also divos sound like the name of a vaguely mexican version of deviled eggs made primarily by trump supporters trying to claim they're multicultural.

Probably the right calls ultimately, I feel like Billie should've place bottom 3 just for not truly fitting the theme but it is a better song than the other two (which I prefer but they're cheesy).
Absolutely the correct winner though, good job Judges!
Who woulda thought picking Kelly and Britney would get you eliminated from a Pop Diva showdown on Pulse?! ahah

ROUND TWO - RESULTS
Well you guys had to wait exactly 3 days now lol. All seven judges have sent their scores and the results are in. Our winner this time received two 10 scores! It's unanonimously praised by every single judges. The winner for this round is...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} CHARMANDER!Michael Jackson - "Billie Jean"Are we surprised? This song is ICONIC no matter what some outlier people say.Sambalada: "Oh hello, "Like A Virgin" intro twin! This is the more superior song though. Jackson's charisma is shown through this song. Along with his vocals talent obviously. The iconic bassline stole the show, and his vocals on the pre-chorus is another highlight." (9.5)Walt: "I was gonna say, “Who doesn’t love this song?” but if the events in the Discord are any indication, multiple people don’t. But for me, this is an undeniable classic." (9.3)Gates: "I almost want to tank this because it's the ulimate in easy choices, lol. But nah. I mean, probably a few War And Peace's worth of words have been written about this song; you don't need me to tell you why it's pop perfection." (9.0)Mayman: "Another classic. You could've sent just about any song from Michael's golden era (Off The Wall through Dangerous) and I would give you a good score. This one is really good and it's in my ever so important Oldies playlist." (9.2)Hamed: "One of the best songs from MJ and such an iconic classic. The moment that melody starts I just melt on the inside a little. We truly don't have music like this being put out anymore. It's so damn good and I just can't help but love it so much." (10)GV: "One of my all-time favorite songs from the 80s-90s timeline. Don’t need to give detailed explanation on how great this song is. Billie Jean is a great song and that’s it.” (8.5)Carrie: "A LEGENDARY man!!! Love this song too! One of my favorites from the King of Pop!" (10)TOTAL: 65.5 | AVERAGE: 9.36The second best is...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} WILLAPTED!David Bowie - "Starman"Sending a song from a time period when most of us hadn't born yet for a Pop song round is a risky move. But it paid off for you!Sambalada: "This is the first time I listen to this Bowie song. I've heard so much hype for its parent album and I gotta say, I'm not disappointed. The instrumentation is beautiful and the song is actually catchy, without taking away from the music arrangements. I dig this one." (8.4)Walt: "This is one of Bowie’s best, just a beautiful song with an incredible melody." (8.7)Gates: "Ok now this is the Bowie you love to see. The players are all at the top of their game, jamming the hell out of this tune and clearly having a blast, and of course they're laying the foundation for a wonderful arrangement filled with graceful flourishes and stunning individual moments. And the man himself does a great job bringing the story of the lyrics to life, being the vessel for smart and vivid writing that portrays a cool but flawed character." (9.8)Mayman: "The chorus is the best part of the song. Once again the instrumental/production is great here and really brings the song together." (8.7)Hamed: "Not the biggest Bowie fan, I do enjoy this one more than Rebel Rebel. This is one of my favorites from Bowie but it's still not something I come back to on my own." (8.3)GV: “It’s vibe really reminds me of the top songs from the early 2000s, particularly those that came out from 2003-2005. This is easily the better Bowie song off the two that in this round.” (8.0)Carrie: (9.0)TOTAL: 60.9 | AVERAGE: 8.7The third best is...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} BB!Prince & The Revolution - "Kiss"Consistency is key! Congratulations for staying in the top 3 two rounds in a row!Sambalada: "This song will always hold a special place in my heart as it's my introduction to the late Prince. Now THIS is how you pair a strong hook and a funky bassline. The chorus has one of the strongest hook I've ever heard in a pop song. Simply put, this is fantastic." (9.8)Walt: "Now this is a song I highly doubt anyone dislikes. Man, it’s so groovy." (9.2)Gates: "Objectively "Kiss" has the goods: Unique, crisp production, melodic variation, relatable personality. The question, though, is how much do I enjoy Kiss? The answer is, a good amount, but not a whole lot. It doesn't offer the extra 'oomph' necessary to really excite me. I dunno, maybe this is the fault of early desensitization, lol--no