In the past, have we received some sort of confirmation from Carrie that an era has ended? Or is it usually in the form of the Christmas album announcement, meaning they are moving on to the next era? Thanks!

We haven’t really ever gotten official confirmation that an era is over exactly. Carrie has just kinda started working on the next project. The Storyteller era essentially ended with the label switch. I’m assuming the Cry Pretty era is now over with the Christmas album coming.

Anything ever come from the reddit post of her with David Bisbal?

They shot a video for a song called Tears Of Gold, but we don't know why, what for, or when/if it's going to be released.

Also really looking forward to the Christmas Album! Carrie truly has the vocals for an album like this! youtu.be/q2zrJqRynJgDamn!! love this song and she sounds so good!

Meh the song is ok but her crystalline voice always shines with less production.

I mean, they don’t usually make announcements when an era ends. I’m guessing the Xmas announcement was just that, a statement of moving on more or less. I don’t think they’ll want to be pushing a fifth single in addition to Christmas promo.

Even if Tears of Gold is for the Christmas album why did they film it so far in advance? Like this was before the pandemic. I don't know but I'm excited for whatever is to come.

And plus she said she’s been working on this since the end of the Cry Pretty Tour, and I’m sure she thought about it a lot even before then. I don’t think David Bisbal lives in the US so maybe they wanted to get it filmed while he was in the states or something.

Well, she/her team just changed the photos on her socials from DA promo to a generic promo picture. That’s about as clear of a “this era is done” message as we’ll likely get.

What’s funny about that is someone from CF did a twitter poll for a fan-voted 5th single, and pretty sure they used that picture for the Backsliding (that won the poll) single cover! haha 5th single Backsliding confirmed?? 😂

I know I personally will be pretending "Backsliding" is the fifth single and will run with it as such, lol.

CP era is dead. It died back in November. DA got shafted by being released at the end of the era, but if it didn’t gain major traction during the first round of lockdowns (considering how relevant), I’m not sure it would’ve ever smashed anyway. They probably had bigger plans for the song in terms of live performances and other promo, but after the CMA’s I don’t think many even wanted the era to continue... That’s dramatic - but the tour was over, the singles had been released, the nominations were given out, and Carrie’s book was already announced as the next project, it was pretty much over in November anyway; there was just a potential second wave that never happened due to losing an award that surely would’ve generated at least a little extra momentum - which could have benefitted the final single, maybe.

I agree with this. Dragging on the Cry Pretty era after the CMA Awards to me at least was a painful reminder of that horrible night. And at this point, I oddly don’t even want a fifth single because I feel like it will just get forgotten about by the time there’s an announcement for the Christmas album because everyone is pumped for that.

Such a shame Backsliding will never be a single. Been obsessed with the song since the 30 second clips were released before the album came out. Anyone famous on tik tok want to make Backsliding a smash feel free lol

I think this era would have fared much better at radio if they released “Backsliding”, “EUWY” along with “Southbound” and one or two others. “Cry Pretty could have been used as a great hype single to give us those stellar performances.

I've been wanting this from her for a long time. I thought 2017 would've been a good year for a Christmas album since she was in between eras, but this year makes perfect sense as well. For the album title, nothing tacky please - nothing involving her name (Carrie's Christmas) or anything that's been overdone. I know it's harder with Christmas-themed stuff, but I'm sure Carrie and her team can be creative. Tears Of Gold certainly sounds like it could be a sad Christmas ballad, and it is definitely an interesting and original title. I also wouldn't mind something simple, like Joy as the album title. I definitely need at least 1-2 original tracks on here and in a dream world, one of them would eventually become a holiday staple like Mariah and Kelly's signature Christmas hits. My ideal tracklist: 1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - I still listen to her live performance at Rockefeller Center from 2005/2006 and can only imagine how beautiful a studio version would be with her 2020 vocals on it. 2. O Come All Ye Faithful 3. Mary, Did You Know? 4. Away In A Manger 5. The Little Drummer Boy 6. O Little Town of Bethlehem 7. White Christmas 8. Please Come Home For Christmas 9. Silent Night 10. Original Track - Tears of Gold? 11. Original Track #2 12. What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?

Just realised the transition from “Cry Pretty” with the glitter tears to “Tears of Gold” would be a cool transition 😜

Yeah I've been thinking about that too. It would be funny if someone wrote that song for her and told her "Cry Pretty is a cool song and all, but don't forget you can cry tears of joy".

I just realized that Carrie would kill “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”. I’m gonna be a little OCD and re-do my track list: 1. Please Come Home For Christmas (Bells Will Be Ringing) 2. Away In a Manger 3. *Original Track (hopefully something uptempo :)) 4. O Come All Ye Faithful 5. Mary, Did You Know? 6. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree 7. White Christmas 8. O Little Town of Bethlehem 9. The Little Drummer Boy 10. Tears of Gold (original track, ballad) 11. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas 12. What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? I actually removed “Silent Night”. I feel like more than 12 songs is overkill for a Christmas album, but maybe it can be a bonus track or Target exclusive track or something. I also really loved Carrie’s part on “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” from the Elvis Duets album, so I wouldn’t mind a solo version of that from her either. But if I had to pick 12, it would probably be the list above.

Hey all! I'm new here. I've been a loyal and dedicated Carrie fan since 2005, and I cannot wait for her to finally release a full-length Christmas album! I, of course, love all of the faith-based songs, particularly the classic staples like "O Holy Night," "Silent Night," and "O Come All Ye Faithful." However, I'm also hoping that she includes some of the feel-good secular classics that are designed just to engage listeners in the lighthearted fun and festive spirit of the holiday season. What do you guys think? I would also love for her to incorporate elements of upbeat, Southern-gospel in the arrangement for some songs. "Jesus, O What a Wonderful Child" comes to mind as an example. After hearing her experiment with some bluesy, soul-inflected tracks over the years, I think she'd rock the heck out of that kind of an arrangement.

Lmao can't belive she replied to me! Stan a Carrie stan I guess! If she wins, you know she will speak out about Carrie’s EOTY snub. I mean, she won’t. But she seriously deserves to be considered. Huge year and an amazing ambassador to country music, she definitely deserves her first nod!

If Maren is getting considered with them using her tour as part of her reasoning, then I certainly hope Carrie is the same way because of the CP Tour in addition to her app and book in the eligibility period. Not sure what will pan out obviously in terms of the CMAs this year, but ya never know!

I honestly doubt Carrie and her team are even going to try... if she couldn’t win last year all things considered, submitting a “For Your Consideration” based on the same accomplishments they used last time would probably do nothing. She may be nominated again, considering much of 2019 is probably going to be considered more heavily due to 2020 basically being cancelled, but I’m not expecting it at all.
