The second single in a row for Bieber about charity. I wonder if he begged Ariana for this collaboration, because turning into charity singer at the age of 26 is definite sign of weakness. The song is already an annoying crap, which will last in the charts forever. Beyond the ridiculousness of your take on charity work, you are also factually wrong (and out of your mindโbut that's not new). Ariana has turned "One Last Time" into a charity single and put out "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" as a charity single after the terrorist attack at her show in Manchester in May 2017. She scored her first two #1's more than 2 1/2 years after that. Your point is???? I am talking about Bieber and he is definitely using charity theme to refresh his own career.

This is way better than I expected and I think I actually like it. The production is good, Justin & Ariana both sound really good. This is a cute a lil quarantine ballad.

As I said before this fits perfectly on Pop at the time, there's nothing like this on it right now Probably a grower but Ari's vocals caught me in immediately

This has an hourly deal on my local CHR station, I assume it probably has a deal with most stations.

Not a big fan of this but I can see why people are vibing with it. Her vocals are nice but the instrumental is kinda meh.

It's not great, but it's nice. I'd prefer it as an Ariana solo.

Hold up. This is a charity single? Then why does it have a radio deal? Doesnโt the cost of a radio deal eat into the money that would otherwise go to charity?

I actually really like this. More than "Intentions" tbh, but I think that's only because of Ariana Grande lol.

Doesnโt the cost of a radio deal eat into the money that would otherwise go to charity? radio deals aren't "bought" lol that would be illegal. they can't just pay in liquid cash at least. it's probably because 1. someone owes Scooter 2. Scooter's giving away JB tickets to stations (or another non-monetary "gift") 3. Ari + JB are great forces, biggest new song of this Friday 4. it's a charity single so it probably doesn't take much convincing for radio to play it, especially considering the names

Is it even confirmed by anyone that radio โdealsโ are something organized through a record label?

This is cute albeit derivative. Fine enough for what it is. But every song this has been compared to is definitely better.

Is it even confirmed by anyone that radio โdealsโ are something organized through a record label? They are organized through the label. And I thought that they do pay for a radio deal slot? Payola was only illegal because itโs done off the books and there is no track of it. A radio deal costs money, and itโs exactly like payola except that the deal is public knowledge. Just like those โOn the vergeโ deals where stations spotlight a new artist. Thatโs technically payola too except itโs legal because there is an announcement before the song plays telling the listener that this spin is pretty much bought.

Anyone recall the first major Friday hourly deal Song? I swear they didnโt do this in the 2000s but it must be almost 10 years?

Also back then new singles werenโt released on Fridays. They used to drop on Tuesdays. I faintly remember on special occasions a song by a big artist would drop on a Monday, before going for adds the next day on Tuesday. Lady Gagaโs โBorn This Wayโ was one of the first singles ever to break the cycle and drop on a Friday with a radio deal. Itโs debut week at #1 on the Hot 100 only accounted for 3 tracking days, which is very impressive when you think about it. I believe the music industry shifted to a Friday release cycle in the summer of 2013?

I ask because I know it's been assumed that these are sponsored by labels but I've never seen or heard any indication of such. Like, there's nothing on the radio that says "sponsored by 'label'" or anything like that so I've often wondered whether it was a specific thing organized through labels. And do we know it involves money specifically, or is it more of a PR campaign where labels reach out to radio companies (I heart radio, for example) and say "hey, we have the new single by 'big star' dropping and we want your company to have exclusivity to air it first.' That doesn't cost money. I've done that in previous jobs.

I've done that in previous jobs. yep, fans love to speculate. contrary to popular belief, labels don't "buy" Spotify Playlist positions -- that would be wildly unethical and a bad business model for Spotify. Spotify has so much data on what users do, and they use it to see what songs are skipped often, which ones aren't, which ones people add to their downloads, and they have actual human workers deciding what goes in smaller, curated playlists.

I think this song is nice. It has a "Love On The Brain" feel I guess. I've always liked the Biebs from day 1 so I expected to like it.
About radio deals. There are "deals" whenever it comes to money and business. In this day and age I doubt people are so eager to hear a new song on the radio they will tune in on the hr to hear a song when they can Buy or stream it. Yes, it's fun to hear a song on the radio but.. I'm thinking it's an advertisement type thing with both parties gaining something.
