Runaway June - "Head Over Heels" I thought coming off "Buy My Own Drinks" with such a radio-friendly tune could carry them into the top 20 again but instead it spent weeks stuck in the 40s Kelsea Ballerini - "homecoming queen?" I thought this was going to be Kelsea's big moment that took her to the next level - but instead it peaked in the teens. I agree with you about Kelsea. I think she thought this, too. It had big crossover hit potential. But, it also sounded like something a one-hit-wonder would release.

Cry (Faith Hill) - This is one of my favorite songs that Faith has ever recorded, and it’s such a shame that this one didn’t even make the top ten. This came out a year before I started following the charts, but I feel like I read once where this one had a hot start, but quickly came to a screeching halt when the album came out and it really wasn’t country at all. Not sure how much truth there is to that. Either way, I’m convinced that this song should have been a #1 smash (like it was on the AC chart).
Mine All Mine (SHeDAISY) - I think this would have been much bigger if they hadn’t released Get Over Yourself as the lead single on Knock On the Sky, but this one still should have been huge.
My Heart Can’t Tell You No (Sara Evans) - I know Sara’s chart history is all over the place, but this should have easily been at least to 10, if not top 5. I’ll never understand why this one did as poorly as it did, especially following the biggest hit of her career.
Last One Standing (Emerson Drive) - I’m not sure why these guys fizzled out so fast in the US after getting two big hits with I Should Be Sleeping and Fall Into Me. I was obsessed with them in the early 2000s and I really thought this song, and the group, was going to be huge. Instead it just missed the top 20 and, aside from a #1 a few years later and a couple other minor hits, they just disappeared in the US (though they seem to have had a longer more successful career in Canada).

I really thought FREEDOM was going to take Reba back to the top of the charts, I really did. That was a bummer.
Going back a bit I thought Biker Chick by Jo Dee Messina was going to be the song of the summer. Wrong.

Drowning by Chris Young. Such a beautiful song, my best fav by him. I guess the subject was not radio-friendly...

And probably would have done well for them had they released them in their prime.

I wish grandpa’s never died. I thought it would be a huge hit / song of the year at awards.

I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan so I have to say I thought "Hurt" should've been his final hit.

Walker McGuire - Til Tomorrow
This just came up in my favorites playlist as I was listening to it and I felt it deserved to be mentioned

We were rich Runaway June
I didn’t necessarily think it would be massive but I was at least hopeful for a top 10 finish.

We were rich Runaway June I didn’t necessarily think it would be massive but I was at least hopeful for a top 10 finish. Especially since it was the pretty much the same subject as "We didn't have much" by Justin Moore. Thought it would do a lot better. I thought ABBY by Travis Denning was going to be the hot summer song, but it fizzled.

Just found this thread again and thought I’d add a few recent ones
How it oughta be by Shane Profitt I knew it would never be a huge hit but I’m really surprised it wasn’t top 5 or 10
Longneck way to go by Midland With Jon Pardi on this I thought it would at least outpeak “Sunrise tells the story” but it really fell flat.
Downtown baby by Caitlyn Smith Another one that I knew wouldn’t be huge but it got a ton of adds so for it to only peak in the 50’s was pretty rough for her career and she still hasn’t gotten another single.
5 leaf clover by Luke Combs This one is more odd because of how it took off on radio before it wasn’t voted as the single and fell off when I was sure it would be the voted single. Still a very small chance it gets released but with the new single announcement I’d say it’s unlikely.
Strange by Miranda Lambert They pulled this one very early in my opinion and I really believe it could’ve gotten a top 20 or higher.
Something in the orange by Zach Bryan I think this did maybe as good as it reasonably could at radio but with the streaming it had it deserved a top 5 peak.
If I die young pt 2 by Kimberly Perry After all the adds it got I thought it would at least still be around but it seems like radio lost interest quickly and couldn’t make it a hit.
Finally songs that I think will underperform on the chart now Drinkin problems by Dillon Carmichael Trouble by Josh Ross Fearless by Jackson Dean

Where I Find God by Larry Fleet seemed like a whole lot better than the 40s. And why they haven't tried again is beyond me. Stack of Records or Lifetime Guarantee should have been sent to radio. The new record is full of good songs too.

"Betty" and "I Bet You Think About Me" by Taylor. I thought they would smash through country radio. HA HA Jokes on me!
