Total Points: 727 Average: 55.9 Year Released: November, 2005 Mediabase Peak: #50 Billboard Peak: #51 Rankings:sabre14 - 3 Cody Wants Out... - 6 bboat11 - 15 Kanenrá:ke - 30 kw9461 - 37 .indulgecountry - 54 tim - 69 castleoblivion26 - 80 recordyear - 80 gonecountry - 85 LBTrocks - 85 gardyfan - 87 someguy - 96 Following: bigfan101"Anywhere But Here" by Brice Long was released in November of 2005 as his second-career single off Columbia Nashville. It peaked at #50 on Mediabase in December, but held on to the chart until February. It was off Brice's self-titled, debut album.
Brice Long is a singer-songwriter from Kentucky. He released "It's Only Monday" in the summer of 2005 as his debut single, but it never charted. After a third single "Meat and Potato Man" failed to chart later in 2006, he exited Columbia Nashville. Brice has continued to be a songwriter, co-writing "Today" by Gary Allan, "Let's Don't Call It a Night" by Casey James and "Heartache on the Dance Floor" by Jon Pardi.
"Anywhere But Here" was also recorded by Chris Cagle, and released as a single later in 2006, although it never reached the top 50. The song was written by D. Vincent Williams and Wendell Mobley.
This is one of my favorite songs of the 2000's. Fantastic lyrics, heartbreak and melody. I actually like Brice's version more than Cagle's. It's a shame neither was a hit though.

"Anywhere But Here" is just a fantastic song no matter which way you slice it. It is a damn shame that both versions managed to flop so badly. Chris Cagle's version would have easily been in my top 5 here, btw!

It peaked at #51 on Mediabase in late July. Brian followed it up with "It All Comes Floodin' Down," which was his last single at radio as a solo artist. That single failed to chart.
McComas was signed to Lyric Street Records from 2001-2005. He's now with the country band, The Desert City Ramblers.
"Good Good Lovin'" isn't going to be confused with a lyrical masterpiece but it's just so fun with a great melody. Summer of 2006 nostalgia, too. I'm happy it made it this far.

This is probably Blake's most forgotten single. I like it but it's not a huge favorite. I'm still perplexed to this day why this song was a lead-off single. The lyrics are good but it's got a wonky melody and a pretty slow ballad.

#51. Blaine Larsen - "The Best Man"

It peaked at #30 on Mediabase in early September. The song was written by Blaine Larsen, Rory Feek and Tim Johnson. The album produced a top 15 single earlier in 2005 with "How Do You Get That Lonely," and "In My High School" charted in 2004 off Giantslayer Records.
Blaine Larsen is a singer-songwriter from Washington state. He first signed to Giantslayer Records in 2004 at 18 years old, which was a record company started by Rory Feek and Tim Johnson. Later in 2004, he signed a joint deal with BNA Records, who issued "How Do You Get That Lonely" to radio. Larsen would leave BNA in 2007. He charted eight singles from 2004-2011. After leaving music in 2012, he returned to recording in 2015.
I'm a huge Blaine Larsen fan. Truth be told, "The Best Man" is great but it's probably my least favorite Blaine single. Amazing voice. Terrific songwriter. He should've been a star.

I used to hate this song because I don't like Shania's vocal delivery here but the music and production is outstanding, so I've learned to look past it.

Jasmine Rae and Joe Nichols later covered the song in 2011 as a duet.
Dotson was hand-picked by George Strait to open his 2005 tour with Dierks Bentley. She also sang backing vocals on Travis Tritt's My Honky Tonk History album in 2004.
Great song and I loved "I Ain't Your Mama" too. Amber was one of those artists who just got lost in the shuffle at radio.

I like "The Lord Loves the Drinkin' Man" but it's my least favorite of the singles off Savin' the Honky Tonk. Pretty interesting choice for a lead single though.

This song never did much for me, always found it a bit boring. It's not bad though. Without a doubt, one of LeAnn's most forgotten singles.

It peaked at #44 on Billboard in April. The single spent six consecutive weeks at #45 on Mediabase. The song was originally done by singer-songwriter Robbie Fulks. "Let's Kill Saturday Night" was supposed to be the lead-off single off Pinmonkey's second album for BNA, but was never released as the band left BNA.
Pinmonkey started out as a four-person band, comprised of brothers Michael and Chad Jeffers, Michael Reynolds (lead vocals) and Rich Schell (drums). Their debut single "Barbed Wire and Roses" reached #21 on Mediabase in 2002. In 2004, Schell left the band at the end of "Let's Kill Saturday Night's" chart run, while Chad Jeffers left for Keith Urban's road band later in 2004. Reynolds, Michael Jeffers and Mike Crouch (drums) made one more album as a trio off Back Porch Records in 2006 and released a cover of Matraca Berg's "That Train Don't Run" to country radio.
I love "Let's Kill Saturday Night." I can't believe it didn't do better at radio. "Barbed Wire and Roses" was such a great debut single, too. This one was trendiong for the top 15-20, until the last three rankings came in lol.

