Kind of a disappointing conclusion this month. I know Pulse stans for Sara (and I'm a huge fan of the music from her prime), but "Pride" just wasn't very good musically. Compelling story, but I just didn't enjoy listening to it all that much. I've liked most of Megan Moroney's output so far (and she put on a solid show when I saw her live), but she's getting a little overrated in these rankdowns. I'm usually a sucker for a piano ballad with a good melody, but "28th of June" is just soooo over-wrought that I couldn't put it in my top 10. I was rooting for "No Caller ID" to win in January because it's exceptional imo, but I wasn't exactly expecting "28th of June" to have a similar fate in this set tbh. But it was easily the least-polarizing track in the rankdown given that it won by nearly 30 points and the songs in the 2-7 positions were all only within 11 points of each other, meaning everything in that range was constantly flip-flopping as new lists came in. I mean, even you put Megan at #11 out of 30 tracks despite feeling this way about it, so lol.

How does Megan Moroney's country ballad sound like "Chinese pop music"? Just found the mostly piano-led melody to be similar to style of ballads in Chinese pop music, which I can say with authenticity because of my background. I know you would say "but all piano-led ballads sound similar anyway" which, eh whatever

Tyler Halverson's "Good Graces" is the unlucky last place song for April's set. He fared pretty poorly and had a very similar run of ranks to Zac Brown Band last month, with one rank squarely at the middle of the rankings (a #16 from nuggie99), and then everyone else placed it lower than that. zaclord 🌈 is the only one who actually slotted this dead last on their list, but seven others had it bottom 5.

After a soft top 20 hit and a failed follow-up, Hispanic country singer Frank Ray has offered "Uh Huh (Ajá)" as his third try for success at radio. This one actually leans into his Latin heritage, but the song is still a bit too sleek and faceless, and it had a terrible run here. This was actually going to be last place until wavey.✨️'s #12 rank saved it at the last minute. A trio of posters lose a #32, plus seven additional bottom 5s.

Nate Smith has made a big name for himself quickly on country radio with several smash hits, but Pulse hasn't quite jumped on the train as "Hollywood" falls in the bottom 3 here. He was safe from the bottom 2 by a nearly 50-point margin, however, in part thanks to our first #1 loss courtesy of 🌺CountryLineDancer. Myself and two others lose a #32 here, and the overwhelming majority see something from their bottom 10 eliminated.

Riley Green's "Jesus Saves" wound up being a pretty polarizing track in the April set. Personally I think the premise of this song is great and heartfelt and Riley sings the hell out of it, but the melody is just a little too sleepy, and then the hook is just clumsy in the way it is shoe-horned into the song. Definitely feels like there was a great song in there, but it could've been executed better imo. That said, it wasn't without its fans! It resonated in a big way for three participants who slotted it top 10, and another three who placed it in the teens. OTOH, seven posters placed it bottom 3.

Elle King is the first female to be ousted this month with the summer banger "Baby Daddy's Weekend." She was another polarizing one as she racked up the lower ranks, including six bottom 5s, but she also landed five top 10s, including a #2 best from tim. She came up less than 5 points shy of escaping the bottom 5 in the end.

I have been a fan of Hollywood since it was released by the writer Joey Hendricks a while ago, and I was surprised when Nate sang it at his show, as I did not know that he is cutting the song. He did even a better job than Joey, and it was one of the highlights from his EP, which was overall a strong listen, despite not being a fan of the lead single Bulletproof.

Our first collaborative effort of the April set falls next. "Drinkin' Buddies" unites Lee Brice with newcomers Nate Smith and Hailey Whitters for... well, a drinking anthem. The song is shallow, but catchy radio fodder, and a bit of an interesting pairing considering the parties involved in it. nuggie99 gave it a lone top 5 rank, while it accumulated a handful of ranks in the teens to allow it to narrowly avoid a bottom 5 fate. That said, it was still inundated with quite a few low ranks.

32. Not too surprised at this being last place because it is again Zach Bryan core (same producer as some of ZB song), but I wonder how this song ended up in this rankdown. Also there are definitely worse songs in this rankdown than this.
31. This just isn't a particularly good latin pop.
30. This is a post-grunge ballad that I don't really care for. Nate Smith wastes his potential in these mediocre rehashes of early 00s rock sound.
29. Conservatives thought they can one-up actual social issues observers like Jason Isbell by putting this award-bait song that lists out instead of telling a believable story, but obviously they like to go back to the love-making song from the same EP instead.
28. Even by the standard of her loud rocking song this is so overproduced, I cannot believe they would try this on country radio because it is DOA.
27. Some of the most insipid lyrics and chants for a mainstream radio single. Again very weird decision to make this a lead single.
My #28 may stay for a while, but hope to see my #29 and #32 soon.

Tyler Hubbard will never reinvent the wheel by any means, but he's good for the occasional country radio fodder bop, and "Take Me Back" is solid in that regard. He lands a trio of top 10 ranks, including a pair of #7s, but the majority had this a bit lower, though most of its ranks were in the 20-25 range, rather than bottom 5.

So far, surprisingly good! OK with all of these being gone, and I knew Frankie Ray would be at the bottom, so I am OK with that, even if I like it more than a chunk of this list.

Sam Hunt fares a bit better this month with "Country House" coming in at #25, compared to "Locked Up" landing in the bottom 3 in March. This bop scored four top 10s, with wavey.✨️'s #6 as its best showing (though he put "Locked Up" #1 last month so this is unsurprising!). 🌺CountryLineDancer offered the lone rank in the teens, while everyone else had it in their bottom half, with recordyear finally losing his #32 this time.

"Love You, Miss You, Mean It" feels like a masterpiece among Luke Bryan's catalog as of late, given the recent dreck he's succumbed to. This feels like a return to form with a song that recalls the sound of many of his more popular hits from a decade ago. As a result, the hate for this one was muted, with only a small handful of bottom 5s compared to everything else revealed thus far. OTOH, the passion was nothing to write home about, either, with only 🌺CountryLineDancer being the only participant to slot it in their top 10.

Tucker Wetmore looks poised to become one of the next big things at country music with the way his streaming numbers are going. "Wind Up Missin' You" taps into the Morgan Wallen playbook with its sound, and it worked well enough here that he gets a top 5 from 🌺CountryLineDancer and a top 10 from zaclord 🌈, plus a string of ranks in the teens, and only one bottom 5 from recordyear.
