Maybe I should consider signing up for Season 3 based on the responses here?

I put this on the OP but since most of y'all are TL:DR so
"2. Each contestants will have to send a maximum of two choices of songs that fit said category through PM to me. If you send two songs, I'll pick the one I will personally rate higher. If you only send one song, that's fine too."
Also if you want to be tagged please like this post or post in the thread.

I'm disappointed that one of you chose to send in the worst single from this artist
And I have chosen to wreak havoc on your terrible decision by resting it a 4 mostly on the merit that it's the worst song to rep that artist with.

Are you referring to A Moment Like This because that's a choice lol. I still like the song and have nostalgic feels for it, but it's easily one of Kelly's weakest songs.

Mostly good choices, kinda disappointed "A Moment Like This" is the only song picked for Kelly. Also is Billie a diva? I wouldn't count her and that would lose points imo

ROUND ONE - RESULTS
You all have finished the first round of the season. The judges have voted and the results are in. Only 16 of you will advance to the next stage while 2 of you are going home. Most of you did a good job, but one person stand out more than everyone else, and that person is...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} ZACH!Lauryn Hill - "Ex-Factor"Sambalada: "Damn. Add me to the list of people who did NOT expect someone to send Ms. Lauryn Hill for this theme. I love the boldness of this submission and it doesn't hurt that the song is great. Lauryn's delivery in the verses is immaculate. She really showed off that she can play around with a song melody and create a gorgeous r&b song." (9.4)Walt: "A ‘90’s R&B classic. Lauryn pours emotion into her voice, it’s just a beautiful song that sends chills down my spine every time." (9.2)Gates: "Love it, a very fresh, free-spirited and soulful song with Hill hitting all the right emotional beats. It's a very cohesive vibe while never settling within one place for too long, and the beat is wonderfully layered and has the perfect balance of modern and classic textures. The funny thing is, I think the part Drake and Cardi interpolated is one of the lesser aspects of the song, lol." (8.5)Mayman: "This is an amazing song. The different books, different melodies, different instruments all make it work so well. I discovered this after the 2 big sample usage in 2018 and I love it." (9.5)Hamed: "Surprised to see Lauryn Hill on this, this is a total classic. I love the songwriting on this, the vocals she delivers, and the production on this one. Literally a R&B classic." (10)TOTAL: 46.6 | AVERAGE: 9.32The second best is...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} DISTRICT!Rihanna - Kiss It Better"Sambalada: "Rihanna's best track period! I was so angry that this flopped on Pop radio. After the semi-novelty monster hit, "Work", this was her chance to show her growth as a musician with this song but the radio paid it dust. No other song of hers even came close, it's ridiculous. Her best written song. Her best vocal performance. Best production on a Rihanna song ever. And that's on period." (9.6)Walt: "Nice to see some of Rihanna’s best songs in this round. The guitar riff on this is great and the song is just a sexy jam with Rihanna’s confident yet sultry vocals. It’s a great slice of Prince-inspired R&B that I wish had done better on the charts." (9.3)Gates: "This Rihanna song's big strength is the production (but she also sings it pretty well too). The guitars, synths, and beat feel huge, it's like it was built to be the highlight of a concert." (8.1)Mayman: "This is a CLASSIC. What an amazing song. I love the lyrics and the instrumental, but that bridge - GORGEOUS. This deserved so much better." (10)Hamed: "Yesss I'm happy this got sent, best song off Anti and Riri's best song in recent years. I love the R&B energy on this and I love her attitude on this one. It's such a great song and it should have been huge but the world sucks." (9.3)TOTAL: 46.3 | AVERAGE: 9.26The third best is...