vocals.
25. Be Still My Beating Heart - Sting Didn't care too much for this Sting era and this song in particular was one of the worst. I ranked this at #80 on Alt, so it was only gonna fall further down this time. One song left in my bottom 10 and its that song I wasn't supposed to tank.
24. When We Was Fab - George Harrison This was pretty decent. I really enjoyed the song's melody.
23. When It's Love - Van Halen This was pretty damn awesome for a Van Hagar ballad. Van Halen wasn't known for ballads when DLR was on lead, but this hit all the Powerballads buttons. I put two VH songs in my top 20 . Can you imagine how many I will put here once 1984 rolls around?
22. Ship of Fools - Robert Plant The softest one the highest. It's still a great song, but I put enough Robert Plant songs in my top 40.
21. Love Bites - Def Leppard Why is Covid -19 taking this long to F U C K off, Why are strip joints on lockdown, and WTF is this Def Leppard masterpiec doing out before the top 10. These are questions I need answered? 8D I mean this goes harder than "Hysteria" so WTF? Anyway, I believe there are still a couple years left in Rock RD's where Def Leppard will be submit my crown song.

EXTRAS:House We Used to Live In - The SmithereensA bit more uptempo than their other bigger hits. I like that. High 60's on my RD would sound about right. I'm Still Searching - Glass TigerI forgot how good this one sounded. Been years since I spun this one. This songs flows reallllly nicely. Funny how back then a song that reached #12 was considered a flop. while nowadays songs that touch the top 25 make the YD top 100. Don't Go - Hothouse FlowersI might have ranked this a bit high in Modern Rock RD? Sounds great for that format. Here. Not so much. I Think She Likes Me - Treat Her RightNever heard this. A little too downtempo for me. The vocals are not too great, but give this to Jim Morrison and it rises to a whole other level. Big League - Tom Cochrane & Red RiderI don't recall this Red Ryder song. Kinda sounds like a b-side U2 song. Can't Wait - ForeignerAnother Foreigner song I wasn't too keen on. Kinda a dozer if you ask me. Cloud 9 - George HarrisonThis was pretty boring. even for George Harrison. What no more Glam Metal classics to close out the night's extras? That's disappointing.

Three songs in my bottom half remaining.
Here's a clue: all three artists have a better song in this rankdown.

We begin this last set of extras with the debut single for the Traveling Wilburys. This song was the most successful single for the supergroup both in the U.S. and abroad. It was originally intended to just be a bonus track for George Harrison but ultimately led to the formation of the the Traveling Wilburys. EXTRA
