no matter how much I've given him a chance I just cannot get into Walker Hayes' style. I liked "Pants", and "Why Wait for Summer" but none of his recent stuff. Closest I came to like anything was "90s Country", which I liked for maybe 2 listens lol

This SHOULD have been the obvious choice for last place. With 12 last place placements, more than half of us put it at the bottom of our lists... And yet, the extreme love for it from a select group of posters was enough to make this song escape the clutches of last place for almost the entire submission process It really wasn't a lock for last place until the last handful of lists. Y'all I just...don't even know what to say. This song is hot garbage. I do not understand how anybody could see even a slight amount of appeal in this guy. I mean, with this song, he's a 40 year old man who's pronouncing every single syllable like some kind of idiot teenager on spring break... "Baby you don' nee' no resavaytion. That mini bar and me are wayt-a'. Jump on that be'..." It's literally PAINFUL to listen to. |

"Almost Maybes" bows out next. This song isn't bad per say, but it is very much just generic modern male country from a faceless artist who thus far has absolutely nothing unique or memorable to offer the genre.
Seriously, this song will probably end up being a hit, but who is going to care or even remember by the end of this decade? #notme
Edit: Hell, the end of the decade is too much credit. It'll probably be completely forgotten one year from now...

Oh good, Kelleigh Bannen remains awful. I thought she was gone until I saw her song on this list and I was like, oh. Boo.
"Famous" to this day remains absolutely horrendous. "The Optimist" is obviously way better but still no thanks. Don't care for it or her voice.

Welp, there's the answer for how quickly the first female song would be leaving!! This song is beautiful, and I was SHOCKED to see just about everybody tank it... I mean, it's not my favorite on this list by any means, but I figured it would at least finish in the 15-20 range. But nope, it was our primary last place contender, below "Trash My Heart" for almost the entire submission process Poor Kelleigh!! She has released some jams as an independent artist in recent years, especially "Church Clothes" a few years ago!! But apparently this ain't one of them in Pulse's eyes... Lol |
