People need a fun song like this right now and it will still be super popular in summer. It was the right choice to swap. Love seeing it take off for them. Agreed. People are not interested in feeling their feelings during this crisis. Can't blame them. The demise of "Drowning" and pivot from "What I'm Leaving For" are great examples of that. I fear "Getting Good" could be next (The lyric 'I'm afraid of both my parents dying' is all too real right now.) “Getting Good” never got started though lol

Especially since the label does not seem to have any intentions of letting go anytime soon.

This literally missed the Mediabase top 50 by 5 points.
For some reason the spincrease to bullet ratio for “Champagne Night” is pretty low so even though it had a spincrease of 812 at one point, “Champagne Night” only gained around 150 spins this week. That isn’t bad, but not what I was led to believe. This’ll probably have a pretty lengthy climb if it’s to become a hit.

Lady A hasn't has a super fast climb in years -- even "What If I Never Get Over You" took 9 months to peak. Radio seems attached to this song though -- they wouldn't have pivoted away from "What I'm Leaving For" if that wasn't the case and they had an inkling it would be the case.

This somewhat sounds refreshing at this time for me. I just find it odd how much it changed from the original song performed on Songland, since they really changed all the lyrics. It's still good though because of the catchy tune and the overall vibe.

I’m so thrilled something from Songland is getting a real shot and I like this song quite a bit but I can’t not think of “Rich” when I hear it. They’re just too similar.

This is going to a smash pure and simple; their previous uptempo charttoppers including 'Bartender' and 'Compass' were downright stellar and this punchy number will undoubtedly light up the airwaves for the next several months.

I just noticed that the abrupt release of this song makes "What I'm Leaving For" their first single to miss the top 20. Does it even count?

It was moving very slowly so it could have missed the top 20 anyway, but it also could very well have gotten there after marathon chart run like “Heart Break” had.

Was it really moving that slow, though? It climbed to the top 40 in just under two months and pulled 51 initial adds. I do think it would have taken time, but it seemed to be doing fine. I have no doubt it would have made the top 20.

It got off to a pretty good start (which to me says that a better single choice would’ve done a lot better, but that’s another issue for another day lol) but it really started to slog in those last few weeks. You’re right that it most likely would’ve made the top 20 though, considering the lengths to which labels push songs nowadays.

Officially debuts at #49 on Mediabase with a bullet of 43. Not earth shattering but besides Luke Combs "Six Feet Apart" this song does have the highest spins gained for the week in the 41-50 range. Definitely interested to see how this keeps up, as the start for this song is solid, but just a little slower than what I was hoping for.

Definitely looking forward to hearing this awesome tune on the radio for the rest of 2020 considering how slow the charts have been as these pushes have gotten progressively larger.

Country radio is all in on this song as this song got 21 adds this week on Mediabase is up to #38 on Mediabase after only 7 weeks of promo and the sales remain terrific as "Champagne Night" is at #70 all genre on iTunes. Definitely the right choice to switch singles imo

Countdown spins from CT40 will kick in this upcoming weekend which will result in a nice boost exposure-wise.

They officially dropped "Antebellum" from their name and are now just "Lady A".

I love it! Especially them acknowledging they have no excuse as to why it wasn't changed sooner - no need for defensiveness. Just learn, commit to being better and grow! A great example is being set here and I hope their peers and community take notice.

Great move on their part. I had no clue of the association of the word "Antebellum", but they are right, "Lady A" has been their name...forever. They will be remembered for this subtle, yet historic shift.

Does anyone know if they've ever received criticism over their name before recent events? Just curious. I think it was a smart move on their part to change it, but am also wondering why they're just now realizing this lol.

Well I didn’t know what Antebellum meant actually I assumed it was something about before war just because Latin, but didn’t know about the association with plantations and slave labor. Good move! And good acknowledgement! Things are changing!

On the one hand, for someone who has 19 monthly listeners on Spotify and virtually no social media presence that I can see, to act like she is a known name who was intentionally disrespected is a little silly.
However, it’s pretty obvious that no one on their team actually did any research to make sure the name wasn’t already in use, and now that’s rightfully caused them a pretty big mess IMO.
Will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I've seen something like this before. There was an 80's rock group called Scandal ("Goodbye To You" and "The Warrior") and now there's a Japanese all girl group called Scandal.