doubt it receives overplay out the wazoo." (7.0)Mayman: "I like the vibe of this song. It's not one of my favorite from him, but it's still a good song. The final chorus is the best part of the song for me." (8.6)Hamed: "Yesss Prince is so damn good and Kiss is an amazing song. The song is such a funky pop number that was just so innovative for it's time. Prince's voice is so unique and is just killer. I will always love this song." (9.8)GV: "I have the same perception on Prince when I first heard his name as David Bowie, but the pseudo-psychotic but funky at the same time beat mixed with complex but sultry lyrics make this really good. Heard of this before but this is a good re-listen.” (7.0)Carrie: (9.0)TOTAL:60.4 | AVERAGE: 8.63Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} VIOLET!The Weeknd - "Blinding Lights"Sambalada: "I can already feel this song is gonna be a staple on Pulse games a la "Starboy" so hey, better get this out of the way as soon as possible on Last Stand! There's nothing I can say about this that haven't been said before. Amazing production and possibly the best vocal performance from Weeknd's pop career." (8.8)Walt: "Pulse’s favorite hit of 2020, y’all. But it’s excellent so I ain’t complaining. Love the 80’s synthpop vibes here." (8.6)Gates: "This song was a grower for me. At the start of its run I was like "oh so The Weeknd's found a new way to not be risky, he just made a Blade Runner song to strike an easy balance between commercial viability and hitting critics in their weak spots." I liked it, but it felt too perfect and calculated to love--a flat surface of a song. But when you hear it enough times, it opens up by showing you more of its glitches and human moments, and then you notice how may times the song feels like its kicking into another gear. It was at that point I could let loose and truly have fun with the song." (7.8)Mayman: "I do enjoy this one, although it's not one of my favorite from the album. I think it's a good song but I've always though there's something missing that doesn't push it to that amazing mark for me, not sure what it is." (8.7)Hamed: "God the synthpop came the f**k out in this song, that production is just amazing on it's own. Abel sounds fantastic on the song and I do like the lyrics of the song too." (9.1)GV: "Why on God's green Earth we have Blinding Lights in this round when there are other great Weeknd songs to choose from, but hey it’s still Blinding Lights so why not! This is a more popular and obvious example of how I really love upbeat and dance songs, after all, Weeknd kills it with that type of songs already before with Can’t Feel My Face and I Feel It Coming. My upmost salutations to whoever sent this, you get a major up from me!” (9.5)Carrie: (7.9)TOTAL: 60.4 | AVERAGE: 8.63Next...
{Spoiler}{Spoiler} DISTRICT!Harry Styles - "Adore You"Sambalada: "Yo after his two albums, I can safely conclude Harry is the most talented member of the group. It really shows how being untied from the boyband he now has the freedom to make good pop music. This song is fire. Harry's vocal performance is on par with the great production." (8.5)Walt: "I think Harry is a tad overrated as a solo artist, but fortunately, you picked one of the songs from him I like. The chorus here is great and I feel like this song could be released at any point in the past forty years and it wouldn’t sound out of place." (7.9)Gates: "This song reminds me most of the sophisti-funk side of pop around 86/87 with shades of 'exotica'. It's very groovy, and the harmonies in the chorus are killer. But I do feel there's a little too much production sheen; it shows there are still vestiges of the One Direction vortex present in Styles' music." (7.2)Mayman: "I enjoy this song, although I'm not huge on it. It's catchy and the chorus is pretty good though and the instrumental is cool. I would rather hear this than a bunch of the other stuff other male pop stars are putting out now."(8.4)Hamed: "Great current pick, Harry sounds fantastic and totally in his lane on the song. The production is ace and Harry in the chorus sounds gorgeous. One of my favorites of the year for sure." (9.3)GV: "Feels completely weird that it was ZAYN who left One Direction, yet it was Harry who gives the best music. Hands down to his best song and major props to whoever sent this.” (8.5)Carrie: "That's right, we gave this a perfect score!! Everything about it is iconic and I can't get enough of it lately!" (10)TOTAL: 59.8 | AVERAGE: 8.54Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} MATT!Michael Jackson - "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough"