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} BB!Mariah Carey - "Emotions"Sambalada: "I prefer this over the other Mariah song in this round but both are great. When Mariah hit that whistle note, I feel like I'm in paradise already. And everything that build up to that moment was a textbook on how to make a great pop song." (9.0)Walt: "Mariah is the first person who comes to mind when I hear the phrase “pop diva”, glad to see she has multiple songs in. This is a jam, and Mariah gives possibly her best vocal performance here. The range this song requires is crazy, only Mariah could pull this off. Those whistle notes are incredible. Great song." (8.8)Gates: "I used to really dislike this song; I guess because of how it's waaaaaay too similar to "Got To Be Real" by Cheryl Lynn? But later on, further listens have warmed me up to it; I think Mariah put just enough of her own stamp on the song so I can ignore that voice in the back of my head." (6.7)Mayman: "This is great. The whistle notes are obviously the best part of the song. Although I wish someone sent a more R&B song which would get a higher score from me." (9.5)Hamed: "The Mariah picks in here are amazing. Emotions is another all time favorite, her vocals are stellar on this one and some of her strongest ever. I also just love the whole melody and the production, there is a reason why this is one of her hardest songs to perform live." (10)TOTAL: 44.0 | AVERAGE: 8.8Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} SHRUGGIE!Aaliyah - "Try Again"Sambalada: "It's such a risky choice considering it's been used before. Seriously though, the bottom two appearance this song gets in S1 is TOTALLY undeserving. It's a great song with a great production behind it. I'm totally on board!" (8.7)Walt: "Funny that I sent this song first season and now I get to judge it lol. Anyway, this is an awesome song, Timbaland’s production is sick and ahead of its time and Aaliyah sounds great on it. RIP." (9.1)Gates: "Aaliyah's smooth and confident voice definitely does justice to the songwriting here and the chorus in particular is all-star material. Timbaland is kind of a frustrating producer because he can put excellent and annoying elements together in the same song. Love the drums here, but the tone on the acid synth is a little too squicky." (7.5)Mayman: "This is such a good song. These verses and the chorus are so good, what a great R&B song." (9.0)Hamed: "Another absolute classic, I love Timbalamd's production and Aaliyah sounds great vocally. I absolutely love the melody though its not my top favorite from Aaliyah. However it is still a fantastic classic, rip to a legend." (9.5)TOTAL: 43.8 | AVERAGE: 8.76Next...
{Spoiler}{Spoiler} NICK PERKINS!Whitney Houston - "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)"Sambalada: "Whitney's signature song! And for a reason. Call me basic, but this is my favorite of Whitney's dance pop songs. Maybe because I heard it a lot as a kid but yeah, this is an undeniable classic. It's impossible to dislike. Whitney's performance is f**king amazing." (9.5)Walt: "Yeah, this song is still great. With overplay it’s shrunken on me a little, but it still makes me happy every time it comes on." (8.8)Gates: "This is the best of the 3 Houston songs here but I think it's actually grown off me slightly. Let's call this The One With The Deep Voices Dudes." (6.5)Mayman: "Another classic. This is so catchy and an overall great song. She does these songs so well." (9.9)Hamed: "The classics are coming through on here, this is another absolute feel good bop. Whitney sounds gorgeous vocally and the production is complete fun. This isn't my favorite from Whitney tbh and it's a little overplayed." (9.0)TOTAL: 43.7 | AVERAGE: 8.74Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} BORN!Robyn feat. Kleerup - "With Every Heartbeat"
Sambalada: "Oh my God. I applaud your bravery for sending Robyn who's not as commercially successful as the other ladies but wow this song slaps. I thought Robyn only started making perfect pop songs in Body Talk but this is immaculate. Gorgeous melody, gorgeous vocals, AMAZING production. What more could I ask for?" (9.3)Walt: "Oh, this is an unexpected choice! I love Robyn so I ain’t complaining though. And Jesus Christ, the production on this is incredible, it’s so intricate and dream-like. I love this. Great choice!" (9.6)Gates: "The production on this song is absolutely exquisite. The rhythm has a good amount of heft to it, but it's surrounded by an arrangement with a cool aura of mystery and sensitivity that complements Robyn's expressions well. The structure of the song is just enough outside the norm to keep your attention, too. The weak point is probably the melodies themselves, but I was feeling them more on