Never thought I would like an MGK song but this kicks.

This song has me returning to it because of the Megan Fox video. Its dangerously close to my weekly HOT LIST.

Also his pre-show performance from last night's VMAs:
He opened with his new song with blackbear and then segued into "Bloody Valentine."

Eminem really dissed him so bad he had to switch genres.
Jokes aside I saw him last year at a rock festival and he put on a good show, he definitely has wait it takes to be a rockstar performance-wise and even ripped into covers of Shout at The Devil and Bulls On Parade

Interscope is pushing this to reach atop at Alternative before/during the adds date of "my ex's best friend" in two weeks.

#1 on Alternative: 2 1 MACHINE GUN KELLY Bloody Valentine 3214 2945 269 9.21 When was the last time we had back-to-back pop punk #1s? It looks like May 2009 when “Feel Good Drag” by Anberlin and “Know Your Enemy” by Green Day hit #1 back-to-back but wiki doesn’t list Anberlin or their song as pop punk for some reason. I’m still going to count it though.

They have some songs that lean in that direction, but they're a hard band to exactly pinpoint on as they're a mixture of genres. The ironic thing is that I would not count "Monsters" as pop punk whatsoever. All Time Low just happens to be a pop punk band that made a pop rock/alt song with a rapper and Alt ate it up.

The thing is there are only a few instances in the history of this chart where there have been simultaneous back-to-back pop punk #1s, and many of them barely count.
October 1998 was the first instance I could find, and this is one that barely counts IMO. “Inside Out” by Eve 6 and “Celebrity Skin” by Hole.
Summer 2002 witch “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World and “Seein’ Red” by Unwritten Law, which could be considered a fusion between post-grunge and pop punk.
December 2004 with “Pain” by Jimmy Eat World and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” by Green Day.
The one I already mentioned for May 2009.
And the one that’s about to happen this week. IMO “Monsters” is slower than the conventional pop punk song but it still counts.

I just found this guy is American. I thought he was Australian with that fake accent he uses to sing this song. Still a good song. Wouldn't mind if it stuck around at #1 for a while.

He doesn't use a fake accent. I have heard him talk, rap and sing. He has this kinda-drawl that draws his words out and makes him sound a bit wasted even if he is completely sober and alert. It's not his fault, it's just how his voice is.

Kinda like how Billie Joe Armstrong sounds like a British punker when he sings. I wonder if that's MGK's real voice if you surprise him at home on a regular type of day?
