This is top 20 all-genre on iTunes without being in the radio top 50? WTF. Might be the best sales to spin ratio I’ve ever seen.
Edit: Ahhh that Fallon performance may have helped.

It likely helped, but one late night performance from like 3 days ago isn't enough to propel this one top 20 on iTunes and keep it there alone. This one is obviously connecting in a big way, which admittedly surprise me, especially after how poorly most of their singles have moved the needle lately. Also, unrelated to this song, but LBT dropped a new standalone cover of "Jambalaya (On the Bayou)" with Trombone Shorty last week:

I came here to see what the heck was contributing to its iTunes dominance but I guess the quarantined public just really enjoy soundtracks for continuous day drinking!

I thought it was worth mentioning that this song is the 5th most added song this week for Mediabase with 15 new adds, which now gained 85 adds since it was released June 1st.
Song also moves from #55 to #52 this week on Billboard Country Airplay in its 8th week to date.

Top 50 on MB as of this morning.
52 50 LITTLE BIG TOWN Wine, Beer, Whiskey 667 536 131 1.966
This was my least favorite song from Nightfall when it came out, and while I still can't say this song would be among my favorites on it it's grown on me a little. It's doing well on downloads as well so it's clear that this song is connecting. I think this one got a great reception from the crowd when I went to see them back in January (you know when COVID was not a thing...) too. Not that it's a high bar but it could be their most successful single since "Better Man".

This possibly being the single to put them back on the map and their first hit since "Better Man" is pleasantly surprising. It's not one of my faves on the record by any means, though it is a pretty catchy little number (on a mostly somber record), and I will be very happy to see them get another hit on radio as its been way too long, even by LBT's hot-and-cold career standards. Definitely wasn't expecting this to do much, but its connecting in a big way for them, which is something none of their recent attempts had done, while also steadily growing at country radio; 15 new adds is great news for this one.

I’m willing to let myself hope for a top 30 minimum with this one, it’s connecting in all the right ways and seems like something that would get okay feedback. I won’t hope for higher just yet but it’s good to see them still have some power left!

I’m pretty shocked by this. I thought if “Over Drinking” couldn’t do anything for them then surely this wasn’t going anywhere. Very curious to see where it ends up. I don’t especially love the song, but I do enjoy seeing offbeat choices outperform expectations.

I love that LBT isn't going out without a fight! I think it's strange that of all songs on the album, *this* was the one that broke out, but I'm not complaining if it gets them another hit.

First top 40 hit for them since “Summer Fever” in 2018. If this hits the top it’ll be their first since “Better Man” in 2016.

This is probably my second favorite on the album after "Sugar Coat," so I am very happy it is becoming a hit.

This took a while to chart, so the "Weeks On" is deceiving, but this one looks extremely healthy compared to the other songs near it with only a "12" in that column and consistently inching upwards. Top 20 bound?

Top 20 bound? I'm thinking it will make the top 20. Past that I'm not so sure as I can see it being a hard sell in heavy rotation. I'm not overly surprised this is the song that seems to be connecting for them, they've had a pretty good history of having hits with songs that stood out from radio ("Boondocks", "Pontoon", "Girl Crush"). This one is the one that pushes the sonic envelope the most however so I'm not willing to bet on it's top 10 chances just yet.

I think the sales could carry this to the Top 30, but thanks to the new Monday Morning Intel on AllAccess (Daily Mediabase Updates has the link via onebuffalo) I am no longer confident this will due a ton with radio since this is ranked #50 out of #50 songs all being promoted and it isn't even close as this ranked dead last in both West and South while ranked second to last in the other two sections Northeast and Midwest. Link for those to see it: www.allaccess.com/country/monday-morning-intel/q/id/21

The songs at the bottom of this chart are basically all songs that are newer or still fairly low in airplay. Maybe this one ends up testing poorly and stalls out down the road, but looking at this chart it seems to indicate that it's probably ranked lowest because out of the songs included in the survey, it probably is low in familiarity. Like Dierks Bentley's "Gone" has literally only been out for like 2 weeks so there's no way in that time frame radio listeners just decided they hated it.

It just seems suspect cause usually it takes awhile for callout to come out on a song and Dierks Bentley's new one is just way too new to even be accurately ranked so that's what gives me pause about the validity of the whole thing.

This is a smash waiting to happen and a refreshing sound on country radio. I’ve been hooked since I first heard it.
Hoping for the best especially with their inconsistency at radio.

#kindoflate but "Wine, Beer, Whiskey" debuted at #100 on the Hot 100 this week, making it LBT's first Hot 100 hit since "Better Man".

Okay it has been 3 months since I made that post about Monday Morning Intel and callout scores and I do think there is some weight to my claims that callout is killing this song as they have only managed to make it up to #35 on Mediabase and Billboard in the 3 months with this song losing 40 spins this week on Mediabase and a couple of weeks ago losing it's bullet on Billboard. Maybe this can get a second wind and sneak it's way into the Top 30 but it feels like this song is starting to stall out.

Even if this stalls now, it has been their most successful song since what? “Better Man”? I think they will take it!
Love it still!
“Sugar Coat” time finally?
