Participation has doubled since our last reminder! Which is still only like 1/3 of what we would normally expect from this series, lmao. Most of you had an entire month off last month, so ain't no excuse to miss out! Two more days I mean, I will likely be happy to give you through the weekend if you ask me to, but that's about all we can do since this is a monthly series and I also will be ready to start the 2022 reveals right after this one!

Two more lists today brings us up to 8! I'm thinking I'll go ahead and give y'all a slight extension, so you can have through the weekend to get this done :) That's really all I can do though, so we can get it revealed before February is over

Honestly I found "Ex Appeal" to be a little bit of a jam once it grew on me, but I agree about the current one! "Over Her Over Here" is one of the most immediate jams I have heard in awhile!

Considering where I ranked Ms. Wienertubbs previously, I think it's safe to say I did forget "Ex Appeal," lol. @countryoutuber

I just submitted but this month was awful, lol I just wanted to respond to this and point out that the point of doing this rankdown series isn't to be exposed to guaranteed quality, as much as it is to help people stay caught up on what is happening in the mainstream country industry. It may not always be a strong month, but it does make it a HELL of a lot easier to do things like the year-end rankdown once that time of year rolls around So if anyone genuinely decides not to participate because of comments like this, y'all need to knock it off with that mindset! Even in a "weaker" month there are still plenty of songs that deserve support. All that being said, I do remember from month to month which artists tend to deliver consistent quality and do my best to prioritize them. Crap will still sneak in because some mainstream artists just don't know how to make anything else yet are too big of names to ignore, and sometimes requests can be floppy. But every attempt is still made to focus on artists who people tend to like. Tl; dr - If anyone ever walks away from one of these playlists actively disliking more than half the songs, even in a weaker month, that is basically a failure of their own taste to come through (And that's not necessarily directed entirely at you, LBTrocks ! Just the overall sentiment of negativity that people sometimes approach these playlists with.)

RIP to Leslie Jordan. Such a lovely soul who brought so much good into this world! I was so glad to give him one more chance to be featured in this series after his untimely death, but unfortunately this song was just objectively not good.
That being said, Leslie's "Slide, slide, slippety slide. Kiss those blues...BYE BYE!!" part has been stuck in my head all month, lmao. I just love his personality, even in such a small moment!

I figured Aubrie Sellers was worth including on name alone, since she is the daughter of famous country parents Lee Ann Womack and Jason Sellers. Plus I try to feature artists to make some of the more indie-centered fans happy every once in awhile.
Listening to this, however, I couldn't help but be kinda disappointed. While her voice is definitely nice, the song itself just kinda plods along and does the same thing over and over for the entire 5 1/2 minute runtime. Sometimes it will do it louder or softer, but melodically it is literally the exact same verse over and over again. Definitely not going to help it stand out in a list like this, although it is enough to make it our least polarizing song!

Bittersweet Symphony is the cover of The Verve. Her version is boring.

Also that Leslie Jordan song should be shelved. We should remember him by the gospel country album instead.

OMG we owe George Strait Junkie an apology! Candi Carpenter was his request this month, and accordingly was his #1. But aside from being his favorite song, most of us didn't seem to like it all that much. Resulting in one of the most tragic trajectory graphs we have ever seen in this series. Candi Carpenter has quite a bit of good will on Pulse (I feel like most of us loved "Burn The Bed" back in like 2016ish), but I think "Exorcist" just has the overall vibe of going for niche support rather than mass support, which understandably is not everyone's cup of tea. I do still like it a decent amount, but it's not one that I am going to seek out intentionally as much as some of the other stuff here. If there's any consolation in this placement George Strait Junkie, you should take note of the fact that it finished like 50 points higher than Aubrie, so it really did put quite a huge buffer between itself and the bottom 2!

Walker Hayes just continues to be one of the absolute worst singers I have ever hard in my life... Atrocious vocals aside however, "Face In The Crowd" is an okay song! His attitude towards his family does give off positive vibes, which at this point is starting to make him worth tolerating for me, even if I'll never be a fan.

Ward Thomas is an act that I am only familiar with because of 🌺CountryLineDancer 's Global Country series. But tbh so far everything I have heard from them has been the ultimate definition of a grower, and this one was no exception! I kinda agreed with the overall sentiment of everyone ranking it bottom half the first time I heard it, but then somewhere along the way it clicked HARD, and I found myself really enjoying it! So I acknowledge that my top 5 rank looks incredibly random, and I have questioned it several times myself, but ultimately every time I ponder what else to rank above this, I just couldn't find anything (with it being a weak-ish month and all).

Music is so subjective tho so I would hope that someone wouldn't let a comment like that deter them from participating without even giving the song's a shot themselves. But I guess there's no need to talk about how good/bad you thought the month was until after submissions are closed or maybe even at the end of the RD, lol. Also fwiw, I think you do a very good job of accommodating requests and choosing which songs/artists to include. It can't be easy, given how much new music is out there and how many requests I'm sure you get each month. It is impossible to please everyone all the time but you really do your best to and I'm sure I can speak for all of us when I say that is definiteiely appreciated.
