Imagine thinking Drake will be forgotten. Are you living in Patrick's rock? Because he's not a white pop girl. It's always an excuse as to why he achieved something (or trying to rush to another thing completely off-topic to discredit him such as saying 'he'll be forgotten' as if they'd know) rather than just congratulating him. Mostly everything going on with the charts in 2020 has to do with the 'current era'. A remix released a week ago was able to go #1 already because the current era. Circles currently has a record run in the top 10 because of the 'current era'. Intentions has spent 11 weeks top 10 despite peaking #8 because the 'current era'. The Scotts debuted #1 and then fell out the top 10 second week because of the current era. Everything surrounding the charts in general today is relative to the current era. Yet when Drake gets an achievement suddenly we feel the need to make posts specifically pointing it out as if nobody is somehow aware in 2020 that streaming & digital consumption changed the charts years ago. When an Ariana, Taylor, or Billie achieves something we don't see all the responding posts being an influx of 'well due to today's current era it's really not comparable so I'm not gonna congratulate them hehe' posts. iHype with another banger

I believe (pun intended) the overall record is held by Cher: Half-Breed #1 last on 8/11/1973 Believe #1 first on 12/19/1998. But Aerosmith does have the longest span for a non-solo artist.
Ok. Was going for longest wait for first number one if “wait” was a unit of time as opposed to number of hits (the 109 hits before a first number one for Nicki Minaj as was written up today on their website) Longest time gap between first hit and first number one is Santana, with 30 years: First hit: Jingo, 10/25/69 First number one: Smooth, 10/23/99 Longest gap between number one hits is Cher, with 24 years, 355 days: Dark Lady, 3/23/74 Believe, 3/13/99 Longest gap between first and most recent number one is also Cher, 33 years, 7 months, and 2 weeks: I Got You Babe, 8/14/65 Believe, 3/13/99 BUT - if you only count Cher's solo work, then it's Mariah Carey, with 29 years, 4 months and 2 weeks: Vision of Love, 8/4/90 All I Want for Christmas Is You, 12/21/19

[...] When an Ariana, Taylor, or Billie achieves something we don't see all the responding posts being an influx of 'well due to today's current era it's really not comparable so I'm not gonna congratulate them hehe' posts. ^ this. but a lot of people on here would love to discredit Ariana, Taylor or Billie if they tied a Madonna record, too. some people love to live admiring nostalgia and thinking 'older' means 'better.' Madonna was a groundbreaking artist, yes, but that doesn't make Drake or Nicki Minaj or Lady Gaga any less interesting or influential. Lil Nas X ushered in a whole new era of music industry. Beyoncé is one of the main reasons music releases moved from Tuesday to Friday. That's all history right here that some hate to acknowledge. Congratulations to Drake for matching Madonna's record in the Top 10 & extending his record number of entries. Congratulations to Nicki Minaj on her record extending 109th entry and first chart leader. Congratulations to Doja & Megan for playing their cards right, making music that brings us joy in this hard time. Congratulations to Beyoncé for still being relevant as ever, 22 years into her career, and still making haters mad. Remember: not liking Beyoncé is not a personality trait. Congratulations to The Weeknd and Roddy Ricch for completing this all-Black top five with their #1 hits. what a great week on the charts.

What's funny is that 3 of those 4 Nicki, Doja & Meghan owe a lot of help to plastic surgeons & could easily pass for drag queens.

The people on this forum take themselves too seriously. There’s an air of arrogance that is totally unwarranted. Anyway, I’m glad Beyonce did not get a cheap #1. We all know her stans wouldn’t let us talk about nothing else all week. As for Nicki, she does not have a #1 imo. She’s a feature on a #1, but that song is not hers and was already a big hit. She can’t even perform it in concert without Doja. LOL.

Wow at the discussion here while I was sleeping for 7 hrs lol
I'm super happy for Doja, Nicki, Megan and Bey. I hope that Savage could still be #1 at some point, if not the 5/23 week then next. Fantastic to see 4 women in top 2, now if only female artists were able to get similar album bombs on Hot 100 than male rappers... We might be getting there but it's a long way.

Like when she performs her verse from Monster, why some ya'll hard pressed to discredit Nicki. Go do something better with the time ur wasting, she has a LEAD credit on the song and it is a #1. Facts are facts, take ur shit outside.

When an Ariana, Taylor, or Billie achieves something we don't see all the responding posts being an influx of 'well due to today's current era it's really not comparable so I'm not gonna congratulate them hehe' posts. Was she not discredited by half of Pulse when she tied the top 3 Beatles record last year? Hmm, in the Hot 100 thread that week there was no posts discrediting her and zero posts bringing up 'different era'. pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/182729/billboard-hot-100-02-2019?page=10Like said, everyone is aware the charts drastically change over the years. Whenever people point out 'it's different' most of the time it just screams not wanting to give someone their congrats. Nearly every record and achievement on Hot 100 is correlated to a relative era at this point. Why are we trying to nitpick which ones to attach an asterisk to?

Nearly every record and achievement on Hot 100 is correlated to the relative era at this point. Why are we trying to put an asterisk under certain specific achievements? Congrats Ariana! With this feat, you have now entered very rare company indeed! Of course the circumstances under which the Beatles did this, and those under which Ariana has now done it are completely different; still a 1,2,3 punch is STILL a 1,2, 3 punch back in 1964 or today. Congrats again, Ariana. 1 post in the whole thread pages later being equal to half of Pulse discrediting her is interesting, but okay. And even in that post you included, THEY CONGRATULATED HER. I'm literally talking about people refusing to congratulate Drake and only going out their way to add an asterisk to his accomplishment.

Having the most Top 10s is a record that’s much easier to attain because of the digital era, yes. Madonna got nearly all of her Top 10s pre-iTunes/Spotify through physical copies, which is a monumental feat.
However, if it’s an easy record to beat because of the digital era, why has it taken nearly 20 years? Madonna broke the record in 2002, when “Die Another Day” became her 35th Top 10.
In conclusion, maybe both sides are right? Yeah, it’s an easier record to break now, but no one short of an icon would have the numbers to do so in the first place. Drake’s presence in music will be felt for decades to come. It makes sense that he’s breaking the record.
Also: if Rihanna passed Madonna, I already know we wouldn’t be having this conversation lmao
