Yay, not confident this will be a hit....but this is THE song on the album that stuck with me. It is beautiful.

YES!!!! I am so glad they went with this over "Lady Like" which I feared was going to be the single instead, this song while not the most radio friendly is so well written and deserves to be a hit so badly, and I am hopeful this can be a hit as this seems to be out of all of the songs on the album the best choice for radio.

I'm thrilled. This is easily the best song off her debut. It's simply stunning and breathtaking. I really hope Country radio gives this one a chance to become the hit it deserves to be!

Maybe she won't be one hit wonder after all. This may go to top 10 on airplay around December/January I think.

This was the best option on the album. It’s risky sending two piano ballads in a row to country radio as a female artist, but I have confidence that this can be at least a top 20 hit even if it takes 50 weeks to do so.

This is exciting! Such a unique and beautiful song--just like its predecessor. I'm thrilled to watch this navigate the charts and airplay.

I like every song on the album so I'm not going to argue with it. I do think "Bad Advice" was probably a safer radio choice.

I really liked this song when I first heard in on The Highway a couple weeks ago. It's not really country-sounding but still sounds in line with what country radio is playing in 2020.
This doesn't touch the standout "More Hearts Than Mine" though.

I LOVE "Bad Advice" and would have loved that one to be the single. This one is nice as well but I think its risky to have two ballads back to back. We will see what happens!

"Bad Advice" is literally the only song on the album that I think would definitely *not* do well. With the way she delivers the verses, it would get reamed in the callout scores.
But "The Stranger," on the other hand, is the best choice they could've made! This is hands down the best song on the album and will stand out on the radio because it is immaculately written and sung. It doesn't sound like a surefire smash or anything, but I do believe the quality of this one will carry it to success in a similar way to her debut single.

I still feel "Both" is the smash of the album... the chorus is so dang catchy. But, "The Stranger" is doing well in streaming, and, at least on Spotify, it doesn't appear to be on any major playlists, which makes me think its almost 2,000,000 stream count is entirely organic (anyone know if that's correct?).
Happy to see an inclusive music video. Hope CMT treats it just as any other.

This is very good! I hope radio will support two slower singles in a row from her, because this one absolutely deserves to be a hit.

This is the right follow up! Really rooting for this one to do what More Hearts Than Mine did (Or even more!).

Woooo! "The Stranger" was the clear standout on Lady Like outside of "More Hearts Than Mine" and it deserves a chance to shine! The two slower songs in a row deal does concern me a bit but realistically when this will take off is fall-winter time frame and possibly extending to next spring so it might not be as bad as I think it'll be. Hoping for another hit for her because while her album was a bit inconsistent imo she definitely has the talent!

5th most added song with 29 adds for add week. Pretty solid start especially since it is only 1-2 adds less than singles from Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Wallen who are a bit more established in the genre.

Well the five seconds of that sound more country than anything on her current album. 😂 (and to be clear, I think The Stranger is STUNNING.)

I've been playing this song a lot in the last few days, and I'm loving it even more. I'm surprised she is releasing a new song. Based on her youtube, a music video for Waste of Lime will premiere in a few hours.

Based on the comments on her IG post, it seems like "Waste of Lime" was a hyped unreleased song. I wonder if it's pretty new or if it's just something that was left off Lady Like for whatever reason and she's recognizing that the fans wanted it. I doubt it affects "The Stranger" because there's really no reason I can see to move on from this one when it literally is just getting started at radio, but it is kinda random to have a new song/video dropping now. Looking forward to hearing it though!

Looking forward to hearing it though! She performed it at CMA Stay-cay acoustically and there have been videos on youtube and social media of her performing the song on her shows before, so you're probably right that it was just released as fan request.

"Waste of Lime" is fantastic. Definitely a more country sound for her than most of her prior music, which I'm here for. Love the cleverness of the hook and the lyrics are on-point, as is her delivery and a pretty classic country melody. The music video is simple but great too, and now I highkey want a margarita.
"The Stranger" is still my favorite song of her's though, and I'm excited for it to *hopefully* smash down the line.

I don't understand why it wouldn't have been included on her album since the album only had 8 songs? LOL. It's not like she delivered a 18 song project and some great tunes got the shaft. If this one was ready there is no reason it wasn't included lol.
I like it!

If this one was ready there is no reason it wasn't included lol. I wonder if it just wasn't ready in time to make the album, or alternative theory, that she just left it off because she/the label/whoever didn't think that it fit the album potentially. Honestly, it is just a bit of a different vibe than the rest of Lady Like, though it wouldn't have bothered me or likely many consumers any, maybe she didn't think it belonged or represented the album. I could've gone for at least another 2-4 songs for obvious reasons, but I think they could've easily sprung for a few more to make the record longer and the fact that they opted not to makes me think Ingrid felt like the 8-song project she delivered felt like a 'complete' effort to her. That said, it was bundled on Spotify with "The Stranger" upon release, so I feel like that's good indicator that they are indeed still behind working "The Stranger" up the charts and not switching gears:

Um... "Waste of Lime" is a summer jam! I love this on first listen. I agree with indulge that it might've been left off the album because of it not really fitting in with the album - I guess they could've tacked it on at the very end or something but it would've sounded pretty out of place. I think it would've had hit potential had it been on the album and cut as the second single (I mean I guess they could try to push it next year if they really wanted to after "The Stranger" has run its course but at that point it might be a bit too late). Either way I'm happy she released this!
But what I took out of this release is that Ingrid can nail fun jams too which I don't think I necessarily got from Lady Like - I know Lady Like came out this year but this is making me even more excited for what the future holds for her.
