Ugh, it's so annoying that this song started off so strong and now I think the best this song can do is pull a "Family Tree"/"To Hell & Back" in terms of a Mediabase Top 30 and Billboard Top 40. Mainly because it is telling this past week the week where there was minimal amount of promo that "We Were Rich" had the third lowest bullet of all the songs below the Top 20 this week on Mediabase (only Brothers Osborne and Jordan Davis were lower aka two songs I also don't have the greatest confidence in).
That indicates to me that country radio is probably not willing to let it go much higher, and it is not hard to see why, this song has sold pretty much nothing, on Spotify has not even cleared 1 million streams (both the album cut and the new version, and if you put both together you get barely above a million streams). It's telling when Cam's last single "Classic" has more streams and that song didn't even chart. I don't think this song is done but I won't be shocked if the label drops it before April.
I really don't know what Runaway June needs to do to gain more attention and interest in the general public since I do think radio likes them (all of their songs have made the Top 40 on at least one of the two main charts at worse) but they have been around for over 4 years and they have never sold, streamed well at all with anything they ever put out and I wonder how much more good will does country radio have because like we are seeing with the latest single from Lindsay Ell eventually that good will starts to runs out. Maybe they could get a new lead single (or this) trending on Tiktok that connects in a large way and that catches radio and the public's attention at large.

I still think this will make top 20. We all know radio wouldnât give them conversions like a lot of the other names on the chart. I think their team will ride the wheels off of this like they did with BMOD. I donât know what their team should do to get the public behind them more. Gabbyâs team has put both of her singles on sale to .69 cents while they were climbing the charts to help increase exposure. That would be a start.

I still think the Justin Moore song is/is going to impact this.

I love Runaway June's upbeat, harmony-laden music and especially Naomi Cooke's voice. I really hope they manage to break through. 'Head Over Heels' and 'We Were Rich' should have been big hits, and maybe 'I Am Too' could've been a single as well.
It's a little frustrating that their career is stagnating before our very eyes. Can anyone explain why? Is it because they're women? (I don't underside why women struggle at radio either, so I'd love to finally know that too).

Can anyone explain why? Is it because they're women? (I don't underside why women struggle at radio either, so I'd love to finally know that too). Well first of all "We Were Rich" is still being promoted so it could still be a hit. Ultimately their music stalling is due to horrible sales and poor callout and at least in terms of radio callout it does tend to favor men over women, but I do think Runaway June's total lack of sales and buzz are why they are struggling to gain much traction even more than radio, none of their singles have solid well at all except maybe "Wild West" but that's it. Honestly country radio has been somewhat kind to Runaway June given the lack of interest as besides "Head Over Heels" all of their singles made the Top 40 on Billboard and always start off strong in terms of adds but a lack of good callout and horrific sales doom every single of their sans "Buy My Own Drinks" every time. I am also not shocked this song is having such a rough time on the charts as much as I love it as it is the third single from their debut album, the ladies only have one hit single, radio has less incentive to play this than singles by more recognizable names (Sam Hunt, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen) and according to Monday Morning Intel (something online that has radio callout for lower charting singles) this song is only testing better than the latest singles from Old Dominion, Brothers Osborne, and Little Big Town and Runaway June doesn't have quite the name recognition they do.

First, if you like Runaway June, join Best of Runaway June Rankdown! Hoping to see this at least on Hot Country Chart, which Head Over Heels never made it. Hard to accept that trash like "Shallow" was already in top 40 in Hot Country, while this is nowhere to be seen. And finally it made it to New and Active in Canada. Even though radio stations in Canada are slow to add songs, the fact that only 6 stations are playing a total of 82 plays doesn't sound promising, and I cannot picture this being played on my local station...

Yeah I am sorry but I want to give this song the benefit of the doubt and hope it can keep climbing the chart, but I am not optimistic about this songs prospects chart wise as this song has spent two of the last 3 weeks on Billboard without a bullet, and so far this week on Mediabase has gained 3 spins lost 185k in audience. Maybe this song rallies during the weekend and keeps its bullet on Billboard but with this song being at 32 weeks on Billboard the most I can see this song doing is scratching into the Top 30 for a couple weeks aka "Getting Good", "Now You Know", "Nothing To Do Town".
I want to be wrong so badly as I love this song so much, but after the strong start this song had in mid July it has just spent forever in the 30s and 40s.

I still don't think a more successful artist releasing a song that is the exact same thing lyrically was good for this one. I like this song better though.

Another 2 adds for a total of 143, usually with this many stations on a song will be in the top 30. They need to take them out of overnight airplay and into day time, that's gotta be what's holding the song back at this point.

This is what's leaving me semi-hopeful that this can still pick up and turn into a hit for them because I am sure that familiarity is still super low because it's probably all buried in overnight spins, but the fact that its racked up such an impressive number of adds is definitely a good sign imo.

I mean maybe this song can scratch the Top 30, but this has spent so long in the 30s and 40s that I don't see it making it too much higher. I mean this song has spent 35 weeks on the chart and has made it up to #40 on the airplay chart. Like I know chart runs are really stretched out nowadays but even with that this song still feels like it is moving way too slowly. Best case scenario is this pulls a "Getting Good" and manages to sneak it's way into the Top 30, before dying out.
I also wouldn't be shocked if this song has some poor callout scores locally. Not to mention this song has ZERO sales and streaming prescence. Like I can see why country radio isn't converting this and sticking it into the overnight spins, since it is a third single from an album that is nearly 2 years old, and it's a song that has no buzz whatsoever.

Yep stick a fork in this song, it's probably over for this song since it has lost over 100 spins on Mediabase and has fallen all the way back to #37 on Mediabase

This makes me sad. This song is a true gem; feels like a modern day "The House that Built Me." Can't help but feel like if a bigger artist cut it like Miranda or Carrie it would have been huge.

Iâm pretty shocked that after the great start this had itâs not even going to scratch the top 30 at the end of the day. Outside of âBuy My Own Drinksâ these girls really havenât been able to get any traction, be it on radio, sales or streaming outlets. Iâm really not sure what they could do to fix that at this point.

That hurts. This flopping is Wild West 2.0. Both absolutely remarkable songs that receive zero support. So unjust and undeserving.

We live in a world where Niko freaking Moon is gonna have a #1 hit with his mediocre borefest song but radio wonât even let this get the daytime spins it needs to have a chance to catch on. Why do i continue to bother with it?