this listen than in the past." (8.0)Mayman: "Who tf is this lmao? Even if Idk her, the song is really good. I love it and it's a great discovery." (9.3)Hamed: "I love Robyn's voice on this and I love the production but I feel like this song has weak chorus and is repetitive. I feel like it could have built into a bigger chorus but it kind of flatlines and goes nowhere." (7.5)TOTAL: 43.7 | AVERAGE: 8.74Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} FEARLESS!Madonna - "Hung Up"Sambalada: "Many people knows I stan Madonna. Well, pre-2008 Madonna that is. The thing is, I don't stan people if they don't make great music. This is without a doubt a pop perfection. The production makes you wanna dance. I f**king love the nu-disco vibe. Madonna doesn't show a single aging crack in her vocal performance and that's saying something since she's in her mid 40s when this was made. Y'all this is the pop music that influence 2020 Dua Lipa and it's f**king great!" (9.8)Walt: "The ABBA sample here works incredibly well and the whole song is a fun 70’s-inspired jam, especially the second half of the second verse which is pop bliss imo. I’d put this among Madonna’s best hits easily." (8.9)Gates: "This song is cool but I don't think I'll ever fully get over the feeling that the beat is, like, on Puff Daddy levels of uninspired sampling usage lol." (7.4)Mayman: "I like this one. I don't like much of Madonna's music, but this one is good. It reminds me of what Dua is putting out now." (7.9)Hamed: "Up there as one my top Madonna songs. I absolutely love the sample of Gimme A Man After Midnight but this song makes it, it's own. The production on this is just amazing and Madonna sounds great, but it really is the production on this. It's such a killer melody that I would love this with or without Madonna's vocals. But her vocal delivery is great and the song is well written." (9.5)TOTAL: 43.5 | AVERAGE: 8.7Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} SLIPPERY!Kylie Minogue - "Can't Get You Out Of My Head"Sambalada: "I can't say this song deserved to be Kylie's signature song since she has much better songs but that doesn't mean it's bad! It's such a jam. The production is immaculate and while she's not playing around with her vocals much, Kylie sounds gorgeous. The song structure is also well-written. A cute pop song this is." (8.8)Walt: "Man, this song is so good, the production and Kylie’s “la la la”s make for a hypnotic, almost dream-like listen. Plus, it’s catchy as hell." (9.4)Gates: "This song is all about making you feel lighter than air, from Kylie's breathy performance, to the propulsive but gentle beat, to the rising transitions in the prechoruses. I do feel the songwriting doesn't fully stand up to overplay, though (which it's definitely been a victim of). It doesn't keep me as invested as a song like, for instance, "Love At First Sight"." (7.5)Mayman: "This is so catchy. Overall a good song, although I don't seek it out much. The "la la la"s are the best part." (7.7)Hamed: "This is another completely hypnotic pop classic. Fever is up there as one of my all time favorite albums and this song is just amazing." (9.5)TOTAL: 42.9 | AVERAGE: 8.58Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} CHARMANDER!Whitney Houston - "How Will I Know"Sambalada: "I loooovee the 80s! Such an amazing time for pop songs. This song is no exception, I love the instruments. So fun and bouncy. Whitney herself also deliver a gorgeous vocal performance that fit well with the fun production." (8.3)Walt: "The energy of this song is infectious, the chorus is catchy and Whitney sounds great here, plus the sax solo at the end which is just glorious. I’d honestly say I prefer this to I Wanna Dance With Somebody." (9.0)Gates: "3 Whitney songs and they're all uptempos. Well, if you going to choose her, that's certainly the right way to go when it comes to my tastes, lol. I'm only fond of one or two of her ballads. These 3 songs are pretty similar, and since they all have the same producer it kind of figures. Uh how will I be distinguishing these hmm? Let's call this The One With The Saxophone." (6.3)Mayman: "This was another discovery and it was really good. Whitney really does uptempo well, what a gorgeous song." (9.7)Hamed: "My fourth favorite from Whitney, I consider it to be the surperior I Wanna Dance With Somebody. They both sound very similar but this predates that song by a whole album. Its pop gold