Surprised no one's mentioned All I Have yet True to the topic’s theme, we collectively forgot about it 😂

Love Don't Cost a Thing and Let's Get Loud are pretty much remembered from my pov. Agree with Ain't It Funny and All I Have.

Let's Get Loud...I forgot about it, but I do think it is pretty well remembered in the Latin community. Outside it not so much. Love Don't Cost A Thing, I love it, although remembered a little bit more than most of her singles from back then...it is still pretty much forgotten. The song does sound very basic ad ha nothing memorable. However, it does pretty well in recurrent airplay.

for a single released as the follow up to the biggest hit of all time (at least in one metric) and by a man who has since cemented himself as a pop a-lister, panini by lil nas x feels like it was forgotten almost instantly. i guerentee you that if he ended up having no real hits after his first ep (which i honestly don't think was that far off from happening, though i'm very glad it didn't), he would be looked at almost entirely as a one hit wonder the way vanilla ice is, despite them both having a second top ten
also to a lesser extent: can't stop the feeling

Totally forgot about it. Literally the only time I ever remember it is when it comes on shuffle play for my 2020 year end list playlist, or my personal chart decade end standings playlist. And even then I usually skip it, cause it hasn't aged well for me. When that rare time comes when I am in the mood for it, it does slap tho.

"In My Feelings" was a pretty mediocre song IMO that was pushed to hit status by career momentum and a silly (and potentially dangerous) viral dance challenge, so I'm not surprised if just four years later it doesn't hold up.

Every Drake lead that went to 1 this decade other than Jimmy Cooks but I feel that’s gonna be forgotten too eventually.
May as well throw in every BTS number one that isn’t Dynamite.

Nickelback, yes. Post Malone, yes. Roddy Rich (which I assume you're referring to with the all-caps) not so much. Butter, meanwhile, at least has phone commercials that I still constantly see on YouTube to remind people of it.

"Lately" by Divine, a #1 hit in 1998. It's not even on Spotify.

Nickelback, yes. Post Malone, yes. Roddy Rich (which I assume you're referring to with the all-caps) not so much. I believe he was referring to the DaBaby song featuring Roddy Ricch. Roddy only had one verse and wasn't the main artist, which only accentuates Drem's point more that this is forgotten lol.

And the fact that I forgot the billing for a song that’s only a couple of years old (as well as how it goes) probably says a fair amount.

Surprised no one's mentioned Foolish by Ashanti. See, every Sunday, one of the radio stations my family listens plays old school R&B hits from the 2000s. I've heard Usher, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, but I've never heard Ashanti unless they're playing Always on Time with Ja Rule. I'd also throw in a lot of Ja Rule's hits since I'm pretty sure most kids in the future will know Ja Rule as the guy behind Fyre Festival than being one of the most famous rappers in the early 2000s I definitely agree about "Foolish." I started listening to a lot more Pop/R&B music a year or so after its release, and I don't know if I ever remember hearing it- if I did, the song must not have grabbed my attention. (I just played it while reading Stereogum's #1s column and yeah, it did not sound familiar to me at all.) For a ten-week number 1, it seemed to evaporate pretty quickly.

She was seemingly everywhere in 2002-03, with her hits and features for others (most notably Ja Rule), but not many hits since. Still, that’s better than being known as “the Fyre Festival guy”, which, as mentioned, is what a newer generation may mostly think of Ja Rule as.

Speaking of Roddy Ricch, I have not heard about The Box since its peak, you could say that is forgotten.

Please Me by Bruno Mars and Cardi B has to be the gold standard of forgotten hits from the late 2010s onward, no ? especially since it's from two huge artists, i totally forgot abt its existence until i was looking at a throwback top 10 a week or two ago and i'd wager that's the case for 95% of the population

But that makes sense, since it was #1 on my best list.

If we are being honest, most of (i don't know her) hits back in the day were huge at the time but forgotten. Ain't It Funny and All I Have are definitely forgotten. I'm Real is remembered and had a resurgence for the wrong reasons. It's crazy to me how she does not have any long-standing hits and how most of them were products of their time. The newer generation can't even name a song by her. The generation that was younger at the time only knows "On The Floor" and is unaware of her previous material maybe besides "Jenny From The Block." ironically that song was just her hopping on the electropop trend EDIT: well I started a new page, I should contribute. How about Suit & Tie? that was Timberlake's huge return and it was generally loved and played a good bit at first. Now I haven't heard it or heard of it in years
