Lainey Wilson nets the bronze with "Hang Tight Honey." While there were some very vocal dissenters on the board who would have you think this song was overwhelmingly hated, they were a loud minority! Three posters finally lose their final bottom 5 here, but everyone else had "Honey" comfortably slotted in their top half, at worst. kw9461 placed it at #1, and Lainey racked up high ranks to the tune of additional eight top 5s.

And in the May rankdown it came down to Carly Pearce vs. Miranda Lambert, with Carly taking the dub. "Fault Line" won by a landslide, with 117 points over "Wranglers" with 162 points (which actually meant it tied with "Hang Tight Honey," though the tie was broken by number of #1 ranks, giving it the edge). Both songs netted a pair of #1 ranks, and all but four participants had Carly's neo-traditional romp in the top 10, and everyone except me had it in their top half. I love the song, especially from a production standpoint, but it was a strong month and while I probably could've moved it up a few spots, I wasn't quite as jazzed about it as others seemed to be. OTOH, the dark and brooding "Wranglers" was my personal #1 (as well as LBTrocks) and it was met with a bit more hot and cold response as it had an impressive tally of high ranks that included a majority top half placements as well, though it had three bottom 10 ranks, two of which were even bottom 5s.

1. "Fault Line" - Lainey Wilson Would be the best song if it was in her newest album tbh Anyway perfect top two. Wranglers is probably getting enough comments elsewhere so I just want to say the idea of Fault Line is so well-done even though some may find an obscure old song that plays with the same idea. The nonchalant delivery of "I turn into the bitch/That you say I am" is pure gold. This is the pre-release song that I feel she doesn't lose it from her previous album era. There are people still haven't submitted for June's list?

Darkest Hour thanks. Fixed. And yes, I had 17 lists for May and currently have 12 for June... And only 3 for July so far... I know I have periods where I don't reveal quickly and that's on me, but I don't understand why more people don't submit ahead of time... 🙃

We kick things off for the month of June with Noah Hicks' "Dirt Roads Dirt." Your typical backroads anthem, this also features guest billing from Justin Moore. For me, nothing this month was truly outright bad, though this was a fairly easy last place for me as its pretty generic. I was not alone with my #30 ranking as three others matched my energy and start off with a perfect ranking. All but two posters had this in their bottom half, with 🌺CountryLineDancer being a lone top 10 rank.

Warren Zeiders continues to be a rather polarizing artist in country music as his brand of haggardly-sung pop country sinks "Relapse" to the bottom 2. To his credit, he comes in comfortably over 30 points ahead of Noah, and managed a pair of top 10 ranks from 🌺CountryLineDancer (not a good start for him...) and LBTrocks, though the majority slotted this bottom 10, including another quartet of perfect rankings for the penultimate song on several posters' lists.

Speaking of haggard voices, Brantley Gilbert's return to country music once again landed with a thud as he found a comfortable spot in the bottom 3 here. His duet partner in Ashley Cooke wasn't enough to save "Over When We're Sober" from being ill-fated here, as it is separated from the next-highest song by nearly 20 points. 🌺CountryLineDancer continues to be off to a characteristically bad start as he's 3 for 3 thus far on being the highest rank for an eliminated song this month, as he was the lone top 10 5 for Brantley here. The majority slotted this bottom 10 yet again.

June was a bad month to be a duet apparently as we lose a third one in our bottom 5, this time courtesy of Annie Bosko, who recruited country legend Dwight Yoakam for this slow burner of a song. "Heart Burn" marks the first female-led song of the set to depart, and she does so to the tune of nine bottom 10s. OTOH, she fared a bit better than our prior reveals with a few more top-half ranks, though only one of those was a top 10.

Gretchen Wilson hasn't treated the public to anything new in years, but she resurfaced this summer with "Little Miss Runner Up," a feisty follow-up to her 2005 hit "Homewrecker." This song is classic Gretchen in all her redneck sassy rock-tinged glory, but she's definitely past her glory days and her weathered voice makes her a bit of a tougher sell to some these days versus her brief-but-stellar heyday in the 2000s. She secures a pair of top 10s, and she picked up more ranks in the teens than the prior songs revealed. That said, she did managed to attain five bottom 5s, including a last place from nuggie99.

"Over When We're Sober" is the best thing I heard from Brantley in a while, but I just hope that it does not flop and kill the momentum that Ashley Cooke.
"Relapse" is so catchy and I enjoy the energy in the song.

Koe Wetzel has spent years building a solid underground following, but this summer he blasted onto the radio charts with "High Road," a collaboration with country-adjacent singer Jessie Murph. It may have lit up the charts, but here it was met with tepid response as most slotted it bottom 10, including a #30 courtesy of kw9461. OTOH, tim loses a top 5 rank.

"Man Down" was chosen to represent Kelsey Hart's debut album, Life with You. Unfortunately, we have our first #1 loss of the June set as 🌺CountryLineDancer loses his top pick, continuing the early hemorrhaging of his high ranks. wavey. also slotted this one top 10, but the majority were not particularly keen on this. I personally felt this was incredibly generic, so the best I could give it was a slight edge over "Dirt Roads Dirt" on my own list.

HunterGirl is not an artist who has really clicked with me, but "Clockworks" is the first thing I've heard from her that I've fully embraced. She sounds like a poor man's Ella Langley vocally, but she's never sounded better than she does here imo, and the hook of this song is just delicious. 🌺CountryLineDancer continues his impressive streak of losing high ranks faster than anybody with the song's lone top 5 rank, though zaclord 🌈 joins him in the top 10. She managed a trio of bottom 5s, however, including wavey.'s last place.

- Kelsey Hart has an interesting vocal, but Life With You is a bit boring. Man Down was one of the better ones I heard from him for sure.
- The Ep from Huntergirls was pretty decent, including Clockworks. Tbh, her debut single was the most underwhelming song in the record. Overall really like her vocal production, although understandable that the excessive use of autotune is not everyone’s cup of tea.

So far behind. For previous rankdowns, I ranked the ones I liked well, the ones I didn't I ranked poorly, and everything else went in the middle somewhere. I had some witty remarks (maybe half-witty) but the time has passed.
Anyhoo, for the current one: Dirt Roads Dirt: As opposed to Small Towns Small, sup Jason? I love Justin Moore more than most, but this was just there. Not bad, but not good. .indulge_country said generic, that's perfect. meh. Has been done plenty of times, mostly much better.
Relapse: More meh. I've seen WZ twice. The first time was his first arena show (he was scheduled for our auditorium, but it's been condemned, more or less) and he tore it up. Second time was early in the day at festival and there was no buzz and I think he got frustrated. As for the song itself, it's not my thing.
Over When We're Sober: I like Ashley Cooke, but I don't care for Brantley, so I scored on BG.
Heart Burn: I got some Chris Isaak vibes here, which I liked. Dwight sounds good. (Finally got to see him live recently)
Little Miss Runner Up: A little throwback from Gretchen Wilson, but then I remember I didn't really like her back then either.
High Road: This one has been growing on me. Still would probably be a lower rank, unless it was tickets to yo freak show. Koe is also growing on me, Jessie Murph sounds like a shriller Tenille Townes but without the Canadian charm.. not a fan.
Man Down: This was ok, but didn't really stand out.
Clockworks: Also OK. The time passes has been done a lot also. This was passible though.
