Put this side by side with the other "emo" acts of the mid-2000s or even other "emo" songs and it'd fit right in

If you guys like, I have created this Spotify playlist for this EXACT conversation. I've spent a long while putting everything together. So I hope you guys appreciate it.

I can't believe it took four months for someone to put this up here. Good 4 U is straight up 2000s Pop Punk, especially Paramore (which has been said a million times before, but which I will state again).

All these Mid 2010s Vine Rap songs are basically Mid-Late 2000s Ringtone Rap songs brought back to life.

Everything by the Pussycat Dolls sounds very 2000s and dated to me.

Just listen to rock radio, most of it sounds like leftover post-Grunge and nu metal from the early 00's

Just listen to rock radio, most of it sounds like leftover post-Grunge and nu metal from the early 00's That's why I think Rock declined in the 2010s, it for the most part never changed up or modernized it sound (and those who did often went too far and scrubbed all the Rock elements away). Five Finger Death Punch, for example, has sounded the exact same their entire career, but unlike, say, AC/DC, it's not a particularly unique or noteworthy sound. Just another band for monster energy chugging, Xbox live playing dudebros.

I'm shocked nobody has mentioned this yet.
This might be the ultimate answer to the OP question. Meghan Trainor's "No" also up there. I would say that song sounds more vaguely early-00's whereas this is specifically the year 2000.

Definitely agree, but would you say this sound is 'out' yet? Listening to it, it still sounds pretty current to me, but I could be wrong

The Doja Cat and Eve collaboration “Tonight” sounds straight of 2003.

The Bones by Maren Morris. Sounds like late 2000's contemporary

Sounds like early 00s Michelle Branch-esque.

I think this is on the playlists posted, but I had to share the video which looks straight out of early 2000s TRL, fuzzy hat, corded telephone and all.

I'm curious if anyone else agrees Stay -The Kid Laroi sounds more like a 2000s song taking moderate inspiration from the 80s or a full on 80s throwback song. I always thought the former because of the specific synths used, the specific key they synths are in, the "simple" production, as well as that bassline, so I put it on the playlist. But if none of that makes any sense, then I'll remove it from the playlist. Stay doesn't sound much like it's from the 2000s other than in the ways referred to above.
Most of the above reasoning comes from the song KINDA reminding me of "Feel Your Love" by Kim Sozzi, a late 00s club song that includes both 00s house and 80s synths.
