Let's check in with the 12/21/85 show:
1. It's the "12/20/85" chart according to Mark and Alan 2. Alan said Face the Face was the 3rd release from Townshend's album, it was the first single. 3. When mentioning Sidewalk Talk artists Nina left someone out named Madonna. Then in her weekly chart screw up she held Sleeping Bag at #10, really 10-8 4. Mark said countdown 7th Wave was the 2nd Stinger solo stingle, it was really the 3rd top 40 from his album. 5. Mark called him JM. At this point he was still being billed as John Cougar Mellencamp. Then the display just showed Dionne omitting Friends Elt, Gladys and Stevie 6. Alan said I Miss You was the #3 song of 1985, really 1986 7. In her weekly content screw up Nina said Simple Minds followup to breakthru chart topping Alive & Kicking was Alive & Kicking?? Then she ^4 really 4-7

^Nina also said, "back in 1983," when it was the 1985 chart week.
Madonna was not credited in 1985. The display said Madonna, but she is still not credited.

Let's take a look at Jan 5, 1980 with Alan and Nina only, no Mark Goofman
1. Nina started off this "1/4/80" chart by saying Magnum PU was the highest rated TV show of 1980?? That was Dallas, Tom and gang didn't even debut until late that year. 2. In her weekly content screw up Nina called ABBAs countdown song Chiquita 3. Alan said Pablo Cruise had it's lifeboat attached to dying Yacht Rock???? Yacht rock was just leaving port, we were still several weeks away from being introduced to the genre chart "Captain" as Casey lite has referred to Chris Cross in the past. 4. Alan dropped Still from #3, really 7-5

This week it was all about 1/18/86:
1. Mark Goofman got the March 8th peak of Silent Running correct but ID'd this chart as "1/17/86"?? 2. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Alan said countdown Tarzan Boy would be Baltimora's only one. Followup Living In The Background would graze the bottom of the Hot 100. Then he referred to Baltimora as a band out of Italy. On the real thing from 2/22/86 Casey pointed out Baltimora was an alias for (Irish) Jimmy McShane. 3. In her weekly chart screw up Nina placed Sleeping Bag at #32, really #37 then in her weekly content screw up, she said Tarzan was from Turtles III.... that was the 1993 rerelease. 4. Mark peaked Go Home at #2, really #10

Onto 1/23/82
1. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Mark said countdown Key Largo would also be a country chart biggie... it peaked at #50 there. Then in her weekly content screw up Nina said Shannon would record his Sea of Love cover in 1982... Del's first charted at the end of 1981. 2. Nina credited Diamond with ten #1s really eleven (3 pop, 8 A/C) 3. Alan said Milsap was one away from his peak. 'World would peak at #20 on the prior panel and would be there with an anchor on this chart. Then he said 35 country #1s was third to Conway and Strait leaving out 38 for Hag 4. Nina said countdown 'Easy was the third and final single from Time Exposure. That honor would go to LRBs followup Man On Your Mind. 5. OMG, after Alan said this was the "1/22/82" chart Mark said Newton's 'Thing would be on the pop charts for 40 weeks... really 24. Was he confused with Paul Davis, played a couple songs ago, 1978 I Go Crazy?? 6. OMG, Alan peaked Centerfold at #3. Was he confused with this being the number three song for 1982??

After a rough week, did things go better with 1/28/84?
1. Several times this was referred to as the 1/27/84 chart. Then in their ever changing definition of a hit, Mark said Joanna was the first in a few years by Kool and the Gang?? 2. I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues as Alan said the countdown song was the first to feature the classic Elt lineup since 1975. That would be I'm Still Standing. 3. Alan said countdown 'Reveal got Debarge going... they had been going with two recent top 40s. Then he said Break My Stride was Wilder's debut even though he previously charted with Work So Hard.

1. Leading into the Friday night airing they played Bruce Springfield and the display read 1984 but it was the 1978 original not the remixed hit 80s version. Isn't this an 80s station? 2. They finally got the chart date, 2/7/87, right but the display for Baker's 'Rapture read 82? 3. Mark said there were three Bridge singles omitting Joel's Baby Grand. 4. They played the #14 jingle going into the fifteen tune. 5. Oh Mark said countdown Love You Down was following up first single 'Sheila. RFTW followed Sheila with their Digital Display. And RFTW had Bubbled Under before Sheila.

