My favorites are still in here. I figure they would be since they were popular on Mexican Rock radio More F.M..

30. La Perla (16): calle 13 deserves my total respect for their great hip-hop Latin fusion. It took me a bit to get into this one back in the day, but having master Blades made it easier to cave in :) not in my top 5 C13 songs, but I like it. Also I can understand the reticence.
29. Señor cobranza (15): They’ve always intrigued me. Sometimes they go too far for me, but this has the right mix of cool music with justifiable, increased anger. Totalmente de acuerdo en que puteen a los corruptos!
28. Tan solo (24): Nice discovery. I remember hearing about them but not really hearing much of them. Maybe one or two songs were played enough back home. This was pleasant.
27. Los Salieris De Charly (30): This was another first listen, but I didn’t get this one. His only 90s hit back home was (the guilty pleasure) Ojo con los Orozco.
26. Gimme tha Power (5): whaattt?!!! This is great in many levels. Lyrically, musically, production-wise for a Latin hip hop song, this was at another level. It was a minor hit back home, but I loved it. It reached the top of my personal Latin chart and was one of year end favorites.
25. Canción por encargo (26): never heard of this group. Nice attempt at a Latin progrock tune. Just needed a bit more to fully capture my attention.
24. Pregón para iluminarse (28): another discovery of group / song. I’m not a big fan of this type of folk music, although I do like some Illapu, Kjarkas...

23. Te vas de mí (19): nice discovery. Good melody, vocals, classic instrumentation 22. Quebrado (22): another nice discovery, with very good vocals. 21. El aparecido (29): I think I’ve heard this one before. Good Latin folk sound, but just not much of my cup of tea. 20. Divididos (20): another song I may have seldom heard before, but don’t remember well. Nice enough but like TVDM and Quebrado, I’m missing something to stay engaged and remember well these songs. After several days, the only one I still remember is Quebrado... 19. Los momentos (25): nice discovery, too, but I wish the melody had more variation 18. Viernes 3AM (14): a pretty good discovery. I know of SG of course but I only remember a couple of songs. This has strong and varied melody, instrumental and vocals. 17. Mejor No Hablar De Ciertas Cosas (21): I do remember this one. Very nice instrumental and melody, although I’ve never been a big fan of some of the vocal arrangements (like the echos or some of the ad libs) 16. Bajan (23): another discovery that I slightly under ranked. Based on more recent listens, this would’ve been ~5 spots higher.

15. Putita (11): I really liked what I heard of this band in the early 00s. This song was one of my favorites, reaching the top of my personal chart for a couple of weeks.
14. Ji ji ji (8): although it wasn’t a big hit in Peru, I do remember this. I hadn’t heard it in many years, but it sounded just as good as in the 80s. A classic.
13. Nada Nuevo Bajo El Sol (18): I would’ve ranked this in my top 15 now... nice discovery with pretty good, melancholic melody, vocals and lyrics.
12. Flaca (4): this was huge in Lima, and one of my favorite songs of the year, spending a month atop my pets knack chart. The instrumental and melody are very strong, and one of the best in the late 90s. Although his vocals have always been limited, I think he’s good at emoting. I’ve been a longtime fan of his, as I was a big fan of Los Abuelos de la Nada.
11. Canción del Elegido (17): Nueva trova was a big thing at high school and college, but I was never a big fan to be honest. I’d listen to a few cassettes from my brother once in a blue moon, but it was a stile I was never into. I do have a few songs I appreciate from the genre. This was a discovery, that is perfectly decent for the genre, but it’s just not much of my cup of tea.