Sambalada: "Now this is a groovy song. I love the disco instrumental. It makes for a very fun song. Michael's vocals on some places sound unpleasant (mostly in parts when he used falsetto) but overall he's served a good performance." (8.1)Walt: "Another great Michael song. This song just makes me want to get up and dance, it’s so fun lol. Great choice." (8.5)Gates: "God this song utterly bangs. It has a clever design where you can totally just treat it like a normal dance song, let your mind free and lose yourself completely, but you can also take it apart piece by piece and realize all the cloudy, spindly strangeness lurking within. And MJ knows how to navigate it all with a mesmerizing falsetto." (9.4)Mayman: "This is one of my favorite songs from him. The length of the song works very well and the loud vocals make it so memorable and catchy. Good choice!"(9.7)Hamed: "A total funky classic, I absolutely love the melody and production on this one. MJ sounds fantastic and just kills it vocally. Though I think the song gets old past the 3 minute mark. It also has been light years away from being a favorite from MJ for me cause I eventually get a bit tired due to the length of the song." (8.4)GV: "I’m not entirely familiar with the early music of Michael Jackson, but the instrumental is still funky so I consider it as slightly positive.” (6.0)Carrie: (9.5)TOTAL: 59.6 | AVERAGE: 8.51Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} ZACH!James Bay - "Pink Lemonade"Sambalada: "I charted this back in 2017. I like the instrumental on this song, especially the drums and bass. James Bay also gave a great vocal performance, especially when the song is about to end." (7.7)Walt: "Oh, this is different! I’m not too fond of his wannabe Ed Sheeran stuff, but this is really solid. The guitars here are great and I like the hook." (8.1)Gates: "This may forever be Bay's best song, as nothing he's made before or since indicates he cares to recapture this magic. What a breath of fresh air this was for Alt at the time, everything about this is 2000s indie/garage revival done right." (8.4)Mayman: "This was a cool discovery, I really enjoyed it! The vocal layering, production, lyrics, instrumental everything was really cool and I added it to my Alt/Rock playlist." (9.6)Hamed: "Oh wow this is an interesting unexpected pick. I think James Bay sounds amazing on this and the production gives the song such a fun energy." (8.8)GV: "Songs that has that type of production and instrumental are always a positive for me, this is no exception. This made me do a little jiggle while listening to this.” (7.0)Carrie: (7.5)TOTAL: 57.1 | AVERAGE: 8.16Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} SLIPPERY!Justin Timberlake - "LoveStoned"Sambalada: "FutureSex/LoveSounds is my favorite pop album by a male artist of all-time. Period. And now I think this song is the best single from it. It's very innovative in sound and still catchy as hell to this day. I really don't see the 'dated' critique on this era. The instrumental break with the groovy bassline is a showstopper. Even the prolonged interlude sounds great. This is perfection." (9.6)Walt: "Yessss my favorite Justin Timberlake song made an appearance! The production here is excellent, and goddamn that outro is f**king immaculate. It elevates the song from great to amazing." (9.4)Gates: "If nothing else, you certainly can't accuse the Futuresex/Lovesounds album of being inconsistent in style, lol. Melodically there's a lot of good writing here. But I'm put off by Timberlake's attitude here; it's not the least bit approachable." (6.4)Mayman: "This one is incredible, I love this one. The background ad libs and the multiple hooks really get this song stuck in your head. I can't be the only one who wished someone had sent What Goes Around Comes Around though." (9.4)Hamed: "The best Justin Timberlake song if you ask me. I love the entire melody and production of the song. I absolutely love everything going on in this song and even though it's really long, it doesn't get old or tired for me." (10)GV: "As mentioned on Pink Lemonade, upbeat and dance songs are always good to my ears. Love how LoveStoned/I Think She Knows contrast the other songs from Timberlake during this era.” (6.5)Carrie: (5.0)TOTAL: 56.3 | AVERAGE: 8.04Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} SURFBOARDT!Elton John - "Your Song"Sambalada: "This has always been a highlight among Elton's ballads. The harmony in the instrumental is perfect. Elton's delivery is so sweet and I think I actually cried a little bit when I listened to this song for the first time. And I didn't even understand English at the time which shows how powerful Elton's performance is here." (9.1)Walt: "Simply a beautiful song, I love the stream-of-consciousness style lyrics and Elton’s vocals here are wonderful. Classic." (9.0)Gates: "I feel like a more fruitful Elton choice could've been made here. We're talking about guys with a starpower here, and Elton was definitely a larger-than-life figure, so it seems odd to go with one of his most laidback songs. But for sure, "Your Song" deserves most of the accolades its collected over the years. It's not a song I've ever felt super-attached to, because it's a love song that leans hard on its lyrics and I'm