I was listening to Blurred Lines the other day and I remembered how big of a song it was for awhile in 2013. You couldn’t go 30 minutes without hearing it. But today we hardly ever hear it anymore. What are some other songs like that?
Looking for songs from the last 20 years only because we could probably dig up hundreds of songs from the 80s and 90s.

My first thought. I don't think I've seen a Summer smash fade so quickly and completely.

Different people will have different takes on this due to their tastes, listening habits, what gets played on radio or elsewhere in their area, and other factors. But if I weren't a chart numbers buff then these are some of the songs would make me wonder, "was that really that big a hit?"
All Or Nothing (blecch) The Reason Let Me Love You (Mario) Leavin' Down Just a Dream Without You (Guetta/Usher) Am I Wrong Locked Away (would this have been a hit in the first place without Adam?) 7 Years Cold Water
All 2000s/10s CHR #1's that at least to me don't feel that big or well remembered in retrospect, if they even did at the time.

Oh hell no, The Reason isn't forgotten. I don't listen to it often but if that s**t comes on in a crowded room, everyone starts sing " I'M NOT A PERFECT PERSON!".

Even thought it was one of the biggest song of 2016, I feel Love Yourself has been routinely forgotten by the public, especially in favor of Sorry. In fact a lot of 2016 hits have been mostly forgotten: PILLOWTALK, Cheap Thrills, One Dance, Ride, My House, Dangerous Woman, Send My Love.

For how big they were, Cheerleader and Blurred Lines are definitely perfect examples of this.
I’ll add Scream & Shout as another one.

"You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone This. I never would've known that song existed before I became a chart follower. I feel like most adult/easy listening hits of the 70s are largely forgotten in favour of the rock/disco/funk songs from that era.

"Sailing" by Christopher Cross, a number-one single in 1980 and went on to nab him the big 4 at the Grammy's the following year (Album, Record, Song, Artist). Christopher would go on to have few more hits in the early 80's but most of his discography and "Sailing" are forgotten by the public. His album won Album of the Year against big hitters like Frank Sinatra, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel and Barbra Steisand basically off one hit.
However, he still lives on. His legacy is left on Adult Contemporary radio, so if you are an avid listening of AC than you probably know who he is.

These three. "OMG" feels forgotten for a 4-week-#1 hit. and "Imma Be" as well Late, but "Cheap Thrills" as well for a #1. I'm not even sure if it feels like a top 5 anymore.

Try by Pink. It was a massive hit between 2012 and 2013, yet I completely forgot about it before I saw someone call it one of the worst hits of the 2010s (an opinion that I disagree with, for the record).

"You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone This. I never would've known that song existed before I became a chart follower. I feel like most adult/easy listening hits of the 70s are largely forgotten in favour of the rock/disco/funk songs from that era. As stated at the beginning, this thread is supposed to be about 21st century hits. But "You Light Up My Life" is probably remembered (if not always positively) by almost everyone old enough to remember it first hand. Those too young to do so may not know or remember it, and they might look at a book of chart stats (10 weeks at #1 in Billboard) and think "sheesh, was it that big a hit?" since they don't hear it much if at all. Personally I think it's pleasant but nothing particularly special.

Gotta disagree there. It may seem weird that such a lowkey piano ballad was the biggest song of 2006, but it does get some good recurrent airplay on AC stations. At least from my experience, it hasn't been forgotten like other songs mentioned here.

Compared to Time After Time and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, She Bop feels pretty forgotten even though it was also a pretty big hit from the same album
