http://instagr.am/p/B_kgIulgV8s Can't wait to hear this! Judging from the little clip, it sounds very country. Thank goodness this is being released as his next single instead of the "Way Down" mess.

I'm actually pretty pumped for this since the snippet sounds good (maybe coming off "Way Down" makes it sound amazing but idk lol)!

Ah yes, “Way Down.” The classic that never was. I’m looking forward to hearing this! In truth, I hope it’s not a commercial Mother’s Day single, but rather a legitimate release meant to receive proper airplay and chart accordingly.

Looks like the writers are Marv Green, Lance Miller and Jimmy Yeary.
We should be in store for a return to form for Tim.

"Way Down" was off Tim's last label home (Sony Music Nashville), so once he left the label that cemented any future plans that song had.

I'm betting that after Tim's Curb experience that Way Down belongs to him, not Sony.

Including the duets album with Faith Hill.

Marv Green is an excellent songwriter and so glad Tim went back to Big Machine. I agree this should be a return to form for him. Nothing against Kenny Chesney but I really hope when both of their careers are done Tim still has more #1’s than him.

Yes, but Tim isn't promoting it to radio off McGraw Music (he owns songs, he doesn't promote them to radio) -- and Big Machine isn't promoting that song that was originally on the Sony Nashville label. Looks like the writers are Marv Green, Lance Miller and Jimmy Yeary. We should be in store for a return to form for Tim. Is Lance Miller the same guy that was on Nashville Star many years ago? I wonder if "Neon Church" and "Thought About You" will end up on the new album, since they're owned by McGraw Music.
I have high hopes for "I Called Mama". I'm expecting it to be a bit of a return to form for him.

Super excited for this. I’m hoping he can get a few more hits before radio phases him out for good. If they can let Brad’s current single go up the charts with relative ease, surely they can do the same for Timmy!

Now all we need is a new Faith Hill album. We haven’t had one for 15 years

I like this a lot. I also really liked "Thought About You". I'm hoping that with the right promotion country radio gives this a chance, because it is a really good song.

This is really good. I love the lyrics and the imagery in the chorus. I also really like the production. Hopefully this can give Tim another hit.

Listened to this on my way to work this morning. Absolutely love it! This should be a hit but after what happened with the last 2 singles I’m a little optimistic that it will be. This is a lot better than the last 2 singles Neon Church and Thought About You.

I'm loving this, Tim is at his best when he puts out these kinds of songs. I really hope this takes off for him.

What great imagery. Talk about whiplash from his last “single.”
Hoping this is played on the radio as it should be. Would sound great peaking around fall.

Despite my optimism in my earlier post about the song. I’m gonna predict this will end up being his 30th #1 single. Making him only the 7th artist I believe to have that many.

"I Called Mama" Lyrics
I got a call from a friend about a friend It's the news no one ever wants to hear It hit me like a punch It took my breath He was just getting into his best years
Yeah, something like that'll shake you up Wake you up
So I stopped off at a Texaco Bought a Slim Jim and a Coke Parked out by the water just to watch that river flow
Grabbed my guitar from the back seat Wrote a song just for me I sung it for the blue sky And a couple live oak trees I thought of home, grabbed my phone from my pocket And I called mama
It rang a couple times and she picked up I can always hear her smile when I call I just called to tell you that I love you I was missin' you, and dad, and home, that's all
I got to really thinkin' this mornin' About what's important
So I stopped off at a Texaco Bought a Slim Jim and a Coke Parked out by the water just to watch that river flow
Grabbed my guitar from the back seat Wrote a song just for me And I sung it for the blue sky And a couple live oak trees I thought of home, grabbed my phone from my pocket And I called mama
And from now on I ain't gonna wait so long
To stop off at a Texaco Buy a Slim Jim and a Coke Park out by the water just to watch that river flow
Grab my guitar from the back seat Write a song just for me Sing it for the blue sky And a couple live oak trees And think of home, grab my phone from my pocket Instead of saying tomorrow I'm gonna And I call mama And I call mama