Mark Chesnutt is a very consistent artist. I enjoyed all of his songs in this rankdown pretty much an equal amount, and that amount was no less than I enjoyed many of his hits during his prime. I'm glad to see them all make the top half!
"This Love" is just such a beautiful song! Vocally especially LeAnn nailed it out of the park. Her material is far from consistent, but this is one that I feel is underrated. It was honestly my #1 for a loooooong time as I listened through the playlist in order. Some of my usual favorites snuck ahead of it as I got deeper, but it still nearly finished in my top 5!

"Let's Kill Saturday Night" was one of my favorite discoveries here! Sinfully catchy would be a great way to describe this one. I did not expect much, but it absolutely hooked me and reeled me in and got me tapping my foot. It would be a perfect song for a good old country swing dance!

It peaked at #43 on Mediabase in July. The song was written by Rockie Lynne, Rob Crosby and Will Rambeaux.
Rockie Lynne is a singer-songwriter from North Carolina. He was born Rockie Lynn Rush and adopted by a family in North Carolina. After being in the Army, Rockie focused on music and signed to Universal South at age 40 in 2005. His debut single "Lipstick" peaked at #27 on Mediabase in early 2006. One more single was issued off his debut album, "More," which peaked at #48 on Billboard in early 2007. After he left Universal South, Rockie released one more single off Robbins Nashville, "I Can't Believe It's Me" in January of 2008. He's released records independently since.
"Do We Still" is a great song and I loved all four of Rockie's singles. I always thought his age stopped radio from fully embracing him. "More" was pretty much ignored by radio, other than a few big market stations who helped it chart in the top 50.

It peaked at #43 on Mediabase in late June, but held on to the chart through July. The chart discrepancy was due to songs still charting on Billboard's top 15, that were already recurrent on Mediabase. The song was written by Stephanie Lewis, Brian E. Nash and Tanya Leah.
One of my favorite songs of the 2000's. This one and "That's Cool" (their top 25 second-career single) are fantastic songs. Blue County had lost their momentum by this point and the summer of 2005 was brutal for chart competition. "That Summer Song" has a great melody, crafty verse lyrics and a sing-along nature that's infectious. I think if this was the second single off the record it makes the top 20.
Another one that was trending top 20 for the rankdown until the last three rankings.

"That Summer Song" is another one that was WAY catchier than I was expecting. I have been about as ambivalent as humanly possible about literally everything I have ever heard from Blue County, but this one actually was great! One of those songs that is perfectly designed to evoke feelings of nostalgia. It helps that my high school girlfriend was literally named Janey

The single peaked at #46 on Mediabase in July. The song was supposed to be included on his sophomore album but that never materialized after the single under-performed. By September of 2005, Scotty had signed with his friend and collaborator Toby Keith and his label, Show Dog Nashville. Toby went on record saying how Scotty was always on the back-burner on DreamWorks Nashville and that's a reason why his singles didn't do as well as they should have.
"The Watch" is one of the most forgotten singles of the 2000's, even for low-charting ones. Our local station did play it, however, and it brings back memories of hearing it in my dad's car. It's such a well-written song with fantastic production and I enjoy Scotty's vocals. It's a grower too, takes more than one listen.

In 2005, they would release "If You Were My Girl" and "Still Got Yesterday" to Canadian country radio.
This song is pretty good but never been the biggest fan of the melody. It's never been among my favorites from Emerson Drive.

I was a massive Emerson Drive fan but "November" was never a favorite. I grew to love it over time, but it's still not one of my go-to E-Drive songs.

#41. Chris Cagle - "Wal-Mart Parking Lot"
Total Points: 661 Average: 50.8 Year Released: February, 2006 Mediabase Peak: #41 Billboard Peak: #42 Rankings:gonecountry - 13 kw9461 - 19 sabre14 - 25 someguy - 32 .indulgecountry - 44 castleoblivion26 - 49 gardyfan - 54 recordyear - 57 bboat11 - 61 Kanenrá:ke - 66 Cody Wants Out... - 68 LBTrocks - 75 tim - 98 Following: bigfan101 "Wal-Mart Parking Lot" was released as the second single off Chris Cagle's Anywhere But Here album in February of 2006. It peaked at #41 on Mediabase, but held on to the chart through April. It actually peaked at #41, then went down to #47 the next week (with a bullet) but never really recovered. The song was written by Brett James.
I never understood why this one bombed so bad for Chris. It seemed like the kind of mid-tempo that would work well as a radio single. Then again, he did have up-and-down success at radio. Cagle reminds me of the early-to-mid 2000's version of Kip Moore. It seemed like he had a large contingent of fans but he could never get sustained success at radio, or even sell as well as one would think he should. After his first two albums were able to go Gold, Anywhere But Here couldn't, and only one single made the top 15. Cagle never was able to get more than two top 10's in a row.
Also, lol @ this one finishing at the same position that it peaked at on the chart.

I have always really liked Chris Cagle's voice, but for some reason "Wal-Mart Parking Lot" has never quite been able to reach the level of most of his other singles for me. I think his uptempo output was in general less consistent than his ballad/mid-tempo output.

sabre14 I think .indulgecountry 's rank for "November" is missing. Edit: Oh yeah, castle's name is listed twice. That's probably it. I'm good for at least one or two of those every time I do this lol. Let me know always.