1981 is usually a trainwreck, was this 2/14/81 show any better?
1. Chart confusion was back referring to this as the 2/13 panel then Alan said Outlaws had a biggie in 1980 with countdown 'Riders?? 2. Alan peaked 'Games at #18 really sixteen for APP. Then he said Delbert hit the country chart w/ Tanya Tucker in 1992, really 1993 3. In her weekly content screw up Nina said Sayer came onto scene in 1977, but he had hit 'Glasses 2 years earlier 4. Mark called Cliff's countdown song A Little Love 5. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Mark said Happy Birthday was a biggie for Wonder from Hotter Than July. It never made the 100.

Alan Hunter was talking about Billy Joel's "An Innocent Man" album and mentioned the songs "My Life" and "Just The Way You Are." Those were from the 70s. Alan!

Hallelujah! Back to a regular chart!
1. After Nina actually correctly ID'd this week as 2/25/89, Alan said White's #36 'Way was the first countdown appearance of LA Reid, Babyface, etc. That would actually be White's prior #37 Superwoman 2. Mark called Chicago's countdown song I Don't Want to Live Without You, then put your Hands To Heaven, he said countdown Don't Tell Me Lies introed Breathe to the US. 3. Alan peaked BonJ's 'Baby at #2, really three 4. Why do they have so much trouble with chart dates? Mark said Deborah debuted at #42 on 1/21/89 and 'two weeks later' she would go to #1 with Lost In Your Eyes?? 5. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Mark said 19 would spin off three biggies for Chicago omitting top fiver What Kind of Man

Correct but Mark cited it as one of the 5 singles from 19 but didn't include it as a hit.

Last week they went back to 3/5/83:
1. Going into the Friday airing with Down Under in the countdown, 80s played Down Under (labeled 1981) 2. In her weekly content screw up, Nina called Diamond's album Heartlife 3. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Alan said Dexy had only one with their countdown Eileen, but their followup grazed the bottom of the Hot 100. Then they struggled again with the chart date referring to this as the 3/4/83 panel 4. Nina said Golden Earring's Radar was turned on in 1973, charted on the Hot 100 first in 5/74;

"I Think We're Alone Now"?! that's not who I Saw Standing There lol In addition to the above there were others from this 3/12/88 show, which Mark Goofman sat out. 2. In her weekly content screw up Nina called this week's countdown song "Never Knew Love Like This Before" which is actually the title of a 1980 hit (and one of LVKs all time personal favorites) by Stephanie Mills. 3. After references to this being the 3/11 chart Alan said that countdown Girlfriend was originally intended for Whitney Houston, really Vanessa Williams.

Since Premiere is playing the real thing this week, no need to listen to this one:
1. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Alan gave Firm credit for their minor charters 'Kings Horses and Satisfaction Guaranteed but not Ocean for his near top 20 miss Love Really Hurts.... 2. In her weekly content screw up, Nina said Too Late For Goodbyes was Julian's debut to the world. Of course that would be Lennon's prior Valotte. Then in her In her weekly chart screw up Nina ^ Survivor twelve really 14-22 3. I don't see how a returning Mark can correctly ID the charts of 3/9 and 3/23 when introing Can't Fight This Feeling but he referred to the current panel as 3/15/85? 4. Nina said 'Sisters Broke Out with 4 top tenners from their album. Really three, I'm guessing the 4th was the rerelease of I'm So Excited which was tacked on to later pressings

It is Written In The Stars these Casey lite countdowns will never get their acts together. 90s played a cheap knock off instead of Elt and LeAnn!! OMG....

I think most folks felt 3/22/80 fit better, so of course Casey lite went with 3/29.
1. Alan said Rock With You was 2nd single from MJs first solo album??? 2. Years of display errors apparently are never gonna be fixed as the Wayner was listed as 82 3. Mark said Think About Me was the first single from Tusk, and his talk break was tagged 1985 4. Mark said Lost In Love spent three weeks, really four at #3 5. Mark said #15 Fire Lake featured previously heard Eagles... but I Can't Tell You Why is at #13?? 6. Let's Get Crazy Tonight when Alan says Escape was Holmes first release! 7. In her weekly content screw up Nina said Andy Gibb died in 1980, really 1988 8. After references to this as the 3/28/80 chart Mark was peaking Desire at #4 this week. It had actually been there a month. 9. In her weekly chart screw up Nina said countdown 'Radio was Summer's 8th top fiver, really ninth

Not much reason to listen to 4/5/86 this week (VJs kept calling it 4/4) with real thing on Premiere.
1. The display omitted Al O'Neal on Saturday Love. Then in her weekly content screw up Nina confused Robert Tepper's countdown song w/Jefferson Starship's No Way Out 2. Alan peaked Force MDs at #2, really #10 for Tender Love 3. Alan said Elt came out in Rolling Stoner a decade after countdown Nikita, he actually did so in 1976, oops!

