Have Your Beer is amazing, the melody is one of the best I heard this year. MacKenzie has lots of jams, but this may be my best favorrite to this date. I am already predicting that this would win the 2024 YE CAN RD and also perform fairly well in the 2024 Country RD, prob top 25.

Shelby Lynne's been releasing music for over 3 decades at this point, and she regularly weaves in and out of the confines of country music with her material. "Over and Over," the first taste from Consequences of the Crown, had the majority of the participant pool weaving for the skip button. She accumulated a damning four #30 ranks, and all but two posters had her slotted within the bottom 10. Darkest Hour experiences the highest loss, with his #9 rank.

"Over and Over" reminded me of some random easy listening song you'd hear when put on hold on the phone. In other words, it was quite bad.

Is this the same Shelby Lynne who ruined Faith Hill's otherwise-perfect second album? She's 0/2 for me. Flops spanning decades!!!!

This was an easy last spot for me. Whatever subgenre of country she belongs to, I do not like this style at all.

Expected Over and Over to not do very well here but last place over my bottom three...huh Although I wasn’t a fan I was a bit surprised it was last place over something like “Nightmare” by Laci Kaye Booth which is tuneless crap. At least “Over and Over” had a melody. There were two worse songs than Shelby’s and Laci’s for me tho, but I knew there was no way either would place last.

Here's July for anyone that wants to jump on that early while I get caught up. School started back today so things have been chaotic and I'm feeling more drained than usual, lol. I'll try to dive deeper into the May reveals soon.

While Shelby Lynne's nearly universally-panned song kept this from last place, Thomas Rhett's "Beautiful as You" picked up very few favorable ranks. Three posters do lose a top 10 rank here, including a top 5 from zaclord 🌈. The overwhelming majority tanked this, however. I've never been a particular fan of Rhett's and think he has way more misses than hits, but this was unusually bad even for him, and even some of his usual supporters thought this was ass (looking at austin, lol).

"Beautiful as You" was an underwhelming lead single, and I was also not too impressed with TR's recent album, despite being a fan of him. I would like him to revive the idea of Country Again...

I just had to let you know, know, yeah, yeah (know, know, yeah, yeah) I could never let you go, go, yeah, yeah (go, go, yeah, yeah) Oh, I just had to let you know, know, yeah, yeah (know, know, yeah, yeah) I could never let you go, go, yeah, yeah (go, go, yeah, yeah)
This being actual lyrics for the bridge is so unserious.
Also really no one made album discussion post on the genre forum as it should because the album is certified ass

I really love Thomas overall but this is horrible and the album…I am struggling to think anything is more than mediocre. I am so upset about his decline in quality tbh.

Keith Urban continues his streak of modern mediocrity. "Go Home with U" is decently catchy fodder, and Lainey offers a nice duet vocal, but its inoffensive slickness leaves little lasting impacting. It picked up a pair of top 10s from austin and wavey. and a handful of ranks in the teens, but the majority slotted this bottom 10.

Russell Dickerson's "Good Day to Have a Great Day" is just unbridled optimism in a song and I can't get enough of it. Clearly I'm in a minority as it did pretty poorly here, and Russell has never been known to be a Pulse fave, but for me, his delivery often elevates mid-level material to something more enjoyable for me. It landed a pair of #30s and again, a majority of bottom 10s. wavey. and austin (a familiar pair from the last reveal) almost joined me in the top 10 ranking.

Newcomer Dillon James hasn't made big waves in the rankdown, but I feel like he's put out some solid rock-tinged country tunes thus far and has a nice set of pipes. "Call Me Up" rounds out our bottom 5 here, and again, we see a pair of top 10s (that includes austin again, lol), while the majority of ranks fell in the bottom 10. This one did a bit better than our prior reveals though as it had less of them, and is our first reveal without a #30, though three posters came close with #29 ranks.

Kane Brown narrowly avoided bottom 5 by a mere 1-point margin with "Miles On It." A collaboration with EDM act Marshmello, this song is a pop-friendly crossover hit, which made for a rather polarizing spread of ranks by those that submitted. It racked up a trio of #30s and an additional four bottom 5s. OTOH, it had a solid number of ranks in the teens a pair of top 10s.

This rankdown is delayed long enough that the music video of Go Home with U which was released about two weeks ago is used in reveal post lol. Unfortunately this feels a remake of One Too Many which has spent too many weeks on chart.
Good Day to Have a Great Day overstayed by 3 spots here. Sounds like a Michael Franti & Spearhead song with heavy autotune. Also the repetitiveness near the end is surprisingly even worse than Beautiful As You and Drinkin' Buddies.
Call Me Up is decent. He can replace some 2000s alt rock leaning artists in country radio afaik.
Miles On It is late 00s/early 10s electropop mid-ness.