and just a good feel good pop bop." (9.5)TOTAL: 42.8 | AVERAGE: 8.56Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} SAMOSAURUS!Mariah Carey - "Someday"Sambalada: " F*CK! I knew this theme is gonna be stacked before people even started sending songs but like all these songs are classic. "Someday" is such a feel good song. The lyrics are great and Mariah sings it very well. The people who write the song's melody and structure also need to be applauded. This song is a jam and we all know it." (8.7)Walt: "This is my favorite of Mariah’s singles from her self-titled album. I’m a sucker for a thumping new jack swing beat and Mariah’s vocals are heavenly as always. Love the guitar solo here too, as short as it is." (8.6)Gates: "Yea this song's alright. It's in the lane of New Jack Swing that emphasises the better flourishes of the genre but doesn't really do anything outside of the box to make me want to come back to it." (6.1)Mayman: "This new jack swing inspired song is one of the best from her debut. I like that it's uptempo compared to a lot of the other songs from her debut." (9.1)Hamed: "Yessss, my favorite single from her debut album. Someday is such a funky feel good bop that just puts a bright smile on my face. I literally love her vocals on this one, she kills it. The classic production also is a match made in heaven. One of my all time favorites from Mariah." (10)TOTAL: 42.5 | AVERAGE: 8.5Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} ADRIAN C.!Whitney Houston - "So Emotional"Sambalada: "Fu*k. All these Whitney classics. Y'all are killing me!!! Her vocals are exquisite, especially in the pre-chorus where she builds up to the explosive chorus. Her talent is one in a million. The production also makes this song such a fun jam to dance around to." (8.7)Walt: "Yet another Whitney jam, this is such a bop. I love the production here, Whitney sounds awesome, and the chorus is catchy as hell." (8.9)Gates: "And this is the weakest Houston song of the round. Mostly because on the other two I can ignore the usual problem of her oversinging but it's too prominent to not notice here. Let's call this The One With The AOR Guitar." (6.0)Mayman: "This one is really good too. The vocals are really good here." (9.4)Hamed: "We really got 3 Whitney classics in here. I think this one is stronger than I Wanna Dance, I like the production on this one way more. I also think this one is not as overplayed as I Wanna Dance so it stays fresh for me." (9.3)TOTAL: 42.3 | AVERAGE: 8.46Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} WILLAPTED!Madonna - "Ray Of Light"Sambalada: "Ray Of Light remains Madonna's best, most personal, most cohesive, most forward-thinking album she has done. This song is such a beautiful track lyrically. The dance production is flawless and also gives the track a feel-good vibe. It has gorgeous verses and a strong explosive hook. This is Madonna at her finest for sure." (9.9)Walt: "This is a great summer driving song. When I listen to this, I picture someone driving top down through a field of sunflowers. I also love how Madonna incorporated trance elements into this song." (8.2)Gates: "My memory isn't always the best, but this may be among the first songs I ever loved. It goes to show the versatile appeal of this song since I still love the song to this very day. The melody is cheery but not frivolous. The production is complex but not overcomplicated, with various points of focus that you can switch between throughout the song. It's uplifting but with edge, and it's perfect for both dancing and bedroom listening." (8.8)Mayman: "This one I don't like so much. I like the chill vibe of the song, but the vocals just aren't good. Just not my thing." (6.3)Hamed: "Another classic, this has always been such a catchy song. I first heard this song because of that one Disney movie Ice Princess. This is always one of Madonna's most unique songs and I think it is a song that will never be replicated. It's another feel good song though it's not my favorite from Madge or its album." (9.0)TOTAL: 42.2 | AVERAGE: 8.44Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} EIDDE!Rihanna - "Disturbia"Sambalada: "This is one of Rihanna's classic I was never too crazy about. I mean it's still catchy and the cute TikTok videos I have seen using this song made the song kinda grow on me lmao. That being said, the hook isn't as strong as some of her other songs and I'm not feeling the