I will never fully get the appeal of Jerrod Niemann as after his first 2 singles and somewhat "Shining On Me" all of his music has been pretty mediocre to downright rage inducing.

#117. Toby Keith - "Red Solo Cup"

It peaked at #8 in February of 2012. The song was written by Brad Warren, Brett Warren, Brett Beavers and Jim Beavers. The Warren Brothers and the Beavers brothers sing backup in the song and appear in the music video (Brett Warren is the one who sings, "lifelong" lol).
The song exploded digitally when released and climbed the chart without hardly any promotion until it reached the top 30. The music video features a cast of cameos. The music video was technically released before it climbed at radio.
This is obviously a novelty song but for what it is (a song that is clearly making fun of itself), it's fine and catchy lol. A top 10 radio single? That was a bit of a surprise. To this day, I still cannot believe this was a radio single lol.

This song is garbage and my local radio stations played the shit out of this song, and my parents who hate country loved it and it was so annoying as I had to always turn the radio down as quickly as it came and talk about pointless nonsense so they wouldn't catch on.

I still can't believe that "Red Solo Cup" was a thing and a top 10 hit at that. I'm not sure I've ever even seen the video for the song (until now that is) and fell on floor laughing when I saw Eric Church using it as a makeshift bong lol.
All in all I think this is going quite well thus far as I've already cleared out my bottom 7 songs!

Good to see "Musta Had A Good Time" out its down there with the worst of the decade.
"Only God Could Love You More" I actually really enjoy, Jerrod isn't my favorite vocalist by a long shot but this one was strong enough in every other aspect to garner a top 50 showing for me.
"He's Mine" is fine, nothing amazing but on this list it was able to make #83 for me.
"Red Solo Cup" is not a good song, but it really wasn't trying to be so definitely ranked it on a curve but it's good for what it was going for and I couldn't put it lower than #97. On a normal year it'd be bottom 10 easily though.

Dear God, Red Solo Cup lasted wayyyy too long. I think that would be my last place song in almost any rankdown ever. No big losses so far, but I'm surprised "Only God Can Love You More" is out this low since there are sooooooo many awful songs this year. I don't really like that song, but it's mediocrity is better than 60+ trash songs in this rankdown. Hell, I ranked Tyler Farr in my top 80 - that's how awful so much of the music is this year. I really only have maybe my top 25ish that I still ever listen to. I absolutely love my entire top 10 though, so there were some bright spots this year.

#116. Aaron Lewis - "Endless Summer"
Total Points: 2,058 Average: 93.5 Year Released: March, 2012 Mediabase Peak: #41 Billboard Peak: #39 Rankings:lady𝓐fan - 52 sabre14 - 59 castleoblivion26 - 69 toomuchboy - 74 kw9461 - 76 bigfan101 - 81 gardyfan - 84 fearlessarrow - 85 recordyear - 88 zaclord 🌈 - 91 austin - 92 tim - 95 Cody Wants Out... - 97 .indulgecountry - 104 someguy - 104 LBTrocks - 110 ClevelandRox - 112 bboat11 - 113 Kanenrá:ke - 117 raylatch98 - 117 dgarcia3377 - 118 fireflies - 120 Following: kamala 2024 truther"Endless Summer" was released in March of 2012 as the second-career country single for Aaron Lewis, who is best known for his vocals in the metal/rock band Staind. The song was first promoted by R&J Records (formerly Stroudavarious), then Blaster Records by May of 2012 and peaked at #39 on Billboard in August. Lewis wrote the song himself.
I knew this one wouldn't do well since it's Aaron Lewis but I kinda enjoy this one. I think his country singles got steadily better with his first country album. "County Boy" was awful in nearly every way but "Endless Summer" was pretty decent, "Forever" was very good and I love "Grandaddy's Gun." I wish "County Boy" was never released as his debut.

"Shinin On Me" is pure guilty pleasure and I mainly like it for the earworm of a chorus just fyi.

Wow. Didn't anticipate seeing Scotty this early.
Personally, I didn't find "Million Dollar View" that bad, but am not surprised to see it out already. I may have overranked it just a smidgen, though.