Could Charlene save this countdown?
1. OMG, Mark said Star Wars theme was by John Berry. 2. Mark said Never Been To Me first charted Oct 77, really Sept. Then in their ever changing definition of a hit, he said Charlene was a one hit wonder, even though he mentioned other low charters and omitted her near top 40 miss w/ Stevie Wonder 3. Alan called them Louisiana Le Roux, really Louisiana's Le Roux. Then Mark said Huey had a string of 19 80s and 90s top tenenrs?? The real number was closer to half that, none in the nineties. 4. Mark held Davis at #16, '65 was really ^ 16-18. Then he had 'Rock 'N Roll at #1 for eight weeks, really seven for JJ & BH

I notice lately the 80s on 8 VJs will announce the big 40 countdown one date earlier than the actual charting date. Tonight they began with April 13th instead of April 14 1984. Hoping they can fix this soon. This was a sample of this week's stumbles: 1. Mark said Borderline was the final single from Madonna's countdown album...Lucky Star?? Then he had to Work So Hard to screw up Matthew Wilder's intro by saying Break My Stride was his first single. 2. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Alan included Static from Planet P, it never reached the Hot 100 3. Somebody needs to be Watching for these errors.. Alan said Rockwell's countdown song featured labelmate MJ. Of course the Michael's glove now belonged to Epic, his Motown days had long since passed. 4. Not necessarily an error, but coming outta Casey lite was Kid's American and LOL, two tunes just played... interesting since neither is in SXMs regular rotation.

Let's look at the '4/24/87' fumbles:
1. Mark peaked Day In Day Out at #17 for Bowie, really #21. Then he said Meet Me Halfway was #29 really #39 2. Alan said YKMHO was 22 years after original, really 20 1/2 from the late '66 Supremes song 3. In her weekly chart screw up Nina did the wrong 'Thing at #34 really #35 for Mick and the boys. Then she misplaced Peter Wolf at #16 really #15 for Come As You Are. 4. A common theme this week, Mark has Starship in the #8 hole, really #6 for Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now. Then he peaked Bry at #2, really six for Heat of the Night 5. No clue why Alan said I Know What I Like was a rerelease other than (in a preview of 2023) Rock Radio used to play a lot of album cuts first week out so it charted then. 6. OMG Nina said PR Nelson's Sign 'O' the Times was the same title as Harry Styles... his was Sign Of The Times

Let's catch up on 1981
1. Not sure what 'Party Casey lite was at but it definitely wasn't Rovers hit version 2. Mark placed Skyliners in 1958, really charted in '59 with Since I Don't Have You. Then he placed GN'R's two years after Milsap's 1991 version but Axl charted in 1994 3. In her weekly chart screw up Nina held 'Loosely at #30, really ^ 30-33. Mark did the same w/ JO'B even though he was 28-32 4. Alan said that the Stinger came to work on Money for Nothing in 1984 already being on Montserrat completing work on Synchronicity. The Police release came out in 1983. Then he said countdown Don't Stand So Close was the first single, really De Do Do Do

1989 has had a disastrous start:
1. Alan said Satisfied debuted in the top 40 the prior week, but Marx came onto the entire '5/5/89' Hot 100 on this panel 2. In her weekly chart screw up Nina dropped Stevie B a dozen, really 37-35 3. These errors make me wanna Cry as Mark peaked at #17 but it was a top tenner Waterfront. 4. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Mark said it had been 4 years since Outfield had a hit w/their debut but they'd had several post 1986 Your Love charters including a couple top 40s. 5. The display for Through the Storm doesn't list Elt

6. Mark peaked Bobby Brown at #1 but he only 'Stepped up to #3 7. In their ever changing definition of a hit, Alan said SA-Fire had a biggie w/ Let Me Be the One, it never charted on the 100 8. Nina said Paula Abdul Jabbar moved 10-5, but flip those for Forever 9. Nina called New Kids countdown song I'll Be Forever Loving You