verses either." (6.7)Walt: "This song has probably the best use of Auto-Tune I’ve ever heard in a mainstream pop song, it really adds to the haunting, uneasy vibe the song is going for and the song wouldn’t work nearly as well without it imo. Plus, the song is a whole jam." (9.1)Gates: "The vocals are the main reason I like this song. Every melody is better than the last, Rihanna's at the top of her game and she's serving up these cool lyrical earworms ("if you must falter, be wise" is the one I come back to the most). The song's lucky to have that on its side because the production is merely serviceable at best. Not much going on in that department, feels dated at times too." (6.9)Mayman: "A Halloween anthem! This is such a catchy song, I love it. Definitely in my top 3 from the singles from that era." (9.3)Hamed: "My favorite song from Rihanna, I love the dark tone and Electropop sound she takes up on the song. I just find it to be so catchy and it's a song that I just can't help but absolutely love when it comes on." (10)TOTAL: 42.0 | AVERAGE: 8.4Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} VIOLET!Billie Eilish - "everything i wanted"Sambalada: "Lol I absolutely love this kind of song from Billie. Her haters said she can't sing and just whispers in her song. Well, guess what, bitches! You can't tell me she sounds gorgeous in this song. The definition of a good singer is not someone who belts on every song, at least not for me. In my opinion a good singer is someone who can interact with the listeners with their songs, and Billie did that with this song. Gorgeous." (8.9)Walt: "Is Billie really a “pop diva”? I like her, but I’m not sure that’s the best label for her. Ignoring that, this song is incredible and is definitely my favorite hit of 2020 so far." (9.5)Gates: "Emotionally potent lyrics delivered in exactly the right way. This listen truly sold me on the instrumental--before now I was feeling positive on it but not to the point of thinking it compared with the indie ambient house style it was clearly attempting. But when you listen closely you can tell the work was put in, like at the beginning you hear the piano track ducking in and out on the beat in the absence of the percussion, and the harmonies when she sings the title in the pre-choruses." (7.8)Mayman: "Definitely wouldn't have considered Billie a "pop diva" lol. The song is good but not among her best songs imo. I think lyrically it's one of her best though." (8.8)Hamed: "A choice was made here lol. I don't consider Billie a pop diva but sure let's go with that. I particularly never cared for this song, it doesn't go anywhere for me but its chill and nicely written. I loved her EP, bury a friend, and when the party's over way more than this. This is just ok." (6.0)TOTAL: 40.7 | AVERAGE: 8.14 The last person to escape the bottom three is... {Spoiler}{Spoiler} SURFBOARDT!Beyoncé - "Partition"Sambalada: "Eternal hoe anthem!!! I can't NOT shake my ass and/or rub my body all around listening to this song. I would pull o- Ugh... Imma just stop before I say something inappropriate." (9.7)Walt: "I could see this being a polarizing choice, fortunately I like this song a lot. Bey plays into her bad bitch side here, it’s a fun track that makes me feel confident as f**k lol. (7.9)Gates: "I've never been big on the category of Beyonce songs characterized by Formation, 7/11, and the like. This is the best one of those, though it's not saying much. Mostly what elevates it is the great bassline and the chorus." (6.3)Mayman: "I like this song, especially the first part. The second half is good although I don't really care for that spoken bridge (I guess that's what it would be called?)" (8.6)Hamed: "Another interesting pick with this one especially since it's a two for one special. The Yonce part of this song is funky and catchy but on the weaker side. However, when the real Partition rolls in s**t gets real. Partition is a hoe anthem and I absolutely love it. I love the lyrics and I love the whole melody. If you take away the Yonce portion and just leave in the real Partition, I would have rated this higher. Partition on it's own would be a 9." (8.2)TOTAL: 40.7 | AVERAGE: 8.14 Which means the bottom three are...{Spoiler}{Spoiler}

