Hating Justin Bieber is so cliche at this point, sure the guy is sometimes unlikable, but who wants to be the millionth person saying justin bieber sucks?

Sounds very uninteresting, I guess it's a charity single so it's expected

Didn't think they'd push this but ok I believe this will be interesting to see, Pop has nothing like this on right now (based on the instrumental)

I'm really hoping this doesn't eat Rain On Me, which is 100x better just from the snippets

I honestly could see this maybe flopping I completely agree. I don’t want to jump ahead of the horse because we haven’t heard this yet, but I’m certainly questioning people’s proclamations that this will automatically debut in the top 10. Historically speaking, major A list pop star collaborations have a history of underperforming on the charts. We can date this back to the 90s with Whitney & Mariah’s duet, go into the 2000s with Britney & Madonna, into the 2010s with Shakira & Rihanna, and last years “Don't Call Me Angel”. These types of collaborations don’t guarantee anything. With that being said, last year we did have both “I Don’t Care” and “Seniorita” which both became hits. However, those songs followed a formula already established on pop radio. Ed Sheeran was riding the “Shape of You” formula and Camila progressed her “Havana” template into a duet. So I’m not sure what formula Ariana and Justin will be bringing here considering they aren’t exactly riding on any momentum right now. Ariana hasn’t had a top 10 hit since early 2019, and Bieber’s last era didn’t exactly catch fire.

The charts operate differently than they did in the 90s (hot 100 anyway) so first week could still be big based on their names alone. Whether it sticks around long enough to make a lasting impact - or does any serious damage on radio charts, that's what the real question will be.

I feel like the charts have been kinda weaker lately so I could see this doing well. Plus Ariana and Justin fans powered together could do some numbers I think

Watch radio riding JB's dick and play this like crazy and ignore Rain on Me.
Then Biebz will collaborate with Maroon 5 and have 20 week #1 on pop radio and Ariana will never get another top ten airplay hit because she's too old.
You read it here first!

I think this is honestly gonna come down to the lyrics. Given the lockdown theme it could either be cringey as hell or a decent heartfelt ballad.
I think it's definitely ether gonna flop or become a #1 smash à la Señorita.

Señorita worked because Camilla and Shawn had great chemistry (at least on the song), I'm not even sure if Bieber and Grande's voices will work together that well.

Also, isn't Justin in the top 10 on the Hot 100 right now with Intentions? Lmao the first half of your post was so good too.

If this didn't exist I fully believe they would have gone with Forever next.

The single did fine, but it wasn’t a big hit with enough momentum to crunch out more singles. And there you have it.

Sure Intentions isn't a massive #1 hit, but it's a big hit with longevity. I'm pretty sure that they would've had another single, that's my opinion. Instead of saying "and there you have it" and being quite obnoxious, just say you disagree and move on.

And there you have it.Like what Mayman said, Intentions has seen a stable stay in the top 10 of the Hot 100 since release and it's been on the chart for 12 weeks The song is #5 on Pop radio, #10 on Hot AC radio, #17 on AC radio and is still going 3 areas. Rhythmic radio only now just started to drop this and it already went #8 over there The song is currently #16 on iTunes and #21 on Spotify and #45 on Apple Music, it has been stable on all 3 areas Just cause the song didn't reach top 5 on the Hot 100, that does not mean Intentions isn't a big hit Longevity is a thing for a reason, some songs with higher peaks fall off quickly and don't last long in that upper echelon of the charts So in a nutshell, no this song is not an underperformer at all nor is this album era over

If we are using Purpose as the bar for a successful era then yes, Changes under-performed in comparison. Was the album unsuccessful though? Far from it. Debuting at number one with a great opening week and two top ten Billboard Hot 100 hits is a great success for any artist. I don't even like "Intentions" but you speak as if the song's chart run is over and dropping like a rock in the seventies. The song has been doing fine and any smart label would follow up to capitalize on the momentum it's provided thus far. As Mayman pointed out, they probably won't release another single from the album. Not because they can't, because this is a major collaboration being pushed across the board on the radio.

This is good! It's a nice change of pace for both artists. Ariana sounds really good and I love those whistle notes during the outro. This will be a hit for them both.
