Don't fret, Miss chart data got the last laugh on this one. I. AM. YELLING. 1/109. Honestly, that has to be the worst U.S Hot 100 number ones-to-entries ratio of any Female mainstream/commercial act ever. π«π«π« Other examples: β’ Rihanna: 14/63 β’ Mariah Carey: 19/49 β’ Madonna: 12/61 We canβt even use the βFemale Rapperβ excuse either as Minaj has released more Pop/Dance songs than Lilβ Kim/Missy Elliot/Eve have in their entire 20 year careers. β οΈ

www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9375563/and-the-winner-is-dot-dot-dotDoja Cat's 'Say So,' Featuring Nicki Minaj, Tops Billboard Hot 100, Becoming Their First No. 1 EachMinaj's record run to No. 1: While Doja Cat rules the Hot 100 with her third Hot 100 entry, Minaj leads with her 109th. That's the longest that a Hot 100-topping artist has had to wait for a first No. 1, blasting past Justin Bieber, who notched his first with his 47th entry, "What Do You Mean?," in 2015. (Of course, both Minaj and Bieber have tallied titles in an era in which album cuts, not just properly promoted singles, are eligible to hit the Hot 100, a rule not invoked until 1998, or 40 years after the chart originated. And, this stat covers only artists that have led the Hot 100; the cast of Fox's Glee, with 207 appearances, for instance, has not earned any No. 1s.) Minaj first appeared on the Hot 100 dated Feb. 20, 2010, as featured on Lil Wayne's "Knockout." Her 10-year and three-month journey to her first No. 1 marks the longest since β¦ just last week, when Kid Cudi made his first trip to the top with "The Scotts" (billed as by The Scotts, Travis Scott and Kid Cudi), wrapping an odyssey of exactly 11 years dating to his first appearance. (This week, "The Scotts" slides to No. 12 in its second frame.) I had to read this a couple of times before I figured out what they meant - "The longest wait before first #1" meant most hits before #1, not a length of time My first thought: Lots of artists have gone longer than 10 years before a first #1

Say your congratulations or move on! Acting pitiful and bitter won't erase the record. We are under no obligation to congratulate to him. That doesn't make us pitiful or bitter.

Sweetie, Madonna isn't even comparable to Drake. They are not on the same level. Have you ever dived into her discography? She explores more sounds and artistry in half an album than Drake does in his whole career. Madonna will be remembered decades from now while Drake will be forgotten under his one-not discography. Record or not π
Imagine thinking Drake will be forgotten. Are you living in Patrick's rock? Because he's not a white pop girl. It's always an excuse as to why he achieved something (or trying to rush to another thing completely off-topic to discredit him such as saying 'he'll be forgotten' as if they'd know) rather than just congratulating him. Mostly everything going on with the charts in 2020 has to do with the 'current era'. A remix released a week ago was able to go #1 already because the current era. Circles currently has a record run in the top 10 because of the 'current era'. Intentions has spent 11 weeks top 10 despite peaking #8 because the 'current era'. The Scotts debuted #1 and then fell out the top 10 second week because of the current era. Everything surrounding the charts in general today is relative to the current era. Yet when Drake gets an achievement suddenly we feel the need to make posts specifically pointing it out as if nobody is somehow aware in 2020 that streaming & digital consumption changed the charts years ago. When an Ariana, Taylor, or Billie achieves something we don't see all the responding posts being an influx of 'well due to today's current era it's really not comparable so I'm not gonna congratulate them hehe' posts.

Keep trying to cheapen the Nicki's #1...it's breathtaking. I didn't see any of this "ratio" analysis last week when Kid Cudi went #1. But go OFF

Regardless, the ratio disparity is still AWFUL. β οΈ Iβm glad Minaj finally scored her first number one, it was a long time coming, but... Thereβs a reason why sheβs not in the βTop 100: All-Time Hot 100 artistsβ even though she has 109 entries. Cardi B will probably enter before her. β οΈ

Imagine thinking Drake will be forgotten. Are you living in Patrick's rock? It's impossible to say if his music will be forgotten or not, but I don't think hip-hop/rap ages very well.

Drake has a lot of classic singles under his belt, there's no way people are gonna forget about his music. You can think his new stuff is generic but he has some decent albums under his belt and like I said before many, MANY great singles. EDIT: Also hip-hop and rap ages better than pop that's for sure, coming from a huge pop fan. Drake's late 00's and early 10's stuff is still pretty listenable while most pop hits from that era have aged really badly.

For one - Aerosmith 1st hit 1973 - Dream On (1st charted October 1973) 1st week at #1 - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing (October 1998) I believe (pun intended) the overall record is held by Cher:
Half-Breed #1 last on 8/11/1973
Believe #1 first on 12/19/1998.
But Aerosmith does have the longest span for a non-solo artist.

But go OFF I was just about to ask if that conversation had been had (or the fact he had to resort to a Travis Scott collaboration to get one, *gasp*) but I figured it hadnβt since culture vultures have been feigning Cudi support for clout since day one. Happy for them both as both #1s are overdue and fully deserved.

Ok. Was going for longest wait for first number one if βwaitβ was a unit of time as opposed to number of hits (the 109 hits before a first number one for Nicki Minaj as was written up today on their website)

Lol people trying to make this week about drake He literally matched an all-time record this week (in addition to having 15 songs charting this week)? Why exactly wouldn't he deserved to be discussed? You're acting like he's charting at #85 and did nothing notable and we're talking about him. Again, the attitude towards black male rappers is different on this forum. (Black) female artists breaking records this week doesn't mean we need to discuss only one or the other, all of them can be discussed and celebrated. Stop trying to tear down/downplay another person's achievements in the process of celebrating another. Not to mention, your post really just pushes more discussion on him so.