The last person to advance to the next round is...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} MATT!Beyoncé - "All Night"Sambalada: "I really can't comment on this song without mentioning how much this albums impact my life. I can't relate to every tracks personally for obvious reasons but the rollercoaster of emotions she bring into this project make me believe I can get through anything in life. "All Night" itself is so f**king beautiful. Almost too beautiful actually. The lyrics about forgiveness and commitment is beautiful and the song's instrumental added to the sentiment." (9.7)Walt: "Man, the chorus to this song is so good. Beyonce’s vocals and the horns are blissful here. I wish the verses were as great as the hook and it runs a little long imo, but still, really good song!" (8.3)Gates: "Ok I'm not sure about that "kiss up and rub up and feel up" hook at all, lol. Aside from that bit, though, this is one of the better Lemonade songs I've heard so far (nope, stil haven't heard the whole album). I like a lot of the little affectations Beyonce puts into her vocals, and the reggae-rock vibe of the instrumental is pretty elegant and organic, which seems to be a rarity when pop stars attempt something like this style." (7.2)Mayman: "I really like the chill vibe of the whole song. The chorus is the best part and the horns and the Travis ad libs make it even better." (8.5)Hamed: "Ok so this isn't my favorite from Lemonade, something about doesn't fully click with me. I think Yonce sounds nice on this and the lyrics are good and the production fits. I just don't know why but I'm not crazy over it and rarely ever come back to it." (6.8)TOTAL: 40.5 | AVERAGE: 8.1 Which means...
{Spoiler}{Spoiler} CARRIE, I'm sorry but you've been eliminated.
Britney Spears - "Oops!... I Did It Again"
Sambalada: "One of Britney's many classics. It's always compared to BOMT though and unfortunately on this song's case, BOMT totally overshadowed it. It's still a total jam and the video is beyond iconic. The writers know how to make catchy memorable hook for sure." (8.0) Walt: "A classic of the teen-pop era with an iconic, sing-along chorus. Love it." (8.4) Gates: "Oops I made the same song again but with lesser hooks and the relationship dynamic has changed so the instrumental bounces off the tone of the lyrics. And now the bridge is a weirdly implemented movie reference which instantly dates the song poorly?" (4.4) Mayman: "This is among her top 5 songs for me. It's so catchy and I love the final choruses." (9.0) Hamed: "One of my all time favorites from Britney then again I have a lot of favorites from her. This one has always been so infectiously catchy and I always think of it as one of her most memorable songs. I also do think the bridge is corny and it works in favor of the song when the final chorus follows it." (9.5)
TOTAL: 39.3 | AVERAGE: 7.86

GV, I'm sorry but you've also been eliminated.
Kelly Clarkson - "A Moment Like This"
Sambalada: "I'm echoing the comment that she has much better songs to choose from. When people said they wish to see more left-field choices, this is not what they mean lmao. It's not a left-field choice. Just a choice. Lmao. It's just your typical bland American Idol songs. Her voice is beautiful but every thing else is so basic." (5.2) Walt: "There’s so many great Kelly hits and this was chosen? Look, she gives a good vocal performance here and the melody is nice… but it’s a pretty faceless, typical AC ballad. It’s probably the best American Idol coronation song but still, ultimately this song is just meh for me." (5.3) Gates: "Tsk tsk, sending the demo version of "Believe It Or Not, It's E3" instead of the real thing--an amateur move." (3.6) Mayman: "Meh. This is alright but definitely not close to her best. The vocals are good and the backup singers during the last minute of the song are cool. It just feels kinda empty." (7.1) Hamed: "Of all Kelly Clarkson songs, why the actual f**k did you send this. It's cute but like it's such a boring forgettable song, she sounds nice but this is such a faceless song. Ya couldn't have sent like Behind These Hazel Eyes, Dark Side, Miss Indepedent, Sober, Love So Soft, literally so many better options wrte available. SHAME ON YOU WHOEVER SENT THIS!" (4.0)

Welp, there goes my Pulse Last Stand run. If I went with Oops, I'll still be leaving this set. But, I'll stay with this season until the finals.

lol this is what happens when your taste in music is mostly indie or obscure music and you're expected to come up with pop divas with a flimsy definition provided.
this legit wasn't my wheelhouse and i'm glad i'm moving on.