not always the biggest fan of those. However, the lyrics themselves are so gorgeously written, in a very classical sense." (7.3)Mayman: "Sorry but I find this song pretty boring. The lyrics are so basic imo and nothing spectacular. The vocals from Elton brings the song up for me." (6.5)Hamed: "Elton's voice and the lyrics on this are like magic. The production is simple but fits like a glove, it emphasizes Elton's voice and the lyrics. Everything about this song is just magic to me." (9.6)GV: "Major apologies to whoever sent this song, but piano-driven songs were never really my thing. But, listening to this gave me a trivia came from this song as Aloe Blacc sampled this song for Becky-I mean The Man.” (6.5)Carrie: (8.0)TOTAL: 56.0 | AVERAGE: 8.0Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} ADRIAN C.!David Bowie - "Rebel Rebel"Sambalada: "I listened to this when I was playing the David Bowie radio on Spotify and my first thought was, 'wow this sucks'. It does have a good bassline but the music is mostly annoying, and Bowie sound like he's struggling to hit those notes. I don't find it as horrible now but it's rough around the edges for sure." (5.8)Walt: "I have fond childhood memories associated with this song and it still holds up well. Great pick." (8.4)Gates: "Bowie was shamelessly doing a Stones impersonation on this track. It pays off in terms of the instrumental, particularly the enduring kick-ass riff. It conveys the turmoil the subjects of the song face as they're defying expectations the prevailing culture has for their lifestyle. In terms of his vocal performance though, I don't like how simplistic the lyrics in the verses are, or how the melody mimics the guitar almost exactly, making them feel a little monotonous. I'd like it more if the whole song had the variation contained within the last 1:30." (7.3)Mayman: "A classic. The instrumental/production is fantastic and the song is itself is so catchy. Always done for some Bowie songs." (9.2)Hamed: "I didn't expect David Bowie songs to be in this at all. Personally I'm not a huge David Bowie but I enjoyed his melodies, his lyricism, and how unique he was. This song is always a pleasant song but I never come back to it willingly, but if it comes on I don't mind it." (7.7)GV: "I obviously wasn’t born around the time Bowie was on his prime and I only get to have an idea of him when he died back in 2016, so this is another interesting listen. Gonna admit, the instrumental has that old-school vibe and Bowie delivered those lyrics very well.” (7.0)Carrie: "A LEGENDARIC artist!!! People sent the right songs too." (9.5)TOTAL: 54.9 | AVERAGE: 7.84Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} EIDDE!Bruno Mars - "Moonshine"Sambalada: "I do remember this song being one of the standouts from Jukebox but wow, it sure has been a long time since the last I heard this. I gotta say though, the bassline carried this song. Bruno sounds good but not his peak performance and the melody could be catchier honestly. The production is f**king great really, I just hope the other aspects could match up." (7.5)Walt: "This was a first listen for me and wow, I’m really digging the production. Definitely gonna return to this. Cool pick!" (8.2)Gates: "This song has that melancholic yearning new wave flavor of the early 80s--picture The Cure crossed with "Waiting For A Girl Like You". This was the turning point for Bruno in my mind. I was surprised to hear him come out with something so lush and genuine after he began the decade as one of my least favorite pop stars." (7.0)Mayman: "This one was really boring, sorry. He's done this same song better imo and there's so many other good songs that you could've chosen from Bruno." (6.1)Hamed: "I was definitely not expecting this to be the song to sent from Bruno. I'm still mad this wasn't a single, it's such a damn good song and should have been the follow up to Locked Out Of Heaven." (9.7)GV: "An interesting listen because although I love Bruno Mars’ music very much, I never heard of this before judging this song right now! But I wasn’t surprised by how good the song is, the shock factor would be me never actually listened to this before now.” (7.5)Carrie: (8.5)TOTAL: 54.5 | AVERAGE: 7.79Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} BORN!Twin Shadow - "Five Seconds"Sambalada: "Yeah I'm loving these bold submissions so far from you. I think it's a nice song. The production is great and the melody was sung very well. The abrupt change from the chorus to the next verse kinda threw me off a bit but it's okay." (7.8)Walt: "This is pretty nice, I love the ‘80’s vibes here too and Twin Shadow has a cool voice. Also appreciate how whoever sent this took a risk." (8.2)Gates: "Now this I know for certain was chosen because of me lol. An intense, springy new wave throwback with a hell of a groove. Those guitars and synths sound cutting but never overwhelming. Lewis Jr.'s voice is rich and powerful here--the