Scotty's voice is so good! I'm glad he won American Idol and happy that he had a very successful debut album. His new record label has been amazing for him and his career. Scotty is a smart cookie.

"Endless Summer" I can almost see myself enjoying if it had better production and a vocalist who suited the song. This didn't fit Aaron imo.
"Shinin' On Me" is more catchy than OGCLYM but I'll still hold that it's the worse song all considered.
"Million Dollar View" isn't a great song but I always thought it was solid and if he had more momentum at that point would've been a nice hit for him. The label just wasn't strong enough to get him where he needed at that point.
"The Trouble With Girls" is better than his debut single if only because it's not as cheesy but I still couldn't take it seriously. Scotty only really started becoming interesting to me with his label change.

I will say this isn't the worst song trying to define what a real man is ("Real Men Love Jesus" is still that for me and that song can remain forgotten), but even without the lyrics this song still blows, Justin Moore sounds awful, the production is way too loud and the melody is very bad.

It was the highest debut of Kenny Chesney's career and the second-highest chart debut on Billboard Country Airplay since the inception of SoundScan in January of 1990, debuting at #13. It debuted at #17 on Mediabase. It peaked at #10 on Mediabase and #11 on Billboard in May, spending just 8 weeks charting on Mediabase. The song was written by Rodney Clawson and Chris Tompkins.
"Feel Like a Rock Star," like "More than a Memory" by Garth Brooks in 2007, debuted on a Monday, which allowed it to get a full week of airplay with a massive hourly debut. I don't mind the song but it's certainly nowhere near a masterpiece lol. I understand what they were going for with a lead singe but it clearly didn't work. It climbed 7 spots on Mediabase and 2 on Billboard lol.

On principle this song should not work, it is loud, overproduced and neither vocalist stands out at all, but something about this song works well as a quick escape song and the chorus imo is real catchy. I do understand why it is hated but I am glad it avoided the bottom 10 at least as the way people talk about this song you would think the spawn of Satan birth this song.

The Aaron Lewis song is awful. Staind >>>>>>
"The Trouble With Girls" is dreadful, as is a fair amount of Scotty's material tbh. But this is definitely one of my least favorites from him.
"Feels Like A Rockstar" is just noisy mainstream dreck to me. I've never been able to get into it.

#110. Due West - "Things You Can't Do In a Car"
Total Points: 1,928 Average: 87.6 Year Released: May, 2012 Mediabase Peak: #43 Billboard Peak: #47 Rankings:kw9461 - 27 bigfan101 - 49 sabre14 - 55 .indulgecountry - 67 Cody Wants Out... - 69 someguy - 72 austin - 80 toomuchboy - 83 zaclord 🌈 - 84 recordyear - 90 raylatch98 - 91 castleoblivion26 - 93 Kanenrá:ke - 94 LBTrocks - 99 dgarcia3377 - 103 lady𝓐fan - 104 fireflies - 109 ClevelandRox - 110 fearlessarrow - 110 gardyfan - 111 bboat11 - 114 tim - 114 Following: kamala 2024 truther "Things You Can't Do In a Car" was released as the fourth-career single for Due West in May of 2012. It peaked at #43 on Mediabase in September. The song was off their album, Our Time.
Due West is a trio comprised of Tim Gates, Brad Hull and Matt Lopez. They were signed to Black River Entertainment from 2011-2013. "Things You Can't Do In a Car" was their only charting single.
Tim Gates' vocals are fairly unique, so it gave the band a distinct sound. I liked "Things You Can't Do In a Car" but "When the Smoke Clears" was better, which was their 2011 single. I found it odd that them and Sarah Darling left Black River Entertainment after their most successful singles and right when the label started finding mainstream radio success. This was when Black River shifted from acts like Due West, Sarah Darling and Jeff Bates, to Kellie Pickler, Craig Morgan and John King, with Kelsea coming into the fold in 2013-2014.

I'm not sure how unpopular of an opinion this is but I would love if we got rid of Lady A "Wanted You More" as even as a Lady A fan, that song is imo horseshit.
