"Camouflage" is Brad Paisley trying too hard to capture the whimsical magic of some of his earlier hits without a doubt, but it is still catchy and funny and 150% better than the majority of what the mainstream big names are putting out nowadays.

I feel bad because I looove Brad but have never came around to Camouflage. The lyrics are alright but there's something to the chorus that I've just never liked. I can see why this broke his hit streak and sadly was what caused the beginning of Brad being phased out. That said, I still made sure to have it in my top 100 out of respect for Brad. ☹️

Martina escaped the 100s!!!! That's all I was asking for with this rankdown! Her making it to 99/126 is equivalent to her making it into the 70s in a normal year-end rankdown Literally WHO thought that "Marry Me" would be a good single choice? They were probably trying to capitalize on some Crossroads hype, a la Reba/Kelly with "Because of You". But this was NOT the right choice. Her radio career did not need to end this way. She had the right material to milk this era for all it was worth following the success of "I'm Gonna Love You Through It". "One Night" for example sounds like a huge radio hit that would have probably gotten her back into the top 10. Followed by fan favorite "Whatcha Gonna Do" as the 4th single, which had the passion behind it to make some noise and probably climb at least into the 20s like "Teenage Daughters." But no, they went with literally the one choice on the album that absolutely torpedoed all momentum That being said, "bad" for Martina is still better than "bad" for the majority of the mainstream artists of the 2010s, so ranks in the 100s feel excessive.

It wasn't Kix's first solo single, as he released four back in the 80s before he teamed up with Ronnie Dunn. "New to this Town" was released in March of 2012 and peaked at #31 in early June. It was written by Kix, Marv Green and Terry McBride. The song was off his album of the same name. The song features Joe Walsh of the Eagles.
Decent song but Kix's vocals are pretty rough -- would've been higher if someone else sang it. I find it hilarious that he moved his countdown show top the top 30 songs across all stations in 2012, which prevented him from counting down his own single LOL.

New to This Town was a great discovery for me especially after just listening to the Ronnie Dunn song in the rankdown the song before. :x I still prefer the Kix songs I discovered in the recent album rankdown more (I Fall and Go West) but this one stood out in a positive way from the discoveries here.

#97. The Lost Trailers - "American Beauty"
Total Points: 1,767 Average: 80.3 Year Released: July, 2012 Mediabase Peak: #37 Billboard Peak: #40 Rankings:sabre14 - 18 fireflies - 45 toomuchboy - 46 LBTrocks - 54 raylatch98 - 59 recordyear - 59 castleoblivion26 - 63 Kanenrá:ke - 67 lady𝓐fan - 74 ClevelandRox - 81 zaclord 🌈 - 82 dgarcia3377 - 83 austin - 93 Cody Wants Out... - 96 kw9461 - 96 someguy - 97 gardyfan - 99 fearlessarrow - 109 tim - 109 .indulgecountry - 110 bboat11 - 111 bigfan101 - 114 Following: kamala 2024 truther "American Beauty" was released in July of 2012 as the second and final single from the dup version of The Lost Trailers that consisted of Stokes Nielson and Jason Wyatt. It peaked at #37 on Mediabase in early November. The song was written by Matt Jenkins, Josh Osborne and Mason Douglas and promoted to radio through New Revolution Entertainment.
The Lost Trailers were a five-person band but disbanded in 2010. Band-founder Stokes Nielson continued The Lost Trailers with singer-songwriter Jason Wyatt in 2011 and 2012 with two radio singles ("Underdog"). Wyatt left in 2014.
I knew this wouldn't do too well since it's The Lost Trailers but I really like this song, even though it's poppy and definitely more pop sounding than "Underdog," which I love. I think if this is recorded by a more established artist it's a big hit.

Just relistened to American Beauty twice and I can say I underranked it. Nice melody and very pleasant, I'll probably be adding it to one of my playlists in the future.

"Camouflage" is a total guilty pleasure. The line about the car disappearing when it pulls out of the garbage is such a memorable line that still sticks with me. He's had some duds, but was never one of them as it always worked for me.

I love Casey James' voice, but I agree this doesn't compare to "Crying on a Suitcase." To me, "So Sweet" would've been the next best choice to release after "Suitcase." Oh, well. At least he beat that other guy from Idol anyway, thank God.

I don't like Craig Morgan at all. Aside from "Redneck Yacht Club" I feel like his voice ruins every song he touches. I am glad to see him being taken out early here.
I am maybe Thomas' biggest fan here but still a little surprised how low his debut single landed here. Oh well. I will continue to love him and not understand the hate.

Love, love, love the melody of "This Ole Boy". Kind of a dumb song and Craig still oversings slightly at times, but I still quite enjoy it.

#92. D. Vincent Williams - "Down By The River"
Total Points: 1,707 Average: 77.5 Year Released: July, 2012 Mediabase Peak: #51 Billboard Peak: #53 Rankings:sabre14 - 14 Cody Wants Out... - 22 Kanenrá:ke - 26 ClevelandRox - 48 lady𝓐fan - 54 bboat11 - 62 LBTrocks - 63 kw9461 - 66 fearlessarrow - 75 recordyear - 75 castleoblivion26 - 79 .indulgecountry - 83 someguy - 91 tim - 92 toomuchboy - 96 austin - 97 bigfan101 - 101 dgarcia3377 - 101 zaclord 🌈 - 103 fireflies - 118 raylatch98 - 120 gardyfan - 121 Following: kamala 2024 truther"Down By The River" was released as the first and only single for singer-songwriter D. Vincent Williams off Bigger Picture Music Group in July of 2012. It peaked at #51 on Mediabase in early September.
Williams is an accomplished songwriter, penning "I'm Movin' On" by Rascal Flatts, "Just Got Started Lovin' You" by James Otto, "Anywhere But Here" by Brice Long/Chris Cagle and "Hands of a Working Man" by Ty Herndon.
D. Vincent Williams is relatively unknown, so I shouldn't be shocked by his finish here, but I love this song and it was so refreshing on mainstream radio...it's actual country music lol. Reminds me of something the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band would do back in the 80s or 90s. It's a jam and a half.

I looove Thomas Rhett but have never gotten into Something to do With My Hands. I actually enjoyed it more for this rankdown than I ever have though so maybe it's finally growing on me.
D. Vincent Williams was a wonderful bluegrass sounding discovery that I'm very glad you included for this!

You know that it's a bleak year for country music when a dud from Jason Aldean doesn't even come in the 100s.
