It's hard to compete with the original but I enjoyed the 1988 mix for this song quite a bit 47

This was fine but I kinda wish their other song had been the one that made the top half. This song improved on its Billboard 1988 performance by 15 spots. 45

Let's see what kind of madness hit the top half, shall we? Oh and why is my #93 still in this?:
50. Perfect World---Hardly the perfect Huey Lewis song, but still it was good in a workmanlike way.
49. Rhythm of Love---Maybe if John Scorpion had contributed better vocals, I might have been more into its rhythm.
48. All That Heaven Will Allow---And now it's time for something different. The Boss's vocals were fine here, but the instrumentation left something to be desired here.
47. After Midnight---It still suffers from the Eric Clapton is older and thus slower stage, but some nice vocals and guitar work make it one of his better efforts in the latter part of his career.
46. Time Runs Wild---This was one of my top discoveries this round. Glad to see some support for it and that it DID make the top half. Just barely, but good enough.
45. Say You Will---But what if I don't? Song was OK, but I liked their other one better.
44. Get It On---Another nice discovery. This one was pretty fierce.
43. Forever Young---More like Forever VH-1. Nothing particularly young about Stewart or this song which moves through the motions slowly. I promise to be nicer to the Legal Eagles theme song.
42. Simply Irresistible (to everyone but Disassociative)---I guess I should have guessed you hated this one. As for the others, just roll with it because I don't wanna go on with you like that. Odds are you probably don't like this homage either:
41. Showdown at Big Sky---The opposite problem happened from his other song Sweet Fire of Love. The vocals were stronger than the band. Maybe if he had mixed them, he could have had one great song and one decent one.
Now to take my spot in the bottom 3 on rankdown closeness. Not surprised to see Doc here, but I'm surprised to see Daryl.

how far can the little song that could (Common Ground) keep going? will INXS &/or Robert Plant get 3 songs into the Top 30? will Australia claim all 10 of the Top 10?
for the answer to all of these questions & more, tune in tomorrow (& the rest of the week)

50. Perfect World - Huey Lewis & the NewsI love seeing Huey Lewis make the top half. You guys took a dump on "Couple Of Days" which I thought rocked, but at least this makes up for that. No one on the biz sounds like Huey Lewis and The News. 49. Rhythm of Love - ScorpionsOnce you get stung by the Scorpions you revel in that venom. great looking MV too. Reminds me of those Snake women in From Dusk Til Dawn. Hot but deadly. This is classic European Heavy Metal. 48. All That Heaven Will Allow - Bruce SpringsteenFirst time listen didn't do half as much for me as "Tunnel Of Love" did. it was sorta passable but very unmemorable. 47. After Midnight - Eric ClaptonHere is a mix of a classic rock song that I didn't ask for. It was fine the way it was before. All tis one does is slow it down, and you know you will not win any points with me for slowing down a song that was already fast to begin with. 46. Time Runs Wild - Danny WildeThe lesser known brother of Kim Wilde...who actually wrote most of her music. LOL! This song was nice and rocked and all that but none to memorable. The one time I charted Danny on his own was "Body To Body" Now that's a song. 45. Say You Will - ForeignerGreat song by Foreigner, and the correct one to cross over to Poptart too. 44. Get It On - Kingdom ComeThis is definitely one of their best Led Zeppelin rip offs ever, but damn fierce too. It also has a lot of Whitesnake. My type of rock vibe. My type of rock jam. 43. Forever Young - Rod Stewart This is a great song. Great for pop charts. Rod has his style of fitting comfortable in the Rock radio format without getting too rowdy. 42. Simply Irresistible - Robert Palmer This song is massive, but what really blows it out of the water are the lyrics. Love those lyrics where the guys are victims to woman's beauty. "She's so So fine there's no telling where the money went" So true what he says. There are babes that are so fine us guys will (fill in blank). When we fall we fall. 41. Showdown at Big Sky - R obbie Robertson I doubt I'll find any use for this on Alt either. It's not an ugly song. That's why its clear of my bottom 20, but it's still poor man's Eric Clapton that I didn't order.

Extras:Sound Alarm - Michael AndersonFor a second I thought I read Michael Madsen?. probaly would have been more interesting with his vocals. Anyway this kind of rock style unless it's from a vocalist I already know, and love can diminish into nothingness between my ears. "this is so generic there's no telling where the music went" Jump Start - Jethro TullThis would have been a better song for us to rank. Something about it works, and I'm guessing its the music video with Jethro on the flute. It almost feels like he is summoning a dragon. idk? I always get this crazy visions when I really dig a song. Confidence Man - The Jeff Healey BandAnother one of those "lets' jump on the Eric Clapton train" acts. Throwing Stones (Ashes Ashes) - Grateful DeadAnd some more "Grandpa" rock that sounded too old for me than and still does now. Century's End - Donald FagenEasy Listening lite rock. Someone get Chuck Mangione on the line. Defenders of the Flag - Bruce Hornsby & the RangeSpeaking of this band? Why are this band's songs still on this RD? Was thee payola involved? With that out of the way I guess I wouldn't have tanked this one that bad, but I still don't like the percussion at all. It's mixed in too lite or low or something. Doesn't that drummer know any combinations. That snare sounds like he is wacking tree bark. Nothin' But a Good Time - Poison...and again mainstream keeping down the strong Glam Metal competition for the forefathers of rock to prevail. This is one of their best. You couldn't ride the bus without someone blasting this one on the airwaves. The lyrics are "party Rock to the max". Just waiting for the weekend to party. It's a poptart theme song in a lot of ways, but so what it was NRGetic, fun ,and wild. You just can't sit still and listen to this one. Glam MEtal with a bit of Cheap Trick Powerpop made for this song's style. You obviously had the same choreography used in Warrant's videos. Even Brett was looking a bit like Jani. Even Kiss borrowed a little off the song's riff for "Never Enough". "Nothin' But A Good Time" Such a stellar entry into the Hair Metal treasures of rock. You Hair haters would have to tank this one hard , because it would have been top 5 for me. Here is Kiss 15 years later with "Never Enough". Love this one too!
