This song look poised to make the top 40 but ultimately wasn't able to hold on. Also, it finished 14 spots lower than it did in Lost Hits of the Late 80s, huh? 56

So who just misses out on the top half...and what do the Moody Blues have on some of you?:
60. I Wish I Had a Girl---Aw, I thought this was a nicely done blues rock song.
59. Don't be Afraid of the Dark---If the band kept up with Cray, who knows how high I would have had this?
58. Feels So Good---As a rule, if Eddie feels like he needs to take a break for a song, the song itself is no good. This doesn't feel like Van Halen at all. Sorry, Doc.
57. Heart Turns to Stone---The instruments won me over in this battle of the foreigner tunes.
56. Holding On---Couldn't wait one more spot, lol? This is a fine spot for an decent tune.
55. Dance on My Own---You're going the right direction on the Plant tunes, keep it up!
54. Damn Good---If David did more of this and less of the lounge singer stuff, I'd have more respect for his solo output.
53. Let it Roll---If the vocals had picked up, I'd be fine for letting it roll. Instead I had to slow its roll.
52. Rev It Up---Finally! Those instruments really annoyed me and on a list this packed, it's enough to end up in my bottom 5.
51. Don't Be Cruel---Unlike the whiny Bolton cover of Redding, this was a playfully assured take on the Elvis classic. Some of you were cruel, indeed.
Extras:
Does I Hate Myself for Loving You sound familiar? NBC uses it as its Sunday Night Football theme (with new lyrics weekly).
Need You Tonight might have joined the INXs scrum on the higher reaches of my list. Key word being might.

60. I Wish I Had a Girl - Henry Lee SummerI wanted to like this one more. I really did. Had all the fun rock ingredients I crave. The big rock 80's sound, Little John Cougar Mellencamp vibe. It just fell a little short of one missing ingredients that I still can't figure out what it was? Love the music video too. He was trying for all the wrong type of girls when all along his perfect type was the one that wanted him. 59. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark - The Robert Cray BandThis song did less than 0 for me. 58. Feels So Good - Van HalenThis was my favorite of this year's Van Halen songs. Love the synths in this one, the shout outs ,and the one with the best bass Line too. This is Sammy trying his best David Lee Roth look. LOL! Epic Fail. No one does it like Dave 57. Heart Turns to Stone - ForeignerAfter all the s**t I gave Foreigner this was actually one song that took me back to classic 80's Foreigner. Gramm sounds , and Rick is killing it on the bass. 56. Holding On - Steve WinwoodThis one brought back that "Roll With It" style. great song. 55. Dance on My Own - Robert PlantThis is the most Alternative Rock Robert Plants has sounded, but I loved this sound for him. This could have been The Fixx feat a Robert Plant Cameo. It's all in the way the bass and guitars are played. 54. Damn Good - David Lee RothI don't know what to say? You guys tried but at the same time manged to gain keep David Lee Roth out of the top 50 again. This doesn't give me high hops for "Yankee Rose" or "A Little Ain't Enough". Well see? This one is really good. The guitars have a slight "Stairway To Heaven" thing going on, but you still have stellar Dave Lee Roth vocals goodies. 53. Let It Roll - Little Feat Seriously this band for me? Nothing, zilch ,nada. 52. Rev It Up - Jerry Harrison & the Casual Gods I actually gave this a higher rank here than on Alternative. I don't usually do that. 51. Don't Be Cruel - Cheap TrickDamn I was hoping for more love since this was a huge Top 10 poptart hit too. Best Elvis cover ever, and yes that means I put both Cheap Trick songs in my top 10, so those who hate pop crossovers are gonna have to wait, because back then Poptart was awesome too. well we are in the top 50 and I'm not surprised I still have travesties from my bottom 10 floating around the tank. I just hope singingrulebritannia "3 terrible pop crossovers" are the same " 3 terrible pop crossovers" I have in my bottom 10....but I doubt it

i didn't really care for last night's extras, but these sound better. maybe I'll go back to the other ones tomorrow? Fight (No Matter How Long) - The BunburysAnybody know why the band name The Bunburys? The song is alright. The Bee Gees trio vocals were wasted here. I Hate Myself for Loving You - Joan Jett & the BlackheartsOnce again mainstream Rock Chart showing how lame ,and deaf they could be. This was a banger and Joan was a knockout back then. Her sound fit perfect in the Glam Metal mode back then. Rock Bottom - The Dickey Betts BandKinda crazy how I just previewed an awesome song from MisterWives with the same title., yet this leaves me totally unsatisfied. Like a louder Little Feat that I didn't order. Tomorrow People - Ziggy Marley & the Melody MakersThis song has nothing to do on this Mainstream Chart. 'nuff said. Heaven Tonight - Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising ForceLove Swedish Rock/Metal. If it's Swedish and it rocks I'm there. Easy top 20 song for my list. BTW if you think the vocals sound stellar that's because that Joe Lynn Turner from Rainbow. He sang "Stone Cold" and "Street Of Dreams". Joe is also now on Frontiers Records with the band Sunstorm. I Don't Mind at All - Bourgeois TaggI tend to like these lesser known Modern Rock bands a lot more than the big hit machines. This song is quite nice, and would have given it a higher rank than most Alt crossovers. Still Nothing tops "Mutual Surrender (What a Wonderful World)" for me. Need You Tonight - INXSNow maybe some of you can share my sentiments when I say Mainstream was rather lame and deaf when it came to these big hits. Anyway, I like this song. One of INXS best songs so long as they omit that stupid Mediate part. The song had power as it was. That part just brought it to boring for me. I'm glad you chose the correct version to post.

A nice little tune, it shouldn't be too surprising though that this is the first Springsteen song to exit 48
