Pleasantly surprised Bailey Zimmerman made top 10 here... and that Tepid Arts didn't make the top 5. I figured he'd be tanked again, and that she'd do a bit better than she did. Happy with both placements.
Glad to see Alexandra Kay continue to build her fanbase on Pulse. She has been cranking out jam after jam.
Kinda shocked that Stephanie Quayle has made it all the way into the top 5! She's been criminally underrated in these RDs in the past.

I really hope Alexandra Kay is gearing up for an album release or something with all these new songs she's been putting out lately. And they just keep getting better and better imo! As does her performance in this series This was also a top 5 contender for basically the entire rankdown, and is also her first time actually being a #1 contender (even if it was only for one list). Hopefully one of these days she'll actually finish in the top 5...

Ella Langley reminded me of RaeLynn a bit vocally (more palatable obviously) and, considering RaeLynn has revealed herself to be such a trash-ass human being, maybe I will replace her with Ella on my stan card. Future releases will tell!

I think "The Lost Years" reminds me of something Jana Kramer could have absolutely slayed. Definitely one of my favorite things from Stephanie Quayle so far! My ranking looks pretty low, but that's just 'cause the overall list is pretty strong. Definitely neat seeing someone unexpected in the top 5!

While Lainey Wilson might seem like a pretty obvious top 5 finisher these days, both she and Stephanie Quayle pretty much only snuck in at the very end once Ella Langley and Alexandra Kay got tanked.
"Hold My Halo" is pretty good, but I have decided I don't like the way her voice is produced on her new album. It's like the emphasis was on emphasizing the unique edge to her voice rather than focusing on any sort of natural resonance, so she just sounds really harsh and even a little nasally. She sounded much better on her last album.

Talk about melodramatic. I can't. Her boyfriend died in a plane crash and she found out he had been cheating on her with other women when she was at the funeral, so... I'd say it was warranted. She also took care of his daughter like she was her own following his death, which she gets into on another song from the EP.

Let's go Tina!
The Morgan Evans song is great -- in live form exclusively, the studio version is a huge miss production-wise -- but it doesn't hold a candle to Ashley McBryde & co.

I must admit I am SHOCKED to see "BROKEN HEARTS" do quite this well. The song is fine in and of itself. However, the production is SO BAD that it already sounds dated even though it is brand new... And the new lead singer has an incredibly bland voice, which is a bit of a tough sell for me considering what a unique identity Naomi used to give the group. I expected it to be a top 10 or something, but the way it dominated this top 5 was definitely a surprise!
They are going to have a new Christmas song in next month as well, so I guess we'll see how I feel about the new gal on another release!

What a surprising finish!!! I definitely thought that Tina's would be the favorite going into this thing, so I was not surprised when she took over right way, and seemed to be holding on minus a brief interruption by Alexandra Kay. But then all of a sudden Morgan Evans shot to the top and started to build some distance!! In the end, it wasn't even really close. His song is emotional and his performance is powerful, and while I didn't have this one pegged as a winner, I am definitely okay with this surprise! Lord knows Ashley McBryde will have plenty of other chances to win rankdowns while Morgan Evans probably won't, so... 😂 Congrats to castleoblivion26 for getting a perfect top 2 despite having most of your top 10 out in the bottom half

Wow, I'm legit shocked, and a bit unhappy with this outcome I must say. I like the Morgan song a lot, but it truly doesn't compare to the epicness of "Tina" imo, and I'm still annoyed that they completely RUINED "Over for You" when they put it thru the studio to get it out to radio. That version is the one that's going to (possibly) be a hit and it's just so meh. :/
At least happy to see Ashley made top 2. <3

10. A different sound from him. I guess it is decent. (I didn't expect me to get so many perfect rankings this month lol) 9. Why would you put the lyrical twist in the first verse of the song lmao. Otherwise it's okay. 8. Yeah the first time I heard this I thought I was listening to less twangy RaeLynn. The melody sounds a bit too familiar to me, sadly. 7. A good song written by Lori McKenna and others. Of course I would be boosting it. 6. The second verse where she talk-sings to imitate her ex is a bit awkward. Otherwise it's also okay. 5. Interesting backstory there. As for the song it's another waltz and I am never big on them. 4. This has Jay Joyce's production style all over it. I like the synths touches at the end too. 3. Yeah no idea why this is so high. The melody is just weaker version of Buy My Own Drinks. 2. This is my song of the year contender. The women give their best explosive vocals (particularly Caylee) and the song feels like an event in Lindeville. Also like how they kinda referenced Goodbye Earl in music video. 1. So normally subpar male artists releasing a good song = enormous praise, get it lol. At least we are ranking the live version, which is much more poignant than the generic studio version.

Meh lol. I continue to be fairly unpressed with Morgan's output, despite adoring his first single and album before that. I saw him live and he was incredible, met him and he was super nice. Anyway, "Over For You" is definitely an emotional song and I can appreciate that, but musically it just.. kinda exist for me. Pretty, but nothing special.
As much as I adore Ashley McBryde, I would never purposely listen to "Bonfire at Tina's" lol. Glad it didn't win.
Hoping next month brings better songs and better results lol.

So good news about November.... This has been a rather light year for Christmas releases, and on top of the small list of options, I listened to a bunch of stuff myself and decided not to include a small handful of songs (even by big names) simply for not being good enough (like whatever the hell Ronnie Dunn's attempt at "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" was, lmao). Which means after the vetting process, we have a final playlist of only 15 songs! Hopefully that will help entice people to participate, since I know Christmas rankdowns are not super popular. It will also help us keep this in a tight turnaround window, since I am going to give you about a week to get in on this one It's like a quick lightning round, so we will be starting 2022 completely on track, hopefully for good!!
November 2022:
The Playlist: (Runtime 47 min.) 1. Almost Too Early For Christmas - Jimmy Fallon & Dolly Parton 2. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Caylee Hammack 3. Christmas In Dixie - Jason Aldean 4. Christmas To Me - Jamie O'Neal 5. Cowboy For Christmas - Runaway June 6. Holly Jolly Christmas - Blake Shelton 7. I'll Be Home For Christmas - Tiera Kennedy 8. It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas - Thomas Rhett 9. Miss You At Christmas - Avery Anna 10. New Baby For Christmas - Hailey Whitters 11. O Holy Night - Erin Kinsey 12. Please Come Home For Christmas - Callista Clark 13. Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town - O.N.E. The Duo 14. Santa Claus Was My Uber Driver - Lee Brice 15. There's A New Kid In Town - Rachel Wammack ft. Blessing Offor

I'll still do this tho- hopefully I'll find a gem like "Cowgirl For Christmas' by Drake Milligan again! The one night I had free to finish the George RD this week was Monday, and catastrophe struck so I have to start all over. So now, this coming Monday is the day lol. I have it off work so no more excuses. That said, if you can't wait just tag me in reveals cuz I know this is ridiculous at this point

Tbh I like that cover by Ronnie Dunn lol. There are messier country Christmas original songs/covers I have heard in recent years, but not that one.
Also the Gabby Barrett one is from last year lmao.

Well damn! It must have been an Apple Music Exclusive that has now been widely released a year later or something. I'm gonna go ahead and swap that one out for Rachel Wammack's "There's a New Kid In Town".