way he utterly rips apart the "There's no way to forget it all" line is the ultimate highlight of the song." (8.5)Mayman: "Lol the transition from Blinding Lights to this sounded very similar. Anyway, this was enjoyable and I loved the instrumental. A great song, although I wouldn't consider them a Pop Divo lol." (8.9)Hamed: "Risky pick, never heard of this song or artist. I can't even find a wikipedia page on the song lol. The song sounds nice, I like the melody but it didn't really entertain me at all outside of the instrumental. It feels like an imitation of synth pop rock bands from the 80s." (6.5)GV: "The vibe was strong and fast from the get-go and I gotta say, this is a great listen and props to whoever sent this.” (7.0)Carrie: (6.5)TOTAL: 53.4 |AVERAGE: 7.63Next...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} SHRUGGIE!Justin Timberlake - "Cry Me A River"Sambalada: "So this is the second song to be recycled from Season 1. And sent by the same person. Girl, and it's only Round 2! I don't know if it's done intentionally but everyone who's known me long enough knows that I love this song to DEATH. It's one of only six songs in existence that I'd give a perfect 10. In fact, it's my second favorite song of all-time. Flawless production, flawless vocal delivery, clever lyrics. Flawless song." (10)Walt: "One of my favorite JT songs, I love the melodies here and Timbaland’s production is excellent as usual." (8.6)Gates: "This song is almost as boring a selection as Billie Jean, considering the host. I think if you extracted the musical skeleton of this song and gave it stronger production and lyrics I care more about, I would love this. But alas..." (5.9)Mayman: "The instrumental is a little odd (what is that outro!?) but the song is so damn catchy. This is one of his best songs in my opinion." (8.8)Hamed: "This song is good and the melody is good and so is the production. I think it's so god damn overrated and also I'm not a fan of the song in the sense that it did try to make Britney look bad. What Goes Around does this song better. I also never liked the Timbaland bridge. (7.8)GV: "The ad-libs from Timbaland I think is straight-up annoying, but a pretty decent song though. To whoever sent this, this Timberlake wasn’t really my taste.” (5.5)Carrie: (6.5)TOTAL: 53.1 | AVERAGE: 7.59The last person to escape the bottom two is...{Spoiler}{Spoiler} FEARLESS!Adam Lambert - "Ghost Town"Sambalada: "This is a very solid song. I love the guitar and the lyrics. The hook is pretty basic EDM beats but the whistle(?)-like instruments made it a real standout. I don't think this song captured the best of Adam's vocal ability but he still sound great in this song. Wow that's a lot of critique for a song I enjoy a lot but yeah, I have to nitpick things when it comes to this." (8.1)Walt: "I’ve always loved this song and I wish it was a bigger hit back in 2015. I love the drop section with the whistling and the pulsing house beat especially." (8.5)Gates: "Lol I feel kind of guilty for the rating I'm about to give this song. I knew I was familiar with this song but wasn't sure where, so I searched my PMs and found that I'd ranked this song pretty high in a rankdown Sambalada hosted. I'm not 100% confident, but I have a feeling the person who chose this based their pick on this fact? Which is unfortunate, because I totally disagree with said ranking now. I mean, it starts off with a nice folky section, I like the lyrics and I like the idea of contrasting those elements with the switch to the electronic beat. But maybe I was too distracted by that contrast at the time to notice the electronic parts are not very well-produced? which sort of drags the whole thing down." (5.0)Mayman: "This song is alright. The "drop" is cute and the best part of the song along with the instrumental. The lyrics just don't do much for me though." (7.2)Hamed: "By far Adam's best song and I'm still baffled that it wasn't a bigger hit. Adam sounds fantastic on the song. The production on the song has this slight dark but amazing beat. The bridge and final chorus especially are fantastic." (9.3)GV: "Haven’t heard this song that much when it first came out and I myself was never fond of Adam Lambert’s music, but this is pretty nice. I love how the somber lyrics clashed with the eccentric and strong instrumentals." (7.5)Carrie: "Not bad, but the choruses really ruin it for me. I much prefer the verses." (7.2)TOTAL: 52.8 | AVERAGE: 7.54 Which means the bottom two are...{Spoiler}{Spoiler}

I knew it was kind of a risky move and I was worried that I would get eliminated after I had sent it but glad it wasn't THAT disastrous of a risk - it was SUPER close though.

Well damn having a perfect score is eligible (if I did, Blinding Lights would've been 10 obviously), but it's a fun time judging these songs (if memory serves me correct this is my first time judging in any capacity!) Yo Sambalada keep me tagged in this game as part of audience.